Lol just for kicks im gonna try solo mining for about a week just to see if i get lucky i havet found a block on any pool iv been on over 50-75 coins earned thru mining for pools. And how do i know if i find one will it just show up in my bitcoin app ?
I started mid June. First 2 weeks in and I find one on deepbit. I was at 1.2Gh/s then. I blew a card and was getting it RMA'd and down to only 600Mh/s so said screw it and went solo since it was the weekend and no chance of getting my new card till Monday. I generated 50 coins plus the fees on Sunday the 2nd day of solo mining. I went straight back to deepbit 
. Figured I am way ahead and will stay that way! I am up to 2.2Gh/s now and have not found a block since on any of the pools I mine on.

I found a block on slushs with a single 5770 just after I first started, then 2 in a row not long ago at >3Ghash on http://ozco.in
This does not mean i would have found these 3 blocks solo mining.
Even when i was >50% of the pool at ozcoin a miner found a block on a 4870 x2 (his only card). Luck is a funny thing...

found 2 blocks in a week...with just 1.25gh
Congratz. I found my first block 5 days ago. I mine with 4,5 Ghash/s for 2 months now. Thats theory of propabilities
Ive been mining for slush and deepbit and i just found 2 blocks at those pools in a week 
..im pretty sure if i mine solo i wont find one for 6 months lol..my crappy luck..
