Wow this thread really blew up while I was sleeping... haha

Who is the maker of the lower receiver?Huh??  also...have you shot .308s in it.... ...I see the upper is 7.62.51

FN makes the lower receiver, both the upper and lower are stock. No reason to upgrade them at this point in time. I have shot both 308 and 7.62 with it and it handled both perfectly. Like MiLkz said, it can handle both.

I have a noob question (I know very little of guns).
Is the SCAR 17 the assault riffle the US navy seal use?

Really nice riffle you got there! I am mainly a handgun guy, but riffles are fun. If you got any handguns for sale post them up. I am in the market for a ridiculous one - Desert Eagle .50AE (yes I know it is just silly) or possibly a Magnum 500. I would also be after a 1911 depending on prices.

LOL ... Should do the job protecting your casascius collection Cheesy

When I was working with Seals back in 2012 they all had short barrel suppressed M4's but honestly they can use whatever they want and are comfortable with for the mission, their budget is pretty ridiculous. A couple of the Army SF guys I was with used them though. The military wants to replace the M4 with the SCAR eventually so a lot of SOCOM units are getting them to test and the feedback has been great with them. It's honestly an amazing platform and I love it in 308.

As far as handguns go, I don't have any for sale unfortunately. I'm keeping my Glocks  Wink I shot a friends Magnum 500 and it's no joke... You better be ready to rock when you pull that trigger haha

Yeah the Magnum is a hand cannon for sure Tongue The Deagle has a lot less recoil due to that crazy gas setup though. Obviously either one is just fun to shoot 10-20 rounds and done with.

I am going to answer my own question here .....With the Scar, it is the upper that is serialized unlike an AR which the lower is serialized. ....  .. thank you google....

What's the diff between 7.62*51 and 308? Thought .308 was just commercial and .51 was military.

slightly different measurements/brass thickness, .308win has more pressure, ect.

the FN can handle both, as most assault rifles can

Jokingly serious. ..can we please call them..... Sporting Rifles..... Not ASSAULT  Rifles....

I am looking to sell my SCAR 17. It comes with:

-Trijicon 3.5x35 ACOG Green horseshoe and 308 reticle,
-Trijicon RMR 6.5 MOA Red dot (both optics come with original boxes)
-Midwest Industries Extended Rail
-Surefire Mini Scout
-Noveske K9 Rail Mount Barricade Support
-GG&G Enhanced Charging Handle
-Timney trigger
-ERGO Sure Grip Gen 2
-VLTOR Replacement Stock Module
-Magpul STR Stock
-Drago gear gun case
-4 Magazines
-70 rounds

And probably a few other things that I'm forgetting. I have well over $6k invested into this rifle. It has had ~400 rounds through it, is in like new condition and shoots like a dream. If you are looking to purchase a SCAR 17, this is the one to get.

The only reason that I am selling this rifle is because I am hoping to pay off some student debt and realized it was excessive having another rifle just sitting around.

I'm asking for

Obviously this would have to be in the US with an FFL unless you are aware of the legal requirements to sell it internationally. I can take more photos if there's any real interest, just figured I'd give it a shot putting it for sale on here.
