After running some numbers, I decided I'd let it go for a steal at 6.5 btc shipped.  That's ~$130.

Prices in general depreciate, but right now we're in a demand crunch situation for cost-effective mining hardware.  This generates 270 mhash/s with minimal effort towards optimization.  A 6990, which under the best circumstances gives 3x as much mhash according to the absolute best case in the wiki.  However, it costs 5.9x as much.  Assuming you can even find any in stock...which isn't exactly likely.


At the price I'm offering, it's about 2.8x as cost effective as a 6990, excluding overhead.  Even assuming massive overhead costs, we're looking at, say, 1.5x the cost effectiveness.

If nobody's willing to take that offer, meh, I'll dust off my ebay account and get $150 for it.

I got one of those Sapphire 5830s off of Newegg while they were in stock.  Pretty much everything you need to know about it here:

As you can see, it was $110.  I'm asking for 8 bitcoins for total cost shipped.  At the current exchange rate, that's definitely a premium, but these things just aren't around cheap anymore.  There's one on ebay for around 150, but that doesn't include shipping, you'd have to wait 3 days for the auction to finish, go through the hassle of exchange, etc.

Now, I've upgraded to a more expensive card and, due to power limitations in my own and my wife's desktops (I'm not using dedicated rigs), I can't run this 5830 anymore.  It's the least power-efficient of the cards I have, so I'm letting it go.

I've been running it close to non stop for the past 6 weeks at 950 mhz.  That's with stock memory clocks and stock voltage.  I found that for mining purposes it could work at 985mhz (didn't test any higher), but it was somewhat unstable if I tried gaming on it at those clocks.  It generally sat from 75-77c depending on the ambient temperature.  I'm sure someone with the right setup, BIOS/voltage mods, etc, could take it up even higher.

It would ship in its original packaging with everything from the box except for 1 6 pin power connector I'm currently using.  Other than that, it's like getting one new, except I can guarantee it won't be DOA!

I figure I'll put it up on ebay later if this doesn't pan out, but I thought I'd give y'all first crack at it.
