This is very interesting if all miners can be self-sustaining by utilizing one's natural energy such as wind, perhaps the main problem of the PoW system can be overcame. But still this feels like less effective. What if mining is combined with activities like one of them playing games, may be more interesting. But unfortunately there are still few who develop this. The motivations of the miners mostly only take advantage of what the coins will earn.
