I can't get it... there are 1.673.526 Bran New users what makes over 72% of every users? Who create such accounts and why??? - for what???
I would understand if someone creates an account and writes at least 1 single post. I would understand if there would be more than 1.000.000 newbies - ok farms of boots... but those....

Many (or most) of those probably didn't want to pay the Evil IP fee.

Otherwords 1.500.000 accounts was created just to remain death souls forever...

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. MTwain
<…>
I’ve taken a look at those 4K Hero Members on the Merit Dashboard , to see where they are now on the Ranking-up pipeline. The data is as follows:
Code:
segment                                                     segment_activity    segment_merit       nUsers
0. Being considered for Legendary                           [>100%]             [>100%]             79
1. Could have ranked up to Legendary, lacking Merit         [>100%]             [40%..60%)          489
1. Could have ranked up to Legendary, lacking Merit         [>100%]             [60%..80%)          26
1. Could have ranked up to Legendary, lacking Merit         [>100%]             [80%..100%)         5
3. Soon may rank up to Legendary                            [80%..100%)         [80%..100%)         2
4. Not enough activity nor Merit to rank up to Legendary    [60%..80%)          [40%..60%)          167
4. Not enough activity nor Merit to rank up to Legendary    [60%..80%)          [60%..80%)          2
4. Not enough activity nor Merit to rank up to Legendary    [60%..80%)          [80%..100%)         2
4. Not enough activity nor Merit to rank up to Legendary    [80%..100%)         [40%..60%)          349
4. Not enough activity nor Merit to rank up to Legendary    [80%..100%)         [60%..80%)          8

That is to say:

- Out of the 4k Heroes, 1.129 have earned at least 1 sMerit (which leaves nearly ¾ out of the picture for now – mind you, as seen on The real activity of bitcointalk.org + full stats, out of the 4K Heroes, only 2.581 had posted this year (as of beginning of October 2018), so roughly, out of those that do post, around 44% have received at least 1 sMerit.

-    79 Have the minimum activity and merit threshold, and require the algorithm to kick-in. 78 of them has de 1K merit airdropped, and only @TMan started at 500 merits and has since gained 669 additional ones.

-   520 meet the minimum activity threshold, but not the merit one. Infact, only 5 out of those 520 Heroes are near the merit requirement (@Bill Gator, @BTCforJoe,@Hhampuz, @LeGaulois and @marlboroza).

-   2 more are nearly there, but lack a bit of activity and merit: @HCP and @romanornr.

-   528 meet neither the activity minimum not the merit threshold, most of them being very far off on the merit count.

Can you also analyze in which sections all the users post mostly? Newbies roam in altcoin deep subfolders etc..

I can not do that. i dont have access to such vast database.

I have to admit I'm surprised with a fairly small number of Legendary members and their activity

I did look at the user activity using other criteria - when one has made their last post and I found out that in period of last three months 1410  Legendaries have made their last post but last seen in the same time period was 1674 Lgendaries.
More on activity:

If we consider that for most Hero members 500 merits is almost impossible task, and fact that some Legendary accounts will be banned in future, this means that number of Legendary accounts will only go down.

This thread indicates that Legendaries are not being banned easily : https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.47044821
But I would agree that number of active Legendaries are getting lower since they are getting Neg.trust.

I have to admit I'm surprised with a fairly small number of Legendary members and their activity, but it seems that merit system is stop many of almost 4000+ Hero members to become Legendary. You could just add the new stats to the old thread...would be better imo.
I have considered it but if you read the post carefully , you will notice that i use different approaches and the information is different not just more data thus i think this more appropriate.

a)The data is considerably newer as I mentioned at the start of thepost
b) Last time I used last month and this year. This time I went with 3 months and this year.
c) Added lower ranks to activity graphs.

P.s. After I estabilsh the best statistic base and represantation I will eventaully change te manner for example to thread  -Statistics of forum and update it periodically or to outside page.

The total number of users who have had "last activity" within last 3 months is 425584. If we exclude Brand New's and Newbie's the number drops significantly and the number then is 82056.
~

So basically we had a +25% of new users on a Bitcoin low price, mumble mumble... I guess 90% of those are bots/alts Grin

Hello!
In my last post I looked at first 2 million users and their rank distribution and at user activity. This time I will show more complete distribution of user rank ad their activity in this forum. I have scraped users with their ID's up to 2312500. The complete distribution is shown below. I did not not just scrape IDs above 2 million and merge them with old data, I have completely re-scraped all the IDs for more accurate representation of situation.

I have not shown deleted skipped users in this distribution. The amount of deleted/skipped id's is 19113. Skipped ID amount depends on the errors while scraping data and in addition there is some amount deleted users, which is estimated to be around 16'000 users .

To compare 2 million users IDs to 2'312'500 ID's there is little surprise that the biggest addition to statistics are to Brand New users (230k) , Newbies (66k) and Jr (12k) .

In my last post there was a lot of discussion about the activity and how to define it. One of the best ways to define it would be by using time of the last post of any given users but this is technically challenging since it requires scraping users last post, this option right now is not supported by current scraper version. While I or anyone else haven't yet made these modifications to scraper in order to achieve this, we will have to get by with "last activity" data which is scraped from users profile. This time i decided to show also the activity of lower rank user activity. It seems to me that it is a good practice to define the activity as "last activity" in last 3 months in addition i thought it would be interesting to see activity within this year.

The total number of users who have had "last activity" within last 3 months is 425584. If we exclude Brand New's and Newbie's the number drops significantly and the number then is 82056.

Further lets look at the activity charts regarding this year.

The total number of users who have had "last activity" within this year is 985811.  This year represents approximately first 7 months of this year. If we exclude Brand New's and Newbie's the number then is 102186.

Since I just showed activity in 2 different timelines, I think most of us would like to see comparison also:
