well mine didnt die but it went away a couple times while mining.

recently i looked at my miner and saw a redx on the volume.. hovering over it it said the sound service wasnt started.. didnt really want to look into it at the time.  had to restart later due to some overclocking problems.. nd noticed it had come back on.. a couple hours later, i noticed it was off again.. turned off he system and back on and it has worked for the past couple days so far. dont know if it is related but that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

I have the *exact* same problem on the only rig I run at home (only 1 card).

The sound died out of nowhere one day.
I can plug in speakers or headphones, it says plugged in, but no sound comes out.

The HDMI connection will produce no audio either so that's a no-go.

Can the heat exhaust from a GPU really burn out the nearby audio port?

I don't think temperature would be the cause for an on board sound card to stop working. Have you tried using a front panel sound output to test speakers?

I'm not looking for a solution, just wondering if steady heat is to blame for my sound no longer working. Windows can tell that speakers are plugged in and the device appears to be runing fine, but I get no sound no matter what I do. Including resetting bios and running live linux distros. Pretty sure I burnt out my motherboards onboard sound. It was working find before I turned it into a dedicated rig. Temps werent even that high. Is this common?
