It's good that someone posted this because I would have never seen these.

For most people here in the forum, it's probably common knowledge already for almost all the parts. What's new to me is the largest BTC wallet because I never knew they had held the seized BTC in the FBI.

I hope there are more posts and new fun facts by someone here.

I believe there is an infographic about the history of Bitcoin posted in this forum, I am trying to look for it but as usual, failed.  That infographic contains the firsts of BTC since it was created until that infographic is created.  Hopefully, someone can find it and post the thread link here.

Question:- in all the facts above, which do you think is the most amazing and would not be forgotten in a hurry?

It would be this:

This transaction is the major turning point for Bitcoin.  It is the first real-world transaction that happens in the history of Bitcoin.  Aside from that, people won't fail to calculate and compare the dollar value of that 10k BTC between then and now.  Many are still astonished if they calculate the present value of BTC that is spent on that Pizza and may label it the 200 Million+ dollar pizza.  The most expensive pizza in the history of humankind.

More Fun Fact about BTC:

The Last Bitcoin Is Going to Be Mined in 2140[1]
Quote
Only 21 million Bitcoins can ever exist, as it is programmed into the coin’s code. It is estimated that we are going to be able to keep mining them until the year 2140.

The First Mortgage in Bitcoin Happened in 2019[1]
Quote
It was given to Brock Pierce. He spent more than 3,000,000 BTC on buying a renewed chapel in Amsterdam.

Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency Are Not the Same[1]
Quote
Cryptocurrency is the umbrella term for all the digital assets that you can mine or trade. Therefore, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, but it is not the only one. Besides Bitcoin, some of the most popular ones are ETH, Ripple, etc.

The Satoshi[2]
Quote
As a sign of respect for Bitcoin’s creator, the smallest unit of a bitcoin is known as a satoshi.

Liberland[2]
Quote
In April 2015, a micronation between Croatia and Serbia known as Liberland was born. It was founded by Vít Jedlička, a politician, publicist, activist and president of Liberland. The official currency of Liberland is bitcoin.

Buying pizza with 10,000 bitcoin is what I don't think I can forget, it's kind of funny but I believe if the person knows that bitcoin will get to the current price he or she won't even try it, I believe most of them believe that bitcoin will survive, I know the person will definitely regret buying pizza for 10,000 bitcoin but is late already.
according to some articles I read, in fact the pizza buyer or "Bitcoin Pizza guy" Laszlo Hanyecz doesn't regret buying 2 pizza pans with 10,000 BTC, he thinks that he has become a part of bitcoin history and people know him through transactions first bitcoin pizza. Laszlo Hanyecz is also a programmer from Florida and is currently assisting the crypto forum technical digabian to fix bugs and other things.
Yes as per his statement he doesn't regret dealing 10k bitcoins for just two pizzas but deep inside we know that he might be feeling really bad because that bitcoins are worth millions today so it can't be missed.Although there is one day specially dedicated towards it and known as bitcoin pizza day starting from him.

I know he will definitely say he didn't regret but I know sometimes when he thinks about it he will definitely feel bad, what he used to buy pizza now worth millions now, but it might not really affect him because nobody knows the amount of bitcon he is still holding now.

For me, definitely its the Pizza fact. That developer has purchased the Pizzas with 10k Bitcoins only to show the world the Buying power of Bitcoin and the real use of it coz at that time, nobody relied on Bitcoin and only a pinch of people knew about it. So to come in the eye of Large audience and investors, he did that Stunt. So yeah, it was daring and quiet memorable for me.
Secondly, that College boy who got these Bitcoins and who became the Pizza boy for that Developer, did not use the fund cautiously and spent them on the Flight tickets or some journey trip with his Girlfriend and he surely would be in Shock after some years coz he missed the once in the lifetime opportunity to become the millionaire.

The highest bitcoin mining hashrates now is United States and followed by Kazakhstan.
One of the reasons why the US is at the top of the list is due largely to favourable crypto policies, easy access to renewable energy and cheap electricity. Kazakhstan is still second place and Russia at third place. However, if the   U.S. Department of the Treasury aim at sanctioning  bitcoin miners operating in Russia  is successful, I doubt they will be able to retain the spot as world’s third-biggest destination for bitcoin mining.

https://www.investmentmonitor.ai/finance/bitcoin-mining-hotspots-energy-countries#:~:text=Since%20China%20banned%20crypto%2C%20the,)%20and%20pro%2Dcryptocurrency%20policies.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/20/us-treasury-sanctions-russian-bitcoin-miners.html

Biden administration signed an executive order that investigates the regulatory framework surrounding crypto currency. I've never seen the U.S. take a step away from governmental control and when there is a regulation, that generally means there is some government revenue to be made. IMO the U.S. won't be feasible for crypto mining for much long if high tax measures are implemented. Energy costs won't factor in the equation if the bulk of profits are paid to the government.

That's probably where the U.S. is head with regulations, but nothing's drafted yet.

feel free to grace this thread with bitcoin facts you know

Definitely one for the list is El Salvador's recogition of Bitcoin as legal tender,
Although not a powerhouse of economics, but the first to make the bold
move to recognise Bitcoin as an alternative to the US Dollar.

Date: 07/September/2021

There may be some newbies who would be surprised by Bitcoin Pizza Day and
why it is celebreated and reported on by almost every crypto news outlet.

Here is an article about the Lambo purchase >
https://www.coinspeaker.com/first-bitcoin-lamborghini/

Quote
In 2014, a 4chan user spent 216 BTC and bought a Lamborghini Gallardo for $210,000
at Lamborghini Newport Beach using a third-party service that verifies bitcoin. The legend goes that
the user leaked the buy on Reddit, and news of the purchase went viral. The dealership that sold the
car proclaimed it was the first exotic car dealer to accept Bitcoin as a payment method.

Maybe the thread title could be changed to Bitcoin Firsts

About the bitcoin pizza's by laszlo. It's the historical one and still a lot of people amazed on that purchase. They're calculating the current value of it rather than looking at that historical purchase that if it didn't happened, who's going to start it?
Also about Lamborghini, I guess there's the connection of it with the meme "when lambo". Any historian there that can confirm that?  Grin

The Lamborghini fact seems unfamiliar to me apart from this all facts are known, but I would like to see more crazy facts in the list which isn't known to the community but worth to know by everyone.

Still I can't expect how much the person will regret everyday about that pizza and 10K bitcoin story.

More than us, it is the person who had purchased those two pizzas. He could become a multi millionaire by now, but his fortune did not favor him. I would say it's more like a lifelong regret for him and he couldn't make it at the end of the day. That's truly unforgettable for the entire community.

I sometimes wonder where are thise 10000 bitcoins now! I mean one employee had received it but nobody knows what happened after that!
First of all, at that time nobody really expected to see bitcoin being as high as it is today; if we are all going to be truthful to ourselves, none of us really expected to see much of what we are seeing now. Anyone who has been around since then would really understand what I'm talking about. So I wouldn't really blame this guy for spending 10,000 bitcoins on two pizzas.

But, I’m just wishing that he never made the mistake of not investing back into the market after he has spent all that. If he didn't invest back, then that's when I will say that he really missed out a lot, because I believe he must have learnt a lesson after seeing how the price started to go up, that should trigger him to make an investment again.

Actually, if I’m right, those 120M $ in BTC decommissioned from the Silk Road were auctioned:

As I mentioned earlier, the 120M $ figure seems to be that of the data that was circulating on the media in early 2014. If that is so, between 2014 and 2015, 175000 BTCs were auctioned by the US Marshals Service as per this article. That roughly corresponds to 29665 BTCs decommissioned when shutting down Silk Road + 144336 recovered from Ulbricht’s personal computer. The latter amount is what this other article also set at a value of 120M $ (back in early 2014).

Nevertheless, in late 2020, the US Department of Justice made away with yet another batch of BTC originated from the Silk Road. This later batch was of 70000 BTCs, less than the amount mentioned in the prior paragraph, but amounting to more value in terms of USD: currently 2.930.417.000M $.

I think most of the facts aren't exactly fun and are very well known by the community. But the only thing that surprised me is that the FBI has one of the biggest wallets.

Recently, when they attributed the Ronin hack to the Korean Government, I was thinking about this reality that seems parallel, where governments have significant shares of the Bitcoin supply, with countries adding the currency to traditional auctions of learned items, but with several others only keeping .

For me, image no. 2 and 3 may still have a history where without Satoshi there wouldn't be 10,000 BTC to pay for 2 pizzas. We will continue to remember this story as history where there are funny things that exceed any humor in this world. It is unthinkable that 10,000 BTC will make us appreciate Bitcoin holdings more today. The essence of the wisdom behind this payment is so that we can continue to believe that in the future it may be that Bitcoin that is left even in small amounts will buy a lot of things.

Definitely, Pizza Day is a landmark event for the crypto community and one of the highlights of the funny moments in the history of bitcoin. Now buying a 2 pizzas for 10.000 Bitcoin seems crazy and no one would go for it if they could foresee the future (our days). But I believe that without Bitcoin Pizza Day, crypto community would not be what it is today and the impact of this day, despite the funny occasion, is invaluable. For I am sure that it was the Pizza Day that drew the attention of many people to the BTC and interested them.
bitcoin pizza day is a day that must be celebrated by all bitcoin lovers every year. I still remember the first time I heard this from people, buying 2 pizzas for 10 thousand bitcoins was crazy, now 10 thousand bitcoins are worth millions of dollars. what a huge fortune for those willing to make that exchange (bitcoin for pizza).

It's an okay design, but I wouldn't call these facts fun because there's not a single humorous one. Also, these facts can be useful to complete newbies who barely know the word Bitcoin, but everyone else surely knows about Satoshi, pizzas, and hash power (also, that it's no longer the case), at least. As for the most memorable fact, I think it's two pizzas. The exact sum can be forgotten, but the story itself is amazing and isn't something easy to forget. That being said, this story can be followed on Bitcointalk, I believe (I think I read that thread years ago), so the way the story is written is misleading, as was pointed out by stompix.

"Must know" facts, oh my god, nearly all of them are wrong.

1) Lazlo didn't spend his coins at a local restaurant, he offered 10k BTC to Jercos who ordered the pizza for him in exchange for the coins.
2) Lamborghini wasn't the first car company that accepted bitcoin, actually, even now you can't walk in every Lamborghini dealership to buy one with coins, it was a single car dealership that accepted coins
3) The coins that were seized from Silkroad have been auctioned in 2015, the rest are only 70k BTC , Coinbase is rumored to have more than 1 million BTC in cold storage, the single address with the biggest stack of coins right now is Binance's cold wallet with 250k.  BTC
Moreover, 120 million$  in BTC means 3k coins..
4) Again outdated by over a year, China no longer holds 60% of the hasrate

Whoever charged Remitano for this article tricked them pretty well.

Unforgettable history as long as bitcoin exists for the bitcointalk forum, However I don't know if it was the first, but the most famous early purchase was the 10,000 bitcoin pizza from Laszlo Hanyecz, a software engineer who also developed the first GPU miner for bitcoin.
and on May 22, 2010 it is now known as Bitcoin Pizza Day, and back then it was $25 for pizza and paid 10,000 bitcoins worth about $41 and is now a huge amount.

Some of the numerical data is tremendously outdated. Take for example the 120M $ in BTC that the FBI allegedly still holds from Silk Road. That number was already given (for example) in an article written in 2014

Quote
At today’s exchange rate these coins are worth just under $120 million, making the FBI the holder of the world’s largest bitcoin wallet – the standard ‘account’ for the cryptocurrency.
The source referenced in the OP has simply given a facelift to old information, some of which prevails whilst other is completely wrong now …

The China 60% mining power thing is definitely outdated now because of most big miners already exited China last year.
Exactly. China completely ban bitcoin and bitcoin mining (never had significant effect on bitcoin though, bitcoin price decreased at the time but increased back). The highest bitcoin mining hashrates now is United States and followed by Kazakhstan.

Total known power draw of global mining countries (Dec 2021)
