Ok, makes sense.  Thanks guys.  Maybe I'll request that the change addresses be shown in the "Your Receiving Addresses" list as well.

That's why BBE has this on all address pages...

Note: While the last "balance" is the accurate number of bitcoins available to this address, it is likely not the balance available to this person. Every time a transaction is sent, some bitcoins are usually sent back to yourself at a new address (not included in the Bitcoin UI), which makes the balance of a single address misleading. See the wiki for more info on transactions.
So the change addresses aren't included in the "Your Receiving Addresses" menu item in the client?  How can I find out what my change addresses are?

that's correct, you can't see them in the GUI... you could list all your addresses and see their balances received amounts by using the RPC command:

listreceivedbyaddress(0,true)

The client will give you transaction IDs. You can then paste them into block explorer. The output address that isn't the one you sent to is your change address for that transaction. (Assuming the transaction has at least one confirmation.)

So, just for curiousity's sake, I go into my bitcoin client, Settings --> Your Receiving Addresses, and check each one in blockexplorer.  I add up the total, and find it is 11.17200002.  I look at the balance in my client.  It says 20.04 BTC (still running 0.3.20).  The most recent transaction in my bitcoin client was 600+ blocks ago.

What the fudge is up with that?
