It's a good thing because to be honest, while there are countries that are legalizing gambling, lots of countries are also banning it. As more countries allow gambling legally, I hope that they would also educate people about the proper handling of gambling so their citizens wouldn't get addicted to it.

What do you think of this news??
Due to the pandemic effects even states and countries with an anti-gambling history are changing their approach in an attempt to increase the receipt to balance the economical situation of the public administration. After so many years or decades blaming gambling, it looks like it has finally turned into a possible solution for politicians to make their mandates more efficient.

That is not a bad thing though, because a regulated market is more attractive to a certain portion of the population who avoids activities which lack official permissions. Now with the legalization of gambling, the population may feel more confortable to start betting without the fear of being stigmatized for doing something illegal.

From Ukraine to the  Netherlands  and now Connecticut in the US, I must say that it is good news for the gambler, gambling operators and for the state. I reckon we are so close to bitcoin being approved as a payment method.

It happens when we are in a pandemic, gambling is the easiest way to generate funds for the government and its job creator, let's face it because of the pandemic many businesses and industries are having a hard time coping, these states and countries are giving chance to an industry that can exist and operates and create jobs and gambling casinos online and offline can do this.

I am still in doubt about physical casinos if they can control the health protocol due to Covid. It's still frightening to interact with different people.

There's no perfect security against the virus that even how strict the protocol is, the virus can still breach the security. As long as casinos are maintaining it properly, that's good as gamblers will feel secured. But you know even it's frightening to interact with different people today, casinos are still jampacked and their capacity limit always hits. That's how comfortable people are now maybe because we already know lots of information about the virus today.

For sure there will be heavy regulations that come from their government and KYC verification should be a must on this.

Even without heavy regulations, fiat casinos always have mandatory KYC. If crypto will be added at those websites mentioned on the 1st page, it's like using a service like a crypto exchange, regulated companies that do crypto transactions.

It's a good news and a breath of fresh air, considering that the past few months brought forth lots of negative news about gambling.

Negative news this past few months? Like what. The topic isn't really news to cover those negative news, if there's any. If you are talking about regulations, as far as those topics here in the section are concerns, that's not negative news to be considered. Regulations are even meant to make gambling more user-friendly and give assurance that people are always covered.

which approved an amended agreement between the state and Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes that allows legalized sports wagering, online gambling and other new forms of betting, was published in the Federal Register.

I guess this includes cryptocurrency betting which is not a problem for the said state.

2. Is it regulated by Connecticut?
Yes, depending on the activities that are being engaged in, Connecticut General Statutes treats virtual currency similarly to fiat currency (a.k.a. cash) under Connecticut’s money transmission scheme.

If that's the case then yes, all is good news for them. It will be better though if they just keep on what they are used to for the past 2 years.

More players in the field = more competition and more benefits for the gamblers. They will have access to different platforms and the overall quality of sports betting platforms in the said state would increase. It's a good news and a breath of fresh air, considering that the past few months brought forth lots of negative news about gambling. It is generally a frowned-upon activity, but it brings in jobs and money to the economy.

the more of them, the better for the gamblers as they can compare the odds given to the gambling community. because if one or two sportsbooks only, the bettor has no choice but to use their services. but if there will be others, for sure, they will compete with others offering much better odds for the bettors, which is actually good for the players. sportsbetting industry is a lucrative industry and not only gamblers are benefited from this but the state itself, because that's a very good addition to their income.

Overall this seems like a really positive move for the gamblers out there, soon enough there will be better options for players to gamble safely within the regulations as well.

What do you think of this news??

No idea about the status over all of those mentioned platforms but if there's already an operator there, maybe a positive news a bit because there will be more options to choose from regarding sports betting. Just confuse here, are gambling totally ban there? Since sports betting was only mentioned, meaning casino games are the only allowed gambling there?

From what I understand from the article (correct me if I'm wrong), it's not that Connecticut state has ban gambling compare to what happened in the regulation of gambling in Ukraine and the Netherlands. It's just that two of the popular sports company, Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan will be granted a license to operate sports betting in that state but prior to that maybe there are already gambling operations there but not involving sports betting.

Almost all US States are gambling-friendly states. There are strict ones but not totally a ban to the majority of the states.

I noticed that more states now are legalizing gambling. This is good for the sports betting industry as it will increase their revenue, and not only that, it would also help the government to increase their tax collection, making it legal has better benefits than not regulating it at all.

Anyway, I also hope that it will have a positive effect on crypto as these gambling sites if crypto is legal could add crypto as a payment system and we can count that as another adoption.

Especially if the government also provides all the facilities that they must be aware of when addiction prevention cannot be controlled by them. Just as there is a disease, the hospital provides medicine to treat it.

I'm sure gambling from today's point of view is prone to addiction levels, I hope that's not the case there. The government generates monthly income from casino taxes, are the people there already prospering with their economic income? Before going any further, it should be stabilized and reviewed evenly.

I don't know if they are ready to adopt cryptocurrency on this but hopefully, there is, it is a great impact on us as crypto enthusiasts and crypto gamblers as well that there is a place that understands gambling and can able to manage their people about gambling. If this is well organized by them, it has good benefits to them and their country when it comes to collecting revenue. Nevertheless, all I can say is wait and observe the outcome for this, it could be risky too for their people to get addicted and commit crimes just to gamble.

The government of the day has no choice but to legalize gambling since it has become a way of life for so many. This is just a perfect news for gamblers who reside in connecticut. For day government another source of revenue is gotten. Legalizing it will reduce the fake gambling sites as licensing will serve as the demarcation between both

It's great news for Connecticut, it's just the whole American system is baffling to me - 50 states all working at different paces to create and repeal different laws seems like an incredibly wasteful exercise. I guess it's a way for politicians to keep getting work for themselves. I guess all of these states are seeing the large amounts of revenues that the Indian reservations make, they know people are gambling anyway so might as well bring in that tasty cashflow to the state in the form of taxes. It's even crazier that they did not even allow lotteries to run there, as they could be considered the laziest and least intrusive form of gambling, however if they are properly run can be a great boost for the coffers.

That's called federal structure and it is one of the most successful method of running an incredibly large country like US. The similar structure is followed in India as well which allows different states to formulate their own law based on the local need.

I believe what Connecticut has done is to increase their revenue to run the state and to maintain their infrastructure. Every state has their own unique population and unique needs to address. The legislators of Connecticut thought that gambling might be a good thing to introduce to fill their coffers so here it is!

What do you think of this news??
What I think is that people should try to know other ways to gamble, people should not be relying only on fiat way of gambling when there are many other options, cryptocurrencies provided more options, see as many gambling sites on this forum which offers cryptocurrencies as a means of deposit and withdraw, many people can use the reputed betting sites on this forum. I do not recommend 1xbit, but others are reputable enough.

To the people of Connecticut, I hope they will be happy about this, but they should know that cryptocurrencies can offer more.
What happens is that people will use what they have available to gamble, if they have fiat and they are not interested in bitcoin yet then it does not make sense for them to exchange their fiat to bitcoin and then gamble with it when they can just gamble with their fiat, on their minds they are adding an additional step that is not necessary for them to make, however give it time, there is a reason gambling is one of the stronger industries in this market, once we see massive adoption I am sure the number of people gambling with cryptocurrencies will grow dramatically.

Whosoever is living in Connecticut, there is a good news for the gamblers there, the sports agency have approved the master Gaming license.

It would be on-reservation sports betting plus the players would only be allowed place bets on temporary sports book.

Apparently they are still waiting on some documents from the lottery and therefore it would take time before the license can be finalized, but they are introducing it partially. Company calling it the soft launch.

The Department of Consumer Protection has approved the state licenses that Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun need to launch sports betting, while the Connecticut Lottery Corporation says it's aiming to roll out the first phase of retail and online sports betting during the first week of October.

The state agency approved the “master gaming licenses” for on-reservation sports betting on Tuesday for the two tribal casinos in southeastern Connecticut. It comes a day after a recent decision from the U.S. Department of Interior, which approved an amended agreement between the state and Mashantucket Pequot and Mohegan tribes that allows legalized sports wagering, online gambling and other new forms of betting, was published in the Federal Register.

A lot of positives definitely but it's still a vice so it's not a good thing to be too happy about it, too much is bad for everyone. I think crypto will benefit from this although a bit indirect since crypto sports bet and cryptogambling doesn't come first in someone's mind when it comes to gambling.

I don't think it's a problem if this has become an agreement that has been formalized by the government in Connecticut. In fact, they were quite enthusiastic when the opening ceremony was about to open. In addition, the list of casinos that have been recorded is a casino that is quite well known and has a license. Then additional sports betting became a popular betting event at this time and of course they made this betting trend an opportunity to attract gamblers to be able to bet at registered casinos.

I don't know if this is a good or bad impact that gambling is legalized in some countries. I'm more looking for what would be a solution and reassurance from people who seem to consider this a form of losing bets. There is absolutely no guarantee of any kind once everyone has started gambling. Even if there is a launch, will the government there only think about the level of income? and the effect later tends to be that the behavior of people who were originally dominant are less interested in gambling, even more wasteful when gambling has been legalized.

a launch like this will often make the area business friendly, it will attrack more people to open their business nearby and make a living. resort casino in my country have been the busiest even after a week where there was a shooting spree.

but this resort will probably not allow unvaccinated individuals to come inside.

I believe the system of soft launch that they've done is more on a smaller scale, Connecticut players but restricted to those who reserved first, as what OP said. It's pretty much like how hotel reservations and the like happen I suppose, and a dedicated app isn't that far off I think, but it isn't a necessity for now since I'd reckon they're only serving a small number of players at first, to check and see what would happen, hence the soft launch. It's a pretty positive idea for me though since it's a soft launch, there could be other negative results such as a player falling into addiction while in the soft launch, and honestly, that could probably bring more negative ideas compared to people not joining in to gamble.

Seeing this topic I initially thought how Connecticut does the system and rules to sports bettors in Connecticut.

You mentioned this.
Company calling it the soft launch.

So, I remember about Soft Launching, I've seen a system like this ever done in the Pokémon GO game, at that time, as explained below.

Soft Launch – Definition, Advantages, Strategy and Examples
Quote
Pokémon GO initially used a soft launching strategy by first releasing it in Australia and New Zealand. Later, after seeing the success, Niantic (Pokémon GO’s publisher) released the game out to additional countries like Germany, UK, and across the Mediterranean but this caused a tremendous load on their servers and made the game unplayable. This suggests that having a comprehensive soft-launching strategy that can test all aspects and possibilities of the official app launch is important to launch the product at the right time by having the supporting infrastructure.

So, I was wondering about sports betting doing a soft launch.

• Does Connecticut use a special application for sports betting that will be implemented later or how do they do sports betting with systems such as soft launching.
• Is it possible for Connecticut to use a dedicated App store for sports betting in Connecticut.

Like what i saw and i read happened to the Pokémon GO game, if they mention soft launch, that's great, for the company, but as I said above, how those especially those who live in Connecticut do sports betting on certain sites like it happens in Pokemon GO games or....!
