I assume your cousin means blockchain explorer, when he says address tracker.

An example of a blockhain explorer is https://blockchain.info .
There you can enter your BTC address and check the balance.

If the transaction is brand new, it could take some time for the node that is connected to your wallet to display that there is indeed a transaction coming your way.
