I don't think OP restored someone else's wallet. He probably expressed himself wrongly.
Because he used the wrong derivation path he was presented with a different set of address than he originally had. Seeing that he probably thought that he had gained access to someone else's wallet which was I use empty.
@OP is this correct?

I selected the wrong derivation path and was presented with someone else's wallet.
I was thinking that if how did you know that it is someone else's wallet.

Did you found some bitcoins from that wallet?
If you found a Bitcoin under that derivation path and you can send the Bitcoins from that wallet. There's a possibility that your wallet generated from Trezor is compromised.

But if not and you don't see any balances from the wallet(Wrong derivation path) it means it's not a bug. The generated addresses from the wrong derivation path are still your wallet but in different derivation path.
No one else can use and find that wallet except for owners who have the seed backup.

Think of the derivation path and seed combination as being a tree.

Your seed is the trunk and the derivation path is the branches from that:

m/0'/0'/0' is the leftmost branch at the bottom going three times across to the leftmost bottom branch.
m/0'/0'/1' is the same as above but it a branch one higher where you split on the last branch in the example above.

As long as there wasn't a balance in it then it is still sort of your wallet as you'll maintain as much control of that as you will your other.

I am trying to find out if this is normal.
It is entirely normal to be presented with a different set of addresses when you choose a different derivation path. Some derivation paths will present you with different types of addresses altogether, and some derivation paths will present you with different sets of the same type of address.

As DireWolfM14 has said, the likelihood of you having the same seed phrase and passphrase as somebody else, and therefore accessing somebody else's wallet, is essentially impossible unless the seed phrase you are using wasn't created randomly. But if it was created by your Trezor as I think you mean, then you definitely haven't found somebody else's wallet.

I have reached out to Trezor but it was suggested by someone more experienced than myself that it might be a bug in electrum.
It doesn't sound like a bug. It sounds like you just choose the wrong derivation path on the Install Wizard. Every seed can be used to generate entirely separate legacy (P2PKH), nested segwit (P2WPKH-P2SH), and native segwit (P2WPKH) wallets and addresses. All the wallets are yours.

What makes you think it was someone else's wallet?  Did it contain transactions that you did not make, or addresses you do not recognize?  Different derivation paths will generate a completely new set of addresses.  If you see transactions then yes, you may have stumbled on someone else's seed phrase but that seems extraordinarily unlikely.

Hello,

I resoired a BIP39 seed and one 'extended seed' word from a Trezor wallet.

I selected the wrong derivation path and was presented with someone else's wallet.

I tried again and selected the right path and got my own, but it has left me confused.

I am trying to find out if this is normal.

I have reached out to Trezor but it was suggested by someone more experienced than myself that it might be a bug in electrum.
