I solved this problem.

Apparently there's a conflict with xubuntu 12.10 and AMD catalyst 12.10 or greater.

I had to install xubuntu 12.04 and install catalyst 12.8.

This is extremely helpful... couldn't find a solution for this with xubuntu, so I gave up. Thanks for posting back your results Frozen.

The exact same thing is happeneing to me. Did this fix your problem?

Hate to ask such a dumb question, but where does one acquire 12.04 and 12.8?

Not a dumb question.

xubuntu 12.04 is available here: http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/

Direct link to catalyst 12.8: http://www2.ati.com/drivers/linux/amd-driver-installer-12-8-x86.x86_64.zip

Glad I could help. If you're feeling generous and have any unwanted bitcents, feel free to toss some my way. If not, that's fine too Smiley

Some more information:

When I configure cgminer to run both cards, it doesn't actually use the second one:

$ DISPLAY=:0 sudo aticonfig --adapter=all --odgc

Code:
Adapter 0 - AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
                            Core (MHz)    Memory (MHz)
           Current Clocks :    1000           1250
             Current Peak :    1000           1250
  Configurable Peak Range : [300-1200]     [150-1575]
                 GPU load :    99%

Adapter 1 - AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series
                            Core (MHz)    Memory (MHz)
           Current Clocks :    300           150
             Current Peak :    1000           1250
  Configurable Peak Range : [300-1200]     [150-1575]
                 GPU load :    0%

The same occurs if I configure cgminer to directly use the second card (using -d 1).

System: xubuntu 12.10
fglrx 9.0.2 [Sep 20 2012]
Power Supply: 850W corsair

I am running two gigabyte 7950's using cgminer:

./cgminer -w 256 -I 7 -v 1 -k diablo

Both cards get about 260MH/s.

If I only run one card, it will get about 540MH/s.

What do I need to do to get both cards running at 540MH/s?

Thanks
