if you are going through the trouble of using Bitcoin-qt, that is, having to download the whole blockchain, then why not make a little extra effort and also install ARMORY which I believe gives you even more protection, as you can create all your wallets completely off-line ?
After installed Bitcoin QT, users can not select the wallect filefolder, I suggest the wallet filefolder can be changed to the USB disk. if do it, after we logout the QT, the wallet.dat is in our USB, not in my PC, the safety is better.
Eh. I don't hold my wallet.dat on a USB stick unless it's encrypted & firewalled & triple bypass backed up.
