Cool beans.  However, I'm looking for a friend who will be traveling through, not necessary moving to Spain to work on a project.

I hope someone else gets involved though!

Got an English version of that report?

No. I'm sorry.

If you would like to connect me with the grocery store, I can explain how Bitpay can help them accept bitcoin payments (and possibly not even need to worry about bitcoins if they prefer local currency).

I can try to find someone who speaks spanish if that's a requirement.

I think that if I don't convince him, no one will do. I buy my groceries there every week and the guy trusts me. I'll keep trying. And I will certainly mention Bitpay if he gets interested Smiley

There are almost no btc stores but its easy to understand because btc it's all geeky and by young people, and most of the people with any kind of bussiness there is old.
There are many that just trade the btc however, if you are from the US you will find btc the cheapest way to move money to Europe, just open an online account at an spanish online bank , for free and get free transfers and visa. and sell btc at kraken.com they got 0.1€ withdrawall fees!

i would have thought it would appeal there due to the risk of bank deposits being frozen?

That's an uncomfortable idea and people try to avoid thinking of that. My parents ignored me when I suggested them to take some money out of the bank some month ago, when news on the possibility of an Euro collapse was flooding the headlines.

Your place is the "Do Eat" restaurant. It is located at "Calle Maria de Molina, 18" in Madrid. 200 meters away from the Gregorio Marañon metro station.

I have just come back from there with a friend of mine. Had three beers, a pizza, a salad and a smoothie. Paid with bitcoins. Total: 0.30 BTC.

Good to hear your friend is going to travel to Spain, it is a beautiful country Smiley
Sadly your friend is going to have a really hard way to find places to pay with bitcoin... Currently is only one restaurant in all Spain, Do Eat!, accepting bitcoins (and not always), it is located in Madrid.

You can check this website to find all the places you can pay with bitcoins: http://mercadobitcoin.com/

If you need any other help for Spain I will help you!

My buddy is traveling to Spain, so it's time to tell him all the opportunities he will have to spend bitcoins during his trip from barcelona to madrid.

I will search the forums & various bitcoin merchant location site & report back here.

My buddy leaves October 18th, so we have time, but I figured i'd see if others have suggestions, or can help with the research.

I assume directing my buddy to install blockchain app onto his Nexus tablet will get the job done.  If people recommend other apps for Spain, please do share!

Thanks in advance!
