You don't necessarily have to promote this as a bitcoin related business because you are not offering business plans only for customers or companies who are related with cryptocurrencies. By promoting yourself as a bitcoin business you will have a hard time finding clients and it would take a long time to build some trust. The idea itself is good because I think a lot of people want to open their own business and you won't find good advice everywhere on the internet, especially for free since only a successful person can teach you that.

When starting any business always ensure to start moderately.
And always take advantage of the power of advertising.
You accepting bitcoin is just an added features to attract cryptocurrency enthusiasts
I would agree with kingpin.

You don't have to advise OP how to start a business. They are offering courses on it so they probably know how to do these things.
They are taking advantage of the power of advertising. Starting a thread here is a form of advertising their business.

The courses are a good idea but it depends on the advice you're able to give and the price.

In most cases, business plans must be local. You don't do business the same way in America or Europe. I've asked for help about a business plan a few times, and I don't think I would have done it over the Internet. I want to have someone in front of me.
Couldn't agree more. Food brands learned hard way often. In one country people didnt like their product because too much sugar, in other they didnt like it because too low sugar. Its one example but its on all businesses actually. You need to make success company in one country then think about expanding. Best course of action.

if the mentors have been doing it for years, then they already know the prices they should charge. all you then gotta do is use an exchange rate to know how much in btc.

a good business plan mentoring service know and help with
costs/margins/profit calculation.
going into detail about employment of staff
differences between a MSB and a merchant (exchange vs shop in regards to tax)
tax advice/suggestions
getting the business proposer to do consumer research (doing trial tests/reviews/opinion polls with prospective customers)
advertising/promotions (not just saying 'do facebook ads' but actually support the wording/design to maximise offering HONESTLY)
and ofcourse all the different acronyms (smart, tosa, idea, 4p, 3x, fbr, kiss) and many more

if this idea just turns out to be one of the 'how to write an ICO whitepaper' things. then you might aswell just do what other do and offer a crappy template service full of scammy words

You have a good plan indeed and I must commend that . But there are somethings you need to do like making a comprehensive SWOT analysis of the business you want to do , try to do more of advertising and publicity , make a great business plan , start and start from your locality or region. This is going to help you a lot.

I think your initiative is good, the fact that you accept Bitcoin as payment, I think it is something that encourages some people who operate in the market.

In the description of Mentors, you should always place a copy of your certificates, there are many people who take into account those details.

In the same way, a lot of success in your project!

So basically your idea is to make a private online-course for enterpreneurs, and you want to accept payment in Bitcoin? The price should depend on the length of the course, I guess. And even though you insist on talking to each student separately and consulting them about their own project - I don't know, it makes you an advisor, not an educator. I'd prefer something like a youtube channel that provides tips for doing business, preparing business plans etc. If there's demand, you can then launch Patreon and provide personal consultations to your contributors or make some other features not free. My point is that even though you have nice descriptions of who you are, your project would probably attract more people if they could first see what kind of advice you can give for free. Good luck anyway!

Crypto is King.

I would agree with kingpin. Crypto is a form of payment for your business. This can be integrated into any business with the proper plugins in the website. Have a good business plan and make sure you put down details! It seems like you are on the right track so far. Just remember to accept multiple cryptos as well as things like paypal. People will see nothing but non reverse payment options and be a bit scared to bite the bullet on the purchase.

In general, before starting a business, it is very important to work well on a business plan. I can advise you one rather useful service that can help you with this. The service is called ogscapital. Here is a link to their website https://www.ogscapital.com. Try to start from here. This is a good way to quickly write a reliable business plan.

Hey countryfree, thanks for the reply.

We know that the most optimal thing when helping someone write a business plan is to help them face to face, so we will be have one-on-one meetings through Skype, as well as give them as much personal feedback as we can. What has always worked for me, and I've seen work very well in the class room, is to have access to good and solid feedback on your work. Telling someone what they should do, giving them material to read and templates to use can speed things up, but the most valuable thing you can give someone is constant feedback while they are writing their business plan. So we are aiming on building this online course on one-to-one tutoring and personal feedback.

As to local business plans, if you are aiming at applying for local grants then familiarity with local law and grants is always a plus. But a solid business plan is always solid, be it for a grant or investors. We are located in Iceland yet we have created or helped startups that have attracted investors from the US, Europe and Asia, the backbone always being a solid business plan.

You say you've been looking for some help regarding a business plan, give me a PM man Smiley I'll give you some advice if you want (free of charge of course  Grin)

Hey everyone!

I am setting up a online mentoring website for entrepreneurs, offering a class in business plan creation in exchange for Bitcoin. I am in the process of validating this idea as well as trying to calculate a fair and decent price for the service. So any input from you guys would be extremely valuable.

The team consists of two teachers from the University of Iceland, both having years of experience in writing business plans and starting companies. As of now we both teach two entrepreneurial classes at the university.

Johann has a BS-degree in math and physics and a PhD in computer science. He' worked at IBM, Apple Computers and Software AG to name a few companies, but for the last two decades he's been a professor at the University of Iceland. His latest startup to sell its products on international markets is the Tunerific guitar-tuner for smartphones. The Tunerific guitar-tuner and chord book have been downloaded by more than a million people in over 250 countries around the world.

Gudlaugur has a BS-degree in economics and MS-degree in computer science from the University of Iceland. He has worked as an economist and a software developer as well as creating two startup companies, one of which is a Bitcoin/Game currency exchange.

The course will be divided into 6-10 segments and in the end the entrepreneur will have written a  (hopefully) solid business plan.
  • The mentoring itself is always one-on-one, so the entrepreneur himself can go through the course at his or hers own pace.
  • Before each segment there would be a one-on-one meeting through Skype with either Johann or Gudlaugur. The entrepreneur then starts tackling the objectives for that segment.
  • After the segment ends the entrepreneur hands in his writings and gets personal feedback from us in return.
  • Before each segment starts we would also give the student valuable reading material (which is optional to read) as well as all templates and material needed to finish the current segment.
  • We would also upload once or twice a week a micro-lecture, either from ourselves or other entrepreneurs/CEO's that we personally know. These lectures would cover topics relevant to the course.

So do you guys think this is a viable idea? What in your mind would, on average, an entrepreneur  wanting mentoring such as this be willing to pay for this service?

Also, if anyone here is interested in taking the class feel free to contact me and the first few will get a reasonable discount.
