Why does society praise people who have unplanned children they can't feed but overcome than those who are smart enough to not have them in the first place until they can afford them?
Probably because most people still follow their "jungle instincts".
Not too long ago you would've had a very high chance of dying if you didn't follow your impulses blindly, which served to protect you from potential predators.

It will probably take quite a while before humanity goes from short term to long term thinking, and this whole "instant gratification" culture is actively delaying the transition even further.

Seems like we'll either wipe ourselves out or end up in a utopia with abundant resources for all instead of the majority of people transitioning into planning ahead instead of being brainless naked apes with smartphones.

But it really is quite odd that people get on such high moral horses while actively supporting the most immoral types of people, such as those that you've brought up as an example. It's pretty much crystal clear that having kids without being mentally or financially prepared to raise them is the worst thing that you can do for yourself, your kids and humanity as a whole.

Religion.  Life above all else.

Every sperm is sacred,
Every sperm is great.
If a sperm is wasted,
Vod gets quite irate.
