Also, it seems your chosen motherboard, Asus M5A78L-M LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3+), only can support 2 video cards and you'll need PCIE risers for the 1x PCIE slot. I'd recommend an AMD mobo like this one, https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/help-struggling-to-make-6-gpu-r9-290-rig-to-run-on-windows-7-solved-369043

You've received great advice already. I'd suggest saving some more wattage and $ with a simpler CPU, such as the AMD Sempron 145.

4gb ram is plenty.

You can save more $ and electricity with Linux on a USB stick. All you need is a 2gb USB stick to run this phenomenal dedicated linux mining OS. Cheesy

I've found a cheaper processor and motherboard, well the cheapest AMD FM2 ones.

Is that 4gb of system ram for each GPU or in total?

The market crashing is a risk but the graphics cards could be sold to gamers.

Your help is greatly appreciated  Grin

First of all, I'm jealous of your equipment. 7990... *drewl*

Anyway, about the rig you want to build.
First of all the processor doesn't have to be that great, you can really squeeze a budget proc in it and get away with it. (atleast, that's what I think)
Secondly, I think you'll need atleast 4 gb of DDR3.
I noticed last time when I bought a 270x, it needed a minimum of 4gb ddr3 otherwise it wouldn't work (and so it didn't with the 3gb I had available)

Anyway, the cards you want are massive, they should provide you with great hash rates...
Just hope that when you buy it, the markets won't crash. Would be a waste of a LOT of money Wink
Goodluck to you Smiley

Hi,

Today is my third day mining with middlecoin.com and I'm looking at making some changes or building a dedicated mining rig.

At the moment I've got one 7990 mining and have achieved 0.03 BTC from my first two payouts. But from today I've got 0.0261 BTC and there's more than four hours til todays payout.

I'm working out plans for building a dedicated rig and have come up with a spec and was wondering if this is good or what changes I should do.

GPU: 4 x Asus Radeon R9 290 "Voltage Unlocked"

Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LE AMD 760G (Socket AM3+)

CPU: AMD Piledriver FX-4 Quad Core 4300 3.80GHz

RAM: Corsair Value 2GB (1x2GB) DDR3 PC3-10666C9 1333MHz

HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB

I've got a 1500w Enermax PSU that I'd used.

What do people think of this? How could I improve it?

Thanks for you help,

Ste
