Hey Guys,
I'm from Mumbai and was building my first open air case for my machine. At current i have gathered the following parts for my machine:
i7-3770k CPU
Z77X-UD5H Gigabyte Motherboard (3 PCI-E x16 slots and 3 x1 slots)
2 x Sapphire R9 290(The second one should be reaching my place by tomorrow)
16GB Corsair Vengance RAM
1 x HD 5770
1 x EVGA Supernova G2 1000W PSU

If anybody has any opinions about building this mining rig and buying additional graphics cards(that mens 1 more PSU as well), please do give me your opinions .As of now I have mined 15 LTC and about 50,000 Dogecoins using the above hardware in a case and now want to shift to an open air case. Please do advise if you know any way to prevent dust accumulation .

Thanks a lot for your help.  Smiley

seriously man you don't need a i7 and the 16gb ram.
any pentium processor and a 4gb  ram is more than enough. You could have bought an extra r9 280x card for those expensive config

If you still interesting in mining coins, lets catch up for a few minutes and take it from there.

For asking price 23K each. I am glad it is bought by another miner rather than a gamer. It is probably mining litecoins now.

Awesome .. thats nice .. thanks for answering.

Read "Properly tuned"  as a combination of overclocking, undervolting and an optimized scrypt algorithm.
Its definitely possible to get 650KHS at 200-210W running in the low 70s. Though I agree with you that the VaporX will have a better edge over the DualX in cooling.

I pointed you to the litecoin wiki, you should check it out. No serious miner ever runs his cards without underl volting. That's one of the reason why sapphires are so popular as they are voltage unlocked. Despite under voting, when you ramp up the core, it's going to eat 220W which will read 250ish at the wall. I've personally tuned 5 off 7950 and honestly speaking I prefer keeping them them in a safe range of OC so temperatures don't run anything over 90C. It's a case of diminishing returns where a sacrifice if 20-30 kh/s for a 5C temp drop is preferable. And keeping within the safe range I've gotten 650 with only one vapor x. Another point is, the new vapor x use 2 of 8pin pcie, probably hinting they use more wattage. I'll be getting a kill a watt myself soon.

Right. Since I am not so serious , I thought I would reply to your message with pictures. Smiley
Here's one of Doge.

Here's one of a 3x7950 doing 1.96 MHS at 74C with 740W at the wall. Considering the system pulls 140W at idle, I am guessing 200W - 210W per card at full load.

p.s. Sorry, jinson, for crapping all over your thread.

R9 280x v had taken the crown from 7950 as the king of mining. They give ~750kh vs 600kh of 7950, cost 23k new. That's why I wonder why 7950s are selling at such inflated prices
R9s run 250W v/s 200W of the 7950. A properly tuned 7950 can put out 650KHS with ease.
So really you are only getting 100KHS extra at 20% more power utilization.

Good prices though, @jinson. Best of luck on your sale.

200 vs 250 on stock? Look at the litecoin wiki's mining hardware comparison page and you'll see that an overclocked 7950 will draw anything between 220-260+W and an overclocked R9 280x will draw 250-290W (as measured by kill-a-watt. These are power draw figures at wall, so the actual draw is less and thus within the max TDP range). And you don't just pull 650KH/s with a Sapphire Dual X with that ease, the majority of them have low ASIC score. To get 650 out of that is usually impossible without hefty OC which will draw 250+ W (and run at 80+ C). A Vapor X or Asus DC2 version of 7950 will give you 650 KH/s but they also have wose KH/$ ratio. Any how the two cards come really close.

I have 2 brand new Sapphire HD 7950 3GB DDR5 graphic cards. I purchased them one month back in order to setup a litecoin rig. But I could not setup the rig yet. So I am planning to sell them. The cards are un used, brand new with bills. The Sapphire 7950 cards are highly sought after among miners and very hard to find as they are sold-out every where. Based on GPU comparative charts these 2 cards put together should give you 1200+KH/s.

The price for each is 23000 INR final.

I will not ship the cards. So if any one interested to purchase the cards in Chennai can contact me and pickup the cards in person.

Send me a PM for contact details if interested. ( First come first serve )
