Finally, I was able to solve the crossword! This one was the most challenging so far, I think. At least I spent the most time on this one.
Since it's been online for over a week, I will just reveal the solution

To be honest, for the first time I read the actual article about the 'Chancellor on brink of second bailout for banks', so that was cool as well!

In fact  the 8 across is the easiest word to guess. Tip: read once more carefully  which event this crossword is dedicated to. Sometimes the answer to a question that  seems very complicated lies on the surface.Wink

With this hint i think it became easy for me to guess #8 across and now have one member in my mind which is fitting to this length but not disclosing it and working on the rest to complete the whole puzzle box and then upload the full image when all the answers have been found by me.Rest members try hard to find the answers for the one you can.

I'm not sure how to solve the 8 across. I fetched a list of usernames here, filtered with a Python script for the ones with correct length and correct second letter (missing 1 down still) and then scanned the matching usernames via HTTP requests to check if they're Senior Members. I got a list of around 100 and none worked in the crossword.

So it means the username list I'm using is not containing the user we're looking for. I'm not sure through which criteria users are added into that list, but I think Loyce puts the ones in there who earned merits in the last 30 days or something like that. So now I'll look for accounts which became inactive, instead, I guess. Or I'll try solving '1 down' first Wink

Hi, at first I have thought you were kidding but  when I found out what colossal effort you have made to guess  that word I have realized  you were quite serious. In fact  the 8 across is the easiest word to guess. Tip: read once more carefully  which event this crossword is dedicated to. Sometimes the answer to a question that  seems very complicated lies on the surface.Wink

Well, wasn't 'colossal' effort but it took a few minutes to write the code Grin
Lol, I just tried something that I was sure I had tried before, after you mentioned the 'event' again and it worked! Probably, I tried to put it into 6 across instead of 8 across, since they both have same length and same second letter (hint for others! Wink)

I hope I can finish the last two words now! Smiley

Soliton's bitcoin#9 crossword is opened to everyone!

This is a special edition of soliton's crossword  to celebrate 13th anniversary of Bitcoin white paper. Yeah, it was published 13 years ago on Friday, October 31st. Today is Sunday which is nice day to honor Bitcoin. Everything in our Solar System is spinning around the Sun due to gravity. Everything in cryptoverse is rounding around Bitcoin due to the magnitude of this invention.

To build this crossword I have used a few words which have a direct bearing on  mentioned event. One of the term used  is  in the front of your face,  just open your eyes and see it. Good luck everybody.

These crosswords are fun! Cheesy I'm down to the last 3 words, just want to let you know I'm on it, even though not as fast as the last times! Wink

Thanks for helping me in dissemination the info on  soliton's Bitcoin crosswords. You are among those users who were known to be very active  on solving them in the recent past. Why don't try again? Both #7 and #8 are still opened for every forum user.
Thanks for the invitation for solving your puzzles once again. I'll try to solve your puzzles when I have time. For past few days we are experiencing a very strong gust of wind, I think it's a low pressure. Anyway, nevermind the weather condition I just said. I made my own puzzle with the help of the platform you used to make the puzzle but I only shared it to my friends and those who I taught about crypto.

Oh sorry, I didn't officially 'stash' a Bitcoin public key so far, I only did a signature once in this thread, so it shows up in my addresses section on Ninjastic! Reused that, hope it's fine Smiley I think I could have also sent a blurred screenshot again, but this is more cypherpunk Wink

OK, I've got it. Once you show  a blurred screenshot or (in the case someone else send his solution)  add the URL hidden behind  BTC  signature your provided above and relevant to your bc1qf7npwuxh6mz95s42682my3wxvpuyg96ss78thf  address I  will count your findings for #8 crossword.

I was actually thinking if it's possible to create a zero-knowledge proof so someone can prove they solved a crossword, without posting the solution directly, but couldn't come up with something good so far. I should probably do a web search; if it's possible, someone has certainly already done it.

Anyhow; I forgot to post the solution, but I guess since tomorrow marks exactly 1 week, I will add it tomorrow, hopefully someone else can find a solution as well Smiley

It seems soliton is back for more puzzles to be answered. I was mentioning this thread on the other thread called give this bitcoin test as it reminded me of this puzzle I managed to answer before. Good to know this was updated. Thanks once again. I managed to help a fellow forum member to test his/her knowledge about cryptocurrency.

Well, but you forgot to add to your post your public pgp key so that I could check the solution. So I can’t count it and consider #8 as not being solved jet. Please don't hold it against me. As soon as you provide evidence I will count you as a solver.

BTW, how did you manage to  guess about attack if you didn't know about that type which was put into crossword?

For the attack; I looked around the web for 'Bitcoin attacks'; but as always in these crosswords, that's one of the trickiest question since this search term brings tons of crap, like exchange hacks and the like and never actual real attacks. This makes them so fun though! Cheesy Let's say, I found the answer in a place most of us here know very well.... ^^

Cool thanks! I'm down to 2 missing words so far! 9 across wasn't too hard though Grin
I didn't know about that kind of attack (5), very interesting way to fool someone into accepting a transaction after seeing 1 confirmation and then it's invalidated again afterwards due to chain split.

Edit: got it! Cheesy
To let the others still try it, I'll add a new post (no edits) with the signature to the solution URL. Will add the URL to this post in a few days or so!

a later block can even have an earlier timestamp than the previous block, that's not an issue as long as it's not too much deviation.
Correct, but once the block in the chain  this field can not be modified. Therefore, looking for answer you you had to sift through  all stuff which prevents block from alteration. Sure, there is no such officially recognized term as "block guard". But this is crossword the keys of which may have loose meaning for fun.
Alright, I guess that makes sense, so in that way anything that is part of the block hash is a block guard Cheesy

I just tried the URL: https://crosswordlabs.com/view/solitons_bitcoin7 and found a new crossword! Solved it already, too Grin
Was small, but fun! Here's my proof:

Crossword 6 is not yet solved, right? I'll try that first then, before the other missing ones.. Grin
It is already solved
Oh yes but no solutions published Wink

Damn, what the hell is a block guard Grin
I have brute forced it as "timestamp'. I don't know why the key to this word was chosen as " block guard" and can only guess that  because timestamp affects the hash of the previous block  in the header relevant to the current block   Anyway, the key to this word  is very tricky indeed, and I believe anyone  could hardly solve this without  brute force help.
Alright, now I have all words. But the clue is actually wrong in my opinion. The timestamp doesn't guard anything; in fact, a later block can even have an earlier timestamp than the previous block, that's not an issue as long as it's not too much deviation.

Here's a good article about it: https://blog.lopp.net/bitcoin-block-time-variance/

Spoiler, here's my solution:

Everyone, lock your eyes on this thread. New crosswords are coming.
Sick! Just discovered this topic earlier and doing the crosswords, just solved a few so far. I also learned new stuff and refreshed my memory on a few concepts, really great.

Crossword 6 is not yet solved, right? I'll try that first then, before the other missing ones.. Grin

2, 1, 3,4, 9, 10 and 5 were the easiest to solve.  8 and 5 are  a bit harder and have taken some time.  7  is very tricky and was cracked in fact by applying the brute force technique.
Indeed, 7 is tricky but my only other missing one is 4, I think I'm close since you say it's an easy one! Number 5 was one of my first ones, though :p Damn, what the hell is a block guard Grin
Edit: Got number 4, it's very easy indeed! I was looking for address formats or such.  Roll Eyes

Guess I came late to the puzzle since is limited to the first two person, would have tried my hands on it

Nope, it's not late for every person unless the puzzle is closed. The #6 is still in the open state as the solution was provided by no body. Therefore you can  take on the task of that crossword. Besides of that you can look through out crosswords solved already to get extra knowledge.
True, I only manage to answer puzzle number 5 as which no one tried to answer all of it and later on someone did answer puzzle number 5 until I got a clue which I finally got the right answer. Imagine, for each puzzle posted in here I only got the chance to answer puzzle number 5  but now you got a chance to answer puzzle 6  as mentioned on quote above that you are not late. Good luck. I even created one crossword puzzle myself. If you like I can share the link and provide answers if yoi find it hard for further learning.

Hello there... In this thread I'm intended to publish  crosswords created by me with the use of online tools.

The first Bitcoin_#1 puzzle can be found on this page.  https://crosswordlabs.com/view/bitcoin-crosswords.

And now here's how it looks on that landing page which can be used  for the ease of solving.

Are you knowledgeable  enough to challenge  it?

P.S. Needless to say I will give merit/s to the first user who solves my crossword puzzles.

Guess I came late to the puzzle since is limited to the first two person, would have tried my hands on it

Why didn't I think of checking the full list of op codes. I could have found the answer sooner LOL than late. Anyway, this crossword puzzle did help me to learn and also this will also test my knowledge about crypto. Some clues made me do some research and sadly did not find it as I have been passing the answer. I have been checking the codes but did not fully check the codes. Not really. #5 is not as hard as the initial ones. I gave a try to it and got most of them right. But I won't destroy the fun like last time so won't be posting the answers. Here are the ones I was able to solve though: https://i.ibb.co/3fZLLSm/Screenshot-20210416-113454-01-01.jpg

Okay, It seems you got the right answer of other puzzle. I only need three more answers to find which is the number 9, 5 and 3. I am having a hard time finding the answer of boolean script operator. It didn't take me too long to answer the rest  which I asnwered it smoothly. That three clues is what I didn't get the answer and spend 4 hours finding it as I mentioned in my previous post.

I know the 'payment type' one is easy, I already got five correct letters in the word. But my mind is playing with me, can't hit on the word. Cheesy Give me the solution now, can't bear it anymore. Grin

Wow,  the fun trampoline is working. The fourth puzzle was ground to the  dust.  webtricks, you left me no choice but to create a new puzzle. From now on the #4 is closed. The next will come tomorrow.

That was smooth!

I surrender. It seems I can't fully answer all the puzzle, I am having fun looking for answers but sadly I can't find some of the answers. I think the clues are a bit deep. I was getting close as I only have 3 left clues to look for answers. I have spent 4 hours answering puzzle #5. You are right it is a bit harder in your POV but mine is much more harder  Grin Grin Grin.

I spend some time finding the correct answer of number 3 and 5. i have a feeling that the answer of number 5 starts in "TRA" but I just can't think that it is the trampoline payments. Meanwhile, I also tried to find the dusting attack but it seems thta I can't find it in time before the answer is revealed. Better luck next time. I have fun answering and learning at the same time, also it brings me to other bitcoin related topica during my journey of finding the answer.

All its words   have a lot to do with bitcoin as shown in the following picture,
I know I'm probably not supposed to ask questions but is #7 also directly related to BTCitcoin?

It’s been two days and no winner yet? Don’t keep my  next crossword puzzle waiting too long. It's ready but it will only be published once the second  one is resolved.
I've been trying since last night to solve the last one [#7] but had no luck [SS of my results without revealing the answers]...
- I'll update this post if somehow I manage to make it right but I highly doubt I'll be able to; At this point, I'm just guessing words that have nothing to do with BTCitcoin [my head is exploding].

Update:
It sounds good.  By all means you question is  within the extremely narrow bounds. And sure, thing  #7  is  directly related to bitcoin. Will give you a little bit more clue to #7.  This library may be  used in algos to build the bandwidth-optimized  gossip protocols.
Thank you for the added clue, I appreciate it Smiley
- I've been searching for the past two hours with no luck [I'm going to stop for now and resume at night].

Update 2:
Update: one of bitcointalk moderators has contributed to it.

Update 2 : I have added a companion  to this puzzle which could help https://crosswordlabs.com/view/solitons_bitcoin2_companion

2.across in this companion is the the same as 7.down in soliton's_Bitcoin#2

From soliton's_Bitcoin#2 you have already got one characters for #7 . From companion's 1.down and 3.down which are easy to solve you will add  two letters more. With three letters known and all the clues you should guess  the correct library.
Thank you for the added clues but unfortunately, I think I've been either cursed or my brain just automatically shuts whenever it sees the word library [SMH].
- Link

Update 3:
Don't lose heart, the task was  quite difficult and I made allowance for this.

From Update and 1.down of companion you have already learned that Gregory Maxwell is that man who has contributed into development of this library. Knowing the previous clue you could feed the search engine with following string "bitcoin bandwidth-optimized  gossip protocol Gregory Maxwell" .  This would you lead to this article https://www.cs.ubc.ca/~bestchai/papers/ccs19-erlay.pdf   By reading this article or using Ctr+F and "library" you could find its name i.e minisketch.

Read more on minisketch library.

You solved 90% of original puzzle + 2/3 of companion. Hope 2 merits will  cheer you up a little.
Thank you for the detailed explanation [I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to find it without you giving me the answer]...
- Honestly, I don't think I deserve those merits but I do appreciate them [thank you so much] Smiley

nakamura12, I can   understand you and at the same time  assure you'll be not annoyed solving my puzzles. If you fill the blank space in crossword on its landing page and you answer is correct you will  get the green check sign next to clue relevant to filled word after you click on the cell from other field,   like this

Let me guess the 8 across - its hilariousandco!!! It is the easiest among the others as we already know the S lol.

This game is fun tho. Soon if I could have enough time I might create a simple web app that could be a crossword game. It's a great idea tho! Sounds a lot of fun to play. Will try finishing this on my spare time  Grin Also, if you have already tons of crossword puzzles, I'll send you a PM so I will integrate it to an app.

This is what I was looking for. I am fond of answering crosswords but sometimes I got annoyed if I really can't get the right answer and I need to do some research for me to increase my knowledge more about crypto or other information. Since this is bitcointalk then this is important for newbies to learn and have fun at the same time.

Good job. That was a fun puzzle, with a couple of tricky clues in there. 1 down in particular was left until last and then almost brute forced from the known letters. I was thinking along the lines of "proofofwork" or "distributed" initially. Looking forward to the next one!

I'll include my solution in a link rather than embed the image so as not to force spoilers on anyone still trying to solve it themselves.
