Don't trust. Verify.

Just as people erroneously trust search engines to lead them to the right place, a stickied link to electrum.org still depends on trust - trust the forum admins haven't stickied a phishing link, trust the forum hasn't been hacked and the link changed, trust that electrum.org hasn't been hacked and fake software uploaded, etc. We shouldn't be stickying links because it again leads to a false sense of security. I would however agree with stickying a guide on how to verify that the Electrum version you have downloaded is genuine, for those who do not know how to do it, such as the one linked to from the electrum site itself: https://bitzuma.com/posts/how-to-verify-an-electrum-download-on-windows/. This is a better option all round.

The sort of people who fall for phishing scams or fake electrum ads on search engine results pages don't know about this forum and never visit it.

Wait that's not entirely correct. They look up this forum after they get robbed Cheesy

I agree with your idea, sticky thread with all useful informations would certainly prevent constant questions from being posted. However a big question is how much it will help those users who are not reading, or have very poor understanding of the English language. What might make a difference is that such thread is translated and posted to all local boards.

We can not prevent users to use search engines, but they should know that adblock is necessary, at least it will block some pay ads showing on top of search results. But how to protect all those who get fake wallets / phisihing links in their e-mails, telegram, discord and all other social media?

The only correct way is to download wallet from official site, and after that to verify signature of files. The risk thus decreases to the smallest extent possible, even though it still exists if users do not know how to keep seed safe, or if they device become infected by malware.

Would this be more helpful and secure than simply having
Yeah. It will be useful, there are a lot of guides[1] in this section but sticky or creating an integrated topic will be much better.
Most newbies are ignorant of how this forum works so it will not be a fundamental change.

people using search engines and getting re-directed to the wrong software?
Report persistent scam wallets so that they do not appear as the first result of a Google search.

There are so many Electrum phishing sites out there at the moment, so I think someone must post a "How to" guide in this section with the

information on how to get to the latest wallet executable and also the Github repository. Then the mods must sticky the thread and give people

a tutorial on how to validate the signed signature to check if it is the original software. Would this be more helpful and secure than simply having

people using search engines and getting re-directed to the wrong software?

Please let's discuss the pro's and con's of doing it in this way.  Huh
