Your country may be your worst enemy
Nobody should give any attention to this, this is only an unofficial proposition from a guy who isn't a leader in his party.

could be a good thing, the Spanish are famous for their hospitality

On the other hand, UPyD supporters and policitians are not.

Best case scenario: their usual time line is followed and  regulation will be enacted in about 10 years. Possibly replicating other eu regulations that will presumably be in acted in the interim.

Fortunately for me this is also by far the most likely scenario. Not that any regulation will probably make any difference. Bitcoin seems designed to dodge them all.

Pray for the  btc users of Spain, their government is one of the most useless pack of headspinners in Europe.

Best case scenario: their usual time line is followed and  regulation will be enacted in about 10 years. Possibly replicating other eu regulations that will presumably be in acted in the interim.

Worst case: they somehow get something through before the rest of Europe and they set some backward ass precedents which will take even longer (than above) to fix.

Best thing to do is keep quiet, like btc is nothing to worry about, they'll ignore it and maybe the eu can come up with something first that they will just follow (not that i think eu will provide good regulation, but there's a better chance than Spain doing it!). Just distract them with basque, catalan and galician independence threats ;p

Why must Bitcoin be regulated at all? We always fall into this trap in society! Once regulated we are all at the mercy of our so called democratic
governments

I just wonder how they were going to do that. I mean to regulate. You can't force your way to tax every transaction or require identification for transfer or withdrawals.

but what if these 'regulations' prevent ordinary people from investing in BTC because it's a high risk investment..?

That means, MORE COINS FOR US!! Yeeeeehaaaa.
Bitcoin is not about investing. It's about a transition from one system to another.
Let them stick in the old system while we forward into the new system.

No regulation at all!
We have so many regulated currencies, markets etc. which all the ppl who want regulation on a huge scale can work with.
However, some do not want to have their means of exchange regulated, so they use Cryptocurrencies, mostly bitcoin.

It's a matter of choice. There are enough choices for the regulation yelling people, hell they can even invent new stuff that perfectly fits current regulatory rules so it can be easily enforced on those assets. If they want regulated stuff, create some, get some, work with it etc... but leave our money alone.

Everyone has got to have a choice, and those who choose an unregulated currency will have to live with all the advantages and disadvantages that come with that choice, but leave our freakin money alone!

Quote
"Given the shared characteristics with other payment systems, incidents could be linked to the lack of intervention by public banking authorities."

I like this quote, but these beauracrats are utterly useless at regulating things they don't understand, hardly any of them will use a computer on a regular basis, their assistants could probably do a better job of writing up laws for it.

the documents stated this :

""Bitcoin should not remain in a legal vacuum, without the appropriate supervision.""

When asked about the proposed legislation, Nacho Robles, a law student and UPyD member, he said

""I am all for regulation if it serves to offer judicial security, but against it if it triggers persecution from the central government. I would say that there is quite a lot of expectation around this in Spain as appropriate regulation will help the sector.""
