Why not run it off a usb stick?? All it has to do is load the app, and do a few read/writes every so often.

USB stick is no more fragile than a SSD.

Hmmm that's odd because I am looking there and my folder is much smaller. c:\user\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin
Could it be that your blockchains failed to download repeatedly so they have multiple entries there? Not sure, if I find some more useful info I'll post it here

My bitcoin folder takes 813 MB space when fully synced with the network. Maybe the OP doesn't have that much?
You could always just uninstall some programs and re-install them to the other non-SSD drive. I think leaving the bitcoin folder in its default location is a better approach, since I think the bitcoin software might be more at risk to not work properly when not in its default location

The bitcoin folder is small but look under users at the appdata, which is over 7 GB of bitchain or whatever its called.

Doesn't depend on the drive at all. I keep my OS on my SSD, put games and large apps on my HDD.
As for space on the SSD, google "disable windows hibernate". That will save you however much RAM (4GB, 8GB, 16GB etc) you have in SSD space.

Should I put my OS on the mechanical drive? How much does the mining depend on the drive its installed on. what would the effect on cost be?
