I like the idea of a subforum.
It might be a pity to lose the sticky link at the top of Bitcoin Discussion though.

Hopefully the originator of the press thread, jgarzik, can weigh in and tip this in one direction or another.

Fine by me.

I would support this (a "press" subforum with one thread per item).
+1

I just asked Julz for his opinion since he's the top poster in the "press hits" thread.

"better" in some sense would be a dedicated sub-forum "press & marketing" where all those news hits are individual postings and if necessary, discussions are below the respective ones.

just my 2 cents.

"Notable Press" is one of my favorite threads and I wouldn't mind having to check a subforum (I don't usually click into forums at all, mainly use "new replies to your posts" or sometimes "unread posts") if the upside is easier finding of discussion thread. How often have I wanted to discuss an item from the press thread and there actually was a thread for the item but it wasn't link and I didn't look for it (hard enough).

Do you guys think people would use it?
i definitely think so.
also, getting input from "outside" about what they perceive as bitcoin is quite interesting to discuss.

Good ideas.

I don't know about having just a single thread for it, sticky or not. Will probably just get too cluttered and confusing. I like the subforum idea, have separate threads for the hits so people can talk about those articles in depth if they wish, instead of two pages on how someone totally got x wrong. Or perhaps a sticky in that subforum with news links, and people can create new topics for the ones they wish to discuss. Having a new thread for each one might be a little overkill. Then add a local mod to keep it in order (splitting discussions from the sticky mostly).

Maybe this one could also be a sticky.

The problem with these kinds of threads is that everybody forget they exist and where they are.

I did make a comment in the main thread just because I couldn't help myself. I understand that it is pollution. So yeah, beat me.
