Try middlecoin.com. It automatically mines the most profitable coin and then it converts it into bitcoin and earns a lot compared with LTC mining. Try it out, I like it a lot

However, most coins are just made for a quick buck from the creators.
I'd pass over FTC..
LTC has been stable, and the way its built leads me to believe it will have a steady value increase over the years, considering the support for it stays there.
Megacoin may be a good alternative as well. It's not worth much currently, but on the chance they implement zerocoin, then it may be a good gamble.

I would choose Litecoin (LTC) or Feathercoin (FTC) 
There are too many pump and dump , I suggest the more stable ones like Litecoin.
Litecoin works. Check alt-coin profitability often though.
honestly, you're better off with just buying some BTC and hold them.

I suggest you to mine Cloudcoin. It is a brand new coin with good potential. It's head developer is a really smart economist so he knows what he is doing with the well developed coins. The coin was developed by a group of programmers.
