what wallet do the Developers use?
It varies.

They have to use a CORE WALLET to do updates.
They didn't, wallet is only a small part of the ecosystem.

Also, I like the Core wallets, because you can limit DUST ATTACKS through COIN CONTROL.
Stellar didn't use the UTXO transaction model but an account-based approach, just like ETH. So there is no such thing as coin control.

It looks like Solar Wallet might be the best choice.

For stellar wallet right now I just use with Lobster only and not really safety fund exactly with newbie if use lobster wallet, many time have dusting attack token received and if can't careful have chance losing money on lobster wallet. Not really active on stellar platform but if you hold with Stellar or xrp coin better save and hold on exchange market only like Binance or Kucoin. Not really popular with stellar because I don't really see with stellar coin network and use exchange right now when saving or trade xlm coin.

I understand, people choose convenience over security.

I heard about hardware wallets. What happens if a malicious entity creates a software that makes it impossible to access the hardware wallet?
You need to use hardware wallets with a computer
Yep if you use hardware wallet, you're simply trusting the entity since they're who created the wallet, that's why you shouldn't use unknown or new hardware wallet. The most reputable and popular hardware wallet I know are ledger and trezor. To prevent from malicious attack, you should buy the wallet from official stores. Relying on third party/reseller is really risky.

Hi All,

What is the MOST SECURE Desktop Wallet for Stellar Lumens?

I am OLD SCHOOL - I only have experience with CORE DESKTOP WALLETS, like Bitcoin Core, Litecoin Core etc. These are the only type of wallets that I trust, because they are the first crypto QT-wallets to be created and they have stood the test of time.
I have used Lobstr wallet for sometime and find it most unsecured wllaet ever. I have not stored key anywhere and nor connected wallet with any third party service but my wallet hacked three times and fund was stolen. Same type of problem happen with some other friend and they lost their fund.
You can use Solar wallet and hope it will be secured and stay away from Lobstr wallet.

Hello mate, I believe there are plenty of good and secure Stellar wallets for desktop users in the market, I can recommend Exodus wallet or Atomic wallet so far its good, and no reported untoward incidents since the time they were introduced, and currently Im using it, Atomic Wallet to be exact, but if you can afford you better buy a hardware wallet like Trezor, Ledger, Keepkey, Sugi, etc. because it was offered the best security compared to any wallet in existence.

I saw this recently, directly on the Stellar website, but I still just want to get more "public opinion" on these wallets. I prefer the OLD STYLE Desktop wallets that have GITHUB Releases.
I don't think you will get a good answer from those wallets, since it looks like most people don't use this wallets (including myself).
Keybase and Sollar wallet, claiming to be have good encryption and security, open source code.
Lobstr, looks like a low secured web wallet since they have an internal exchange.

Most people here using multi coin web wallet for altcoins, some people even using an exchanges. Honestly hardware wallet have a high security and you don't need to worry for long term holding.

The wallet is also open-sourced, you can see it on https://github.com/satoshipay/solar.

I personally never use a desktop wallet for Stellar, but I do use Albedo, and it's so far so good. I don't see any critical vulnerability when I use that web wallet.

If you really want to be extremely careful and secure, choosing a hardware wallet is a surely convenient option.

I'm not saying it secure since desktop wallets are mostly depend on how you practise good security within how you use your own device. But you can try to use Solar Wallet, it listed on the Stellar website, https://stellar.org/lumens/wallets.

That wallet link is: https://solarwallet.io/
Thanks for the reply.

Because I am "Old School", I DO NOT trust all these flashy modern Apps that can easily install on a mobile device and use a QR-code. My "GUT FEELING" tells me that some of these modern mobile wallets have security issues in their design.

I prefer the OLD STYLE Desktop wallets that have GITHUB Releases.
