Stanford put a Bitcoin video on youtube. It was by one of their professors, and it wasn't very good. It also appeared to show a lack of understanding about Bitcoin. Stanford may not be the best university to do this. However, it's good that they recognise the future for Bitcoin, and hopefully other universities will follow suit.

Do you have to pay for the course?

If so then that would be why they are only offering it at that location.

Yes, you do have to pay tuition. But many other prestigious universities have hosted online classes for a fee on sites like Coursera as well. The advantage is that they can accept as many students as they'd like because finding actual space will not be an issue as all the lectures will be in a recorded video format or Live stream.

Except from CCN.LA: Stanford University is offering a lab course on building bitcoin-enabled applications. The course is scheduled to run from Jan. 4 to March 11 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in building 420-041 at the Stanford campus.

Why keep the class only on college grounds??? It's the year 2016 for crying out loud!

I think there's a lot of brilliant programmers beyond the college campus... If Stanford really wants to get the brightest minds engaged in this project to make real progress, they should offer this course online on something like Coursera with a Freemium offering. That way, they'll get more exposure for their school and help educate more people about Bitcoin.

I think its great that more and more diigtal currency related courses open. it is a sign that bitcoin is here to stay!

This course would be awesome if it wasn't paid!
