To spend that 1 satoshi would require a fee of ~5430 satoshis.  Sound like a great deal now?  It is very likely the transaction will never confirm (because no miner wants to waste space in a block for that monster tx) and thus eventually it will be dropped from the memory pool.

Yea thats the main problem, it doesnt gets approved and just burdens the network. Creating problems for the network itself.

Me too, what r they doing sending everyone 0.00000001 Smiley

What about the fee?

The sender can easily create raw tx with 0 fee or way below min fee, and the tx will never get confirmed Smiley

Me too, to blokchain, after a day or so it was 'cancelled'

Someone's playing with the network.

Another reason i'm short right now.

The withdrawal technical problem of Mtgox could be bigger than just a mtgox's problem cf https://bitcoinfoundation.org/blog/

But I don't think that we have to worry too much about the one satoshi sent because it is a known "problem", the satoshi received by OP was obviously sent for marketing purposes
If the transaction get confirmed it could make the receiver loses 0.0001BTC in fee and complicate accounting but that's about it

Yeah, like I said.  Send me money and I'll glad take a gander at your website Smiley

Going to wait until the tx confirms though Cheesy

One satoshi is (still) virtually nothing, even if hundreds of websites send you some satoshis you won't be able to send them without paying a 10,000 satoshis fee with most clients...

Apparently they didn't send it just to you

It could be a marketing trick : technically you can get 100,000 persons to see your website for 1$!

If you click on the arrow in the upper right corner after Play and Win BTC on the blockchain you will be redirected to the website

So I have an address setup that's watch only and sends me an alert everytime there is activity on the address.
I got the message "Someone sent you 0.00".  I went to blockchain.info and find this tx in my list of unspents...
https://blockchain.info/tx/36cfd7cdbb778e4132e66d89fe737779ad589877f7565252ec84d76a1bb9b755

According to blockchain.info the sender looks like a company called "Play and Win BTC", which would be lovely except I never played so I'm not sure how I could have won.
My immediate thought is that this is a really cheap way to advertise something, but since I don't have a link to the site I have no idea who, what or why is being advertised.

This is almost really cool!
Anyone who wants to advertise to me, please feel free to send as much BTC as you like to 1LE4D5ERPZ4tumNoYe5GMeB5p9CZ1xKb4V I promise to look at your site Smiley

In the meantime what's the Play and Win BTC business all about?
