it is just a prediction. always believe in yours not in other prediction so that you didnt confuse

That's the truth. People will try to predict everything, but in the end you have to make your own decision, it's your money so make sure to conduct proper research and weigh the risks.
If you follow the herd, you will lose....

I predict the price will rise to $10000 within 5 to 7 years. So I will hold the coin I bought a few years ago.

$10000 in 5 to 7 years is not so challenging. If the bitcoin is developed properly, the bitcoin price could be even higher.

i hope that the bitcoin price will go to 10 thousand dollars per bitcoin but i dont think it is possible right now as the price is not going up so fast

The price shall go to $900 to 1200 later this year. I do not see any problem for that. $10,000 is for 2-7 years later.

Calculate the mining costs and you will see the truth is out there.

It should be somewhere around 500$ by now probably. It can go lower than 500$ because some people use free electricity but more or less it should be around 500$.

600+ is a bubble and soon we all will be witnessing that.

The revolution will be monetized!
That is regarding rise before/during/after the halving. What arguments are there for one or the other predictions, what should I believe?

You should believe that you are wasting your time asking a question that is provably unknowable. You may get confident answers from people full of BS. But you will not get a real answer, because none of us knows? That is a fact.

Well it blew past $500..

It blew past 500 and is being quite stable there, although its easy to speak in advance, the truth is that price of bitcoin during this year has been great, and it should continue to be for the rest of the year between 500 and 1000 USD, later on with passing years who knows , 10.000 maybe easy achievable. Lets wait and see , meanwhile try to build your stack of coins with any possible legal method. You could be rich after a few years who knows.

That is regarding rise before/during/after the halving. What arguments are there for one or the other predictions, what should I believe?

people that says that price will rise to 10000$ or even 5000$ are liars usually as this won't happen this year for sure, and also price won't rise to 500$ as price is 600$ at this moment

so i think that price after halving will rise to up to 1200$, maybe less, but around 1000$ anyway, and i have to say that most of predictors thinks same, that price will rise to 1000$

oh really? how do you know?

No body knows. Oh, maybe the big whales know the price. They have the funds to set the price they like.

Who are the whales responsible for the latest rise? Maybe some Wall Street investors sparing their change money to buy into bitcoin.

Seriously no one can predict exactly what bitcoin is heading at, however I do know that the general trend is up. Speculation is after all speculation, it's like gambling. No one can predict the outcome, nor is there an absolute truth.

I think a price of $1000+ is realistic for a timespan of 2 years. But if you say that it's going to 10k tomorrow, obviously that's unrealistic.

Any other asset class where people expect to double their money in 2 years would be labelled as a scam.
With Bitcoin, you are actually being conservative.  Grin

it is already above 570, today.

Bitcoin rule #21: One shall never predict both an exact price of bitcoin AND a date of such price occurrence.

yes it happened so quickly, meaning we could see prices rise with more than $600 when approaching halving. or we will see $600 more quickly in the next few days Cool

Never believe random users regarding the price nor the news articles. I've learnt my lesson with forex where they predict a low price and I lost my investment worth $250. You can choose to buy or sell but make sure to not hold in the hope that the price may increase as then if it drops, you may lose a lot. Holding can be good if it's done for a month or two.

There is no really truth behind because no one can predict this these days, it can rise to 1000 dollar but it can also rise to a much higher amount.
We cannot predict this at all its a matter of time.
its not just a matter of time, if people wont be interested in bitcoins at all the price might fall not grow, everything depends only on people and world events, nothing else

i think that the truth is that the price might touch a new all time high this year and grow to 10 thousand dollars in an upcoming decade, though thats just my guess to be honest

If it shouldn't be Bitcoin, the other coin also will have to be an open, global, borderless, censorship resistant, transactional and transnational network.Anything else will have no chance over the long run!

I know, but there are some options.

Right now i still think bitcoin is the one, but some of the alts might actually take over, especially if bitcoin keeps being so slow to adapt to changes.
Altcoins are desperate to take over bitcoins but none of them have managed to even last for 2-3 years or reach the price as BTC. ETH's fate is an example and hence even if the price of BTC reaches $100, it would still be considered better than altcoins and would be the dominating one.

in fact we can not guess the price of bitcoin, whether it's $ 500 or $ 10,000 it is very difficult to guess, and probably most people only rate of increase and decrease in the price of bitcoin in the previous year

Most extremely high predictions are based on the experience of the two breathtaking rallies of 2013: the first one from ~10 to 266 and the second one from ~50 to 1240.

They forget two things:
- It is far easier to move the price of a low-priced good.
- At least in the October/November rally of 2013 malfunctioning trading bots like "Willy" were a key component to the rise. So this was an exceptional situation.

We have already reached 500, as I predicted in another thread for May. Halving is coming, and so is coming speculation on this event, I predict 650-850 until the mid of July. Maybe even 1000. But not much more.

Long-term estimations are much more difficult. I have estimated a $100-300 bn cryptocurrencies market by 2020. But I'm not sure if Bitcoin will be the leading one. It may also be Ethereum, Lisk, IOTA or even NXT.

with a market cap of a tiny 8 billion bitcoin is still very cheap.

the net worth of warren buffet for example is around 60 billion. This is just 1 person. 1 Person who could buy ALL bitcoins in existence 7 times over and STILL have 4 billion USD left over.

The average amount of bitcoin per person on the earth is less than 0.003 bitcoin, this means that for the average person, 1 bitcoin has to be so expensive that they could not afford even a cent of a bitcoin (in fact not even 1/3th of a cent of a bitcoin.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHUPPYzzZrI

If Warren Buffet wants to buy 1 million bitcoin, the price of each bitcoin will be over $10,000 easily.

of course,

i'm just giving that example to state how ridiculously low 8 billion dollar is.

it's not healthy or sustainable for bitcoin to have a market cap so low that 1 single person could buy every bitcoin 7 times over (at current prices).

The price of bitcoin in 2012 was just $10. Now it is $500. It will just take some time to rise, so be patient.

I know....  I just have been trying to explain to people that the current price is ridiculously low to the point of not being sustainable, so they should expect a large rise.

Either bitcoin will die or bitcoin will become much more expensive, there is no middle ground.

and even if it's not bitcoin, at least 1 crypto will at some point reach a trillion dollar market cap.

Right now my bet is on bitcoin, but it might become another coin instead.

so 50x? we can expact another 50x in 4 years? in 2020 with the next halving would be 25k? lol i think it's a bit dreaming to think about that value, a realistic scenario would be 5k

My "a bit bearish" statement is only valid for a short-time increase, and only for this actual little rally of 2016.

I am sure that cryptocurrencies will be much bigger in a few years than now. In my last post I guessed a 100-300 billion USD cryptocurrency market for 2020. But as of 2016, they still have serious flaws (scalability, usability, volatility, energy consumption), and so they are not really usable for the Average Joe. So I expect a relatively slow, but steady increase in marketcap/value.

The average amount of bitcoin per person on the earth is less than 0.003 bitcoin, this means that for the average person, 1 bitcoin has to be so expensive that they could not afford even a cent of a bitcoin (in fact not even 1/3th of a cent of a bitcoin.

the truth is you do not trust people who say that prices will make much higher in the future like who the person prediction bitcoin price could reach $10,000 in the future for me it's not reasonable. i suggest you just follow the market seeing the moment you can get a profit.

I honestly think that we do not need anything to expect because the fact is that the bitcoin can also do nothing so I think its just that we need to wait and see what is gonna happen with the bitcoin.

That is right. I think we do not know the price tomorrow. But if we work hard and promote bitcoin, the price will be higher in the future.

I made a post earlier to Anonymint as to why it's extremly stupid to not hold as many Bitcoin as you can get right now:

Let's break out the list:

1)  Because it's literally a free money asymmetric trade, which is why the price is going up.  The odds of losing are far lower than gaining.

2)  There are only two monetary instruments on earth immune to cascading deflationary collapse of fractional reserve fiat from debts and loans going bad:  Bitcoin and Metals.

3)  If I buy gold, it has less utility than Bitcoin.  Where can I spend gold?  Nowhere.  All I can do with gold is mail it back to the gold dealer for 90% or less of what I paid for it.  Bitcoin utility is currently higher than gold for most people, yet the market cap is zilch.  Expect a correction to occur with Bitcoin market cap increasing because this is a truely distorted market if the tiny market cap asset has more acceptance and utility than the huge market cap one.

4)  Market cap is determined by market makers and market makers plan to raise the price.  People don't build 100 million dollar mining facilities and then let the price be determined by sheer luck or fate.

5)  Bitcoin moves in bubbles and there was an extremely long bear market accumulation period with observable hard floors.  Whenever a long accumulation period occurs on an actual liquid asset, the price explodes afterwards.  If you think Bitcoin is not going to see big moves, you are mistaken.

6)  The inflation rate is going from 8% to 4%, so it's actually a real currency now instead of some hyperinflating bullshit.

7)  Because fucking boats

QFT

I know a lot of people seem to hate you (and to be fair, even though i don't hate you, sometimes i do disagree with some of the points you make) but this is spot on.

It's not a question "will bitcoin explode" it's a question of "when will bitcoin explode"

It just takes a few million to raise the price of bitcoin to really high amounts.

Watch what will happen when some companies or rich individuals throw billions at it.

and why shouldn't they, the gold market is measured in trillions of dollars, with tens of billions traded on a daily basis (completely dwarfing bitcoin), why should bitcoin be so small compared to gold, even though it's better than gold in almost every way?

I also predict that the price is going to hit $500, we are so close to hitting it it has to happen with in a couple of weeks. The people that predict that the price is going to be 10,000 is something I do not understand it can happen later on over a couple years but not now.

The only truth is that nobody can give you the exact price prediction.
There are some arguments on both sides, these predicting $10k say that there is only one direction and Bitcoin must rise. These who predict $500 point out that there is nothing but thin air to support such a rise. Go and figure out which side has better arguments and don't be surprised if market goes in the opposite direction.

Slowly, I think the $500 price could only be reached in July or August. The price will trade below it for some time.

If it's going to happen, then we'll surely get to see $500 in the month Juli. Till that time the price will remain in the same trend as it has been for the last several months.

I think in the short term, the price could reach $500 in June or July. In 5-10 years, the price could be $10,000.

Yeah as mentioned the price could reach $500 soon but $10000 is not a possible value in long run. Now itself bitcoin has crossed 7years the price is around $440. So after 10years time from now reaching $10000 could never happen.

I can imagine a price of low to mid 4 figures around 2020/2021.
Fact is no one knows it and we will have to wait.We have our pessimists who can't even see Bitcoin climbing to 1000 again.
Then we have our true believers and dreamers who will predict you 6 figures easily in 10 years. And the rest lies somewhere between these two I'd say.Of course some believers of doom also see Bitcoin dying, how could I forget these guys. Cheesy

Anyone and everyone can make predictions. Some predictions are more informed than others. But no one can say or claim what the exact truth will be for the future. We will only know the exact truth when we get there. It also depends on how far ahead you are looking to. Are you just looking at the next halving or beyond?

That being said, it's seems pretty clear at this point, in my amateur opinion, given what has been going on with bitcoin and what is coming up for bitcoin, that the truth in regards to its price is that it will rise significantly not just with halving, but well beyond into the future.

I agree with you , zionists and other bankers cannot do anything to bitcoin at all, the maximum they can do , is giving us out big cash when we are going to sell them, not directly to the bank though, but thats what banks are only good for, to make us the money transfers Smiley
By the way, we all hope prices reach 10.000 USD but is more realistic a price of over 500 USD after the halving.
It is more realistic that it will reach the 500 because the price is now stable for a long time so it wont rise that fast now soon and we have to know that and just wait for a price increase.
There is only a possibility that it can reach the 10,000 after some 3 years than it would be possible but soon it will not happen you need some patience for it.

The truth is that $10,000 is impossible, $500 is likely. If you really want the truth, make your own technical analysis and try to fine tune it as much as possible, using historical data and market movements in the past. It won't be representative of what will actually happen, but it will probably give you one of the better estimates.

I would guess that there most certainly will be a rise by this year end, maybe event to the 1k area, which will probably be followed by a correction.
It all depends on what timeframe you are looking at. If youre talking in years, 10 k isnt such a big deal for a 10 year plan for example.

Common sense. Once Bitcoin prove that it can recover from what a lot of people thought it was a fatal crash (from 1200 back all the way down to 150 dollars as the last floor after the ATH) the psychological fear of 1000 which is by itself a classic psych fear number, is crossed, then ATH is crossed, FOMO will kick in and we will see a massive pump of the price of unfathomable highs. 4000 is simple a good guesstimation.

I think personally that the value will only reach the $500 in the end of the year and the reason why I think that is because you also soo now that the value is not even rising now.
And the value kept stable for a long time and that is already not good for the currency itself so it have to rise soon otherwise people will dont like it anymore.

I think the consensus is we will be seeing $500 BTC before the halving event, but the $10,000 prediction is a bit much. I think it will have a hard time getting to $1,000 this year, even with the halving as there are a lot of people expecting the pump due to the halving and will want to cash out once we start seeing anything higher than $600. If it gets near $800 we will probably be seeing huge volumes of selling to the point it will probably drop back down to the $400 or lower before the slow rise begins again.

Looking at how long it has taken since the ATH on 2013 to now for prices to somewhat recover, I would guess we won't see any meaningful stability near $1,000 until at least 2020.

there is always going to be difference of opinions here in the speculation section and you can't say which on is 100% right and which one is 100% wrong.

you have to take it all in and decide for yourself. the $500 is the rise that will happen soon and it will continue going up in May and next months until it reaches a maximum.

but the $10,000 is a different story, i don't think it will be reached that easily. it will require this first rise then popularity then another rise then another adoption and so on which will take much longer to reach.

so here it goes, if you are looking for a short term rise in a couple of weeks then the rise is $500 but it is not going to stop there because the potential of bitcoin is so much more than this. so it will continue to rise at least to $1100 since it has already been proven that this price is reachable for bitcoin, and since this time there is literary a lot more investors and big services like steam for instance using bitcoin the price will rise so much more than the last ATH.

None could be believed since everyone is purely speculating about it and chances of them knowing what future has for us is zero. Recent rise is a good indication of 500 mark prior to halving and in the actual halving we could say it wouldn't be much difference due to the whole adjustments but after the halving is what we could say the main difference and I think it would be in 800 mark by that time.

That is regarding rise before/during/after the halving. What arguments are there for one or the other predictions, what should I believe?

You shouldn't believe any predictions.

You should read any analysis that accompanies a prediction, and assess whether or not you agree with it. If there's no analysis - ignore the prediction. If you don't understand the analysis - ignore the prediction (this could easily be because the person making the prediction doesn't understand what they're doing).

Some people are better at analysis than others, but even then - they get it wrong sometimes. Do your own analysis as well. Just because someone has had good results in the past doesn't mean that they will in future - they could just have been lucky!
