You could also review this thread, not that it's a great one, but it covers a few of the basic points surrounding the answer to your question:  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/when-is-a-smaller-block-time-worse-716819

You might want to check out this thread: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitcoin-adopting-unique-alt-coin-features-685048

Once there are features worth implementing, Bitcoin will probably implement them. The problem is that right now there are none. Most alt-coin features are useless publicity stunts (built-in exchanges, messaging, etc.); are already implemented (scripting); or might be implemented one day if such need arises (proof of stake?).

You might also want to read up on the subject of side chains. Those allow new features to be implemented on top of bitcoin without protocol modification, and about distributed oracles ( https://github.com/orisi/wiki/wiki/Orisi-White-Paper ) which allow for some other cool stuff which none of the alt-currencies allow or ever will.

Obviously I am invested in BTC and I love the Idea , all I do during my day to day duties, work, play, eat , tv etc.... is read the BTC Buzz feeds on my phone..

I have seen a few comments about Qrk which lead me to see the specs - so I know the spec differences between Qrk and BTC but in the specs the MAIN thing that the majority would actually care about is Qrk being better in transaction time.... Blocks created in 30 seconds vs 10min BTC obviously meaning ultra fast confirmations... No need for payment processes worrying about 0 confirms risk or gambling sites doing dbl spends etc...

What I dont understand is why the speed difference is enormous and if that is open source and we can see that it has quicker transactions and it works well why cant we implement into BTC, infact why not pick out the best out of all the coins and put them into the KING of the coins BTC?

I really know nothing when it comes to the coding of the protocol, all I know is other coins are working with some good stuff, cant we take some stuff from there, I mean they all came from bitcoin really, so why not take some from each of them now? Ok so for example about transaction time Is there any downsides that we HAVE seen taken place in qrk that will make it not implementable in BTC

thanks guys,  Reason I posted this here is I want to hear this coming from BTC-PRO people and people who want BTC to advance, I dont see why we should jump to another coin when we can make one as good or better.
