What are the cons? I'm only using this machine for mining.
Look at the forum where you download the patcher, all info there.

Moar mining!!! .. oh wait, that's too much
Never mind, some problem with signature maybe this patcher fix all these problems. Only there are cons, but not for mining.
If you don't want this just run again the patcher or uninstall drivers and install new one it will over write.

I've tried the following - individually and manually.

garbage info windows sucks.

go to this link download and install

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-radeon-software-crimson-16-11-5-driver-download.html

this should work.

Don't do this below yet as I do not think you mentioned you have a modified bios

You need install patch
https://www.monitortests.com/forum/Thread-AMD-ATI-Pixel-Clock-Patcher
It's because of modified bios.

let me read it again

try telling me the driver you are attempting in install

a 17.xx

if so try 16.11.5

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/amd-radeon-software-crimson-16-11-5-driver-download.html

if that fails  try a win 7 install then try 16.11.5

Hi guys,

I've been running an RX480 in one machine flawlessly for close to a year. Last night I swapped it out with a 580 (still need to tweak the memory timings Roll Eyes) but everything is fine there.

However I took the 480 and put it in to an older machine (XPS420) so I could continue mining with it. The XPS420 machine I previously was using for CPU mining along with an HD 4870 (very old card now) which was just sitting there not mining (but working correctly).

I am completely unable to install the 480 in this second machine.

I've done a clean install of Windows 10 x64 using the latest version from the Microsoft website before starting.

Under device manager, the 480 appears with a yellow exclamation mark with the error 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)'.

  • I've tried using the AMD drivers from my first machine (known working with this card)
  • I've then removed the drivers in safe mode using DDU and the latest drivers from AMD's website.

In all cases the driver attempts to install, the screen flashes black and then the driver installation fails.

I've checked and the card is correctly mounted on the motherboard, it is getting sufficient power via it's 1x6pin connector I think - (the 4870 that was in there before could draw up to 280W via 2x6pin connections without problem).

Any ideas how to solve this?  Shocked Shocked I was up until 2am last night trying to solve this and have pretty much run out of ideas.
