If the sender address is showing 0 Balance and no history on a blockexplorer like blockchain.info, then there is nothing to recover. The coins that the transaction was attempting to spend don't exist. I would guess (assuming it is actually a BTC wallet) that the transaction was either spending from an unconfirmed transaction that was then rendered invalid by a double spend, or the block that the inputs were in got orphaned or something along those lines.

Also, another possibility is that your old wallet.dat is actually an altcoin wallet... so it is possible that your TXID is actually from a completely different blockchain (like LTC or DOGE etc).

I have this transaction from a few years ago that is not in memory pool.
I tried to zapwallettxes and full rescan, but I did not receive my bitcoins back. I have tried abandoning the transaction but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Is there any way I can get this transaction amount back into my wallet? If so, what are the steps I must take.

Thank you very much

I have the same exact issue - I will reward whoever helps us out  Undecided

I abandoned the transaction but I'm still showing 0 balance.

I have the same problem.
Status: 0/unconfirmed, not in memory pool, abandoned

but my txid does not show on the block explorer - how can i get my balance back? I tried -zapwallet -rescan and etc...  but nothing yet. It's stuck there in a limbo

Are you guys using Bitcoin Core to the latest version and are you guys sure you still control the private keys of these addresses? because after -zapwallettxs they should show up if they are really unconfirmed.

A more extreme measure would be to delete all the folders (be sure to backup wallet.dat) and re-scan the entire thing, but still, it's pretty weird. You guys need to post your txid on a blockchain page if you want more detailed help.

So guys, is there any way I can abandon the transaction and get the bitcoins back into my wallet?

Would be helpful if you provided the transaction id.
for what? Its not found in any website..

Since you broadcasted the transaction years ago, and have tried abandon transaction and zapwallettxes.
I just assumed that maybe at least 1 node picked it up and it somehow got stucked in their mempool for years. Grin

Well anyway, tried this? https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/guide-delete-your-0unconfirmed-transactions-in-30-seconds-35214
No I haven't, but I don't see how it could be different from --zapwallettxes =1

It is basically the same as -zapwallettxes on core/qt, but since yours didn't work. Worth a try.
What about the TX id? want to share?

Have you checked the address(es) to ensure that the coins are still there?

And while doing anything, make sure you have a few backups of the wallet.dat.

No, that's apparently a Bitcoin address - it does exist on blockchain.info.

Of course. But the transaction referred to does not exist on the blockchain. So the question is what happened with the inputs that were part of that pseudo transaction.
It could be just some wallet quirk and the coins might as well still be "there".

Technically, if I am not mistaken, you're still in possession of the coins since the transaction where those are supposed to be spend are not confirmed and most likely never will be without manual intervention.

However without more info everything is just guessing. I can help you trying to create the double spend transaction and try to "recover" those coins if you can prove your case.

It's probably an altcoin wallet.
These transactions are listed, but don't exist on the Bitcoin chain because the wallet is for a different cryptocurrency.

Have you ever had Litecoin, Dogecoin, DASH, etc?

yes I have, but there are probably a 100 bitcoin transactions in this wallet, I know its bitcoin for a fact. I dont think its from another coin.

3 years old uncofirmed tx!!!!!!
is this possible
I didn't think it was possible either, and I was so surprised to see a question mark beside a transaction from that long ago, and having the ability to abandon the transaction to this day...

Would you mind sharing the TX?
To my understanding it should be possible to "double spend" this transaction (back to your own wallet) with a sufficiently high fee so it gets confirmed.

I'm trying something similar with a stuck transaction of mine, the only problem seems to be it is still on the mempool.

Your's should be the ideal candidate to verify this approach.  Grin

Alternatively you can simply try to broadcast the transaction again. However if it has a low fee it is unlikely to be confirmed anytime soon at the current situation (200k+ unconfirmed TX in the mempool).
Thanks for your reply,
I would love to test out this double spend method, but I do not have sufficient bitcoins to resend this transaction.
It's a fairly high amount.
I am not home currently so I will get the TX to you later tonight
