Ebay specifically prohibits the sale of currency. I know, because I tried to sell 10 as an experiment, some dick flagged my listing, and eBay sent me a message with clear threats of shutting down my account if I ever list one again.

Anyone know a way around this?
I still think selling boot-able USB sticks that contain a Linux distro, bitcoin, a bitcoin miner, and "starter" bitcoins would be a great eBay business/product. You're not selling currency, you're selling software and a USB stick.

You'll have to have a good eBay rep, though, because the person who gets it would have to trust that you didn't keep a copy of the wallet.

How does the seller prove that it was him who sent the money?

The transaction is signed by his private key.

Point them to the blockexplorer with your receiving address and the communication with seller, giving him that exact address.

Way easier than tracing cash or credit card transactions Smiley

How does eBay verify the transaction?  The buyer could just claim the seller never sent anything.   This is what I was told was the reasoning behind selling digital codes for games.

LOL

Actually if my memory serves me correctly, digital goods were banned from sale on ebay...

I thought this was the case as well. But perhaps it is only "copyrightable" downloadable products that are banned?

There are some linden dollars for sale on ebay... but only 6 sellers. If it were allowed to sell them through ebay I would expect many more people than that.

They allow Linden Dollars and other virtual currencies.  I don't see why Bitcoin would be singled out.

Plenty of people (including myself) have bought and sold cards for the Magic Online card game via eBay.

Genius or idiot?

he is selling them here... http://cgi.ebay.ca/1-50-Bitcoins-Bitcoin-Sale-Bit-Coin-Coins-BTC-/120735219786?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1c1c61404a

Apparantly has sold over 30 of them at 37 bucks a peice???

I guess you would have to sell higher than normal if you are risking paypal chargebacks/paypal account closures/etc...

Seriously if the seller is reading this, stop doing so now. You will only cause problems for you and your customers. PayPal will freeze your funds. They are the enemy.
