Some people think that this is caused by a trade war with China, but obviously this is not the case. Now is the cyclical adjustment of the economy. The dollar has begun to be blocked in the world. People are reluctant to serve the dollar, and the monopoly of crude oil is once again Breaking, the dollar will depreciate sharply in the next five years, and the US stock market is now entering a bear market, which may last for ten years.

The revolution will be monetized!
Man the NYSE is a bloodbath right now. I am losing almost everywhere. Even my A-list stocks like Amazon, and Alphabet(google) are hurting. I'm resorting to the bond market for any profits. I think we are about to see a collapse in stocks.

Get your buys ready!

I mean i know the economy is down, but this is ridiculous. I just hooe we recover fron this.

A small correction was bound to come. The dollar has suddenly started being stronger so foreign investors are cashing on that instead of the stock's value which in return draws capital out of investments. It'll be up again, the overall market sentiment is still positive.
if indeed the signal is already visible, of course there will be a correction first and after that price will rise according to trend that occurred. at this time dollar is still strong, and many are hostile to it, so the power will emerge to suppress it
Looks like we are even beginning to see a rebound for now, following the drop in prices, with the market closing in the green from 1st November and that looks like some pretty good rebound to me and somehow sounds like the weak ones were just basically just shaken out to sell pretty fast.

Let's see how this will turn out if it would be a real rebound, or just a quick bull trap, and then we see the continuation of the downtrend, I guess time will tell but with the way things are, there has been a consistent increase for a very long time now.

If you are considering this down price as green light, then I must suspend your observation toward this matter. Brother, we must wait for it until it hits more than 7000 or above.

the crypt slowly and surely went beyond the framework of the darknet, got into freelancing, appeared on Avito, began to be used for mutual settlements between friends, acquaintances, even single shops and cafes work with it. Further more. Slowly and surely it will fit into all areas through the adoption of ordinary people. Without any regulators, reliable depositories 🤣 and corporate platforms.

It was a negative phenomenon - massive scam ICOs spoiled the reputation very much ... but it will take time and it will be forgotten and people will begin to perceive the crypt as a means of payment, and not something that you can quickly earn more bucks on the difference in rates.
Stocks Just Suffered Their WorsStocks falling has never been a big trouble in the stock market. They just start rebuilding from scratch and than have another 5 year bull run with prices increasing first towards the initial price and than surpass that into something bigger.

It is quite like bitcoin I am afraid, you get to 1400 dollar price in bitcoin than 300 dollars than 3 thousand from there and back to 900 dollars and than 20 thousand and keeps on happening forever. Stock markets needs to get low a bit and create a fear amongst investors so that in the end whoever ends up investing early will make the most money whereas some people will leave and come back only after the price already started to go up decently.

Same with bitcoin, we are here invested in crypto like crazy and if the price goes up back to 20 thousand levels we will have our amazing profits, and there will be people who buy bitcoin at twenty thousand dollars who hope it will go forty instead.t Loss in Months

I think stocks can crash a lot more though, especially in the technology sector.  A lot of these tech companies are extremely overpriced considering they turn little to no profit.

They very well could crash more, but the point is that their valuations aren't necessarily the most important aspect to focus on with how these stocks draw speculative interest more than any other sector. The thing is that we don't know whether this is the best opportunity to short or to long, and that alone is reason enough to not mess with US stocks at all.

Chinese stocks on the other hand look like a sweet deal with how some of them corrected over 50% this year alone. There may be some more downward potential, but that's simply a matter of averaging the market down. It is that all my time and money goes towards Bitcoin, but I would definitely long some stocks over there if that wasn't the case.

I agree, Chinese stocks have corrected fairly well, the US stocks have only went up & up for so long now that I think a really big correction should naturally happen soon.

Falling stocks in the stock market can have positive consequences for the cryptocurrency market when the money of disappointed investors is transferred here.
Well, it is normal for a lot of people to want to attach stock and cryptocurrency behavior in a way, but so far, we can basically see that stock market is trying to make a huge come back.

Not sure what would have fueled the drastic drop in price at first, but like some assumed, pretty much the institutions have just decided to ride on the regular and retail investors, thinking the stock market is due for a huge correction. I guess we just have to wait and see how the whole thing will pan out, and then we will see what will be happening next. The crypto market however is still trying to find its bearing.

This is in preparation of the predicted global financial melt down that is to come next year; I see it has a good time for cryptocurrencies as many investors will be looking into Bitcoin to hedge their funds.
Preparation of which meltdown? Probably you have not known how much overbought stock has been and the fact that there has always been an expected correction for a while now. However, call it whatever you want to call it actually, or possibly just relate it to some meltdown, but at the end, it is all about the perception of each and every individual.

However, looking at the fact that most investors will be looking for an oversold market to invest in right now, i would say the likes of gold and cryptocurrency may actually end up having a feel of it positively, as time goes on.

I hope that cryptocurrency can take the benefits from the drops of the stocks and I think the benefits are cryptocurrency can increase and can get trust from the people so they can start to know cryptocurrency and use it. It's politics, and it's happening in everywhere. Many people blame other people without searching for their own mistake, and it's easy to judge people in bad situations. I guess that in 2019, we will see some surprise from the economic news and I hope that cryptocurrency can rise again Grin

Everyone are searching for someone to blame, when stock markets collapse. Donald Trump is not the one to be blamed, the people who are to be blamed are the ones who constantly pumps money into overvalued stocks.

Everyone knew the stock markets are overvalued and that a correction would be necessary to right this wrong, but they hoped that they will not be the casualties when this happens.   Roll Eyes

A decline in Crypto currency investment is also natural, when people are looking for ways to hedge their losses on Stock markets.  Angry
Isn't that was has been in vogue for years now. There will always be someone to usually push the blame on and we even see it a lot in this space as well anyway. Grin One thing a lot of people do not usually understand is that there is a phase for every market and in this case, the stock market had its own share of the ups and practically we saw the rate at which it moved up which to some point showed glaringly that this is already an overbought market across every time frame, with possible correction in place, so for Trump or whoever trying to push the blame is absurd.

Actually that is true. Crypto currency may surfered a drop this year but if you step back 5 years, you'll see that we are actually doing great. I guess it is just perspective. Now with the stock market, i think it is more like political moves learders makes and the people actually suffer from it. When will these big headed people learn to just be humble and think of their people not their pride.
Right from the onset and not just five years, this market has been doing very great, except that some people do not get to put their focus on the long term and all they care about is just the short term. The market has been in an uptrend long term and it is still in an uptrend, it is only left for us as individuals to realize that the only way to be able to stay invested in this space for the long term and reap the long term benefits is just by being patient.

Stock is presently suffering its worst moment as well since the market hit some level of huge buying and all I see now is institutions and retail traders cashing out which always lead to a correction. People should get used to that and know that this is something that can always happen to every market.

The trade war between China and the United States has a great impact on the economies of the two countries!
The new economic order will surely be gradually implemented in a sizzle through a game process.

Loss and pain is just temporary as they may suffer its worst today but someday it will be get back to normal although it might be get affected to us for a day to day basis if we look it closely all the time. That's a normal cycle of a stock market but if something goes wrong for a short period of time we always asking who are the responsible of that fault. Let's be optimistic for a wider point of view and one day this suffering will come to an end.

There are strong prediction that USA will enter recession in  max 24 months
By my opinion it will continuation of famous debt crisis  from 2008
All that hossa on markets was caused by flood of debt money dollar and euro
Nothing real has been done to heal that previous debt crisis
Watch Nasdaq 7000 is very strong support level if will be breakdown than we will see avalanche

I have seen people for years predict a crisis worse than what we went through almost a decade ago, and it still has to come. Speculation about the US dollar to collapse dates back even further, and it still has to come. If people keep guessing long enough they'll be right eventually, but that's because everything has a limit to it and not because anyone knows more than we do.

In every market profits have to be secured at some point, and eventually it will happen with stocks as well, but it might not result in a deep correction as most people think. The market can just as easily go up like 50%, down 20%, up 10% and so forth. The volumes around the local short term bottoms are pretty significant, which usually is quite a positive sign and indicative of demand.

By the time we do actually end up going down badly, we'll see all the "experts" pop up telling you; I TOLD YOU SO!  Cheesy

It's hilarious that a 10 percent crash is considered a nightmare in the stock market, it's just another day in cryptoland.  I've watched some of my coins lose over 80 percent of their value but I'm holding strong because I know how much they will rise in the future.  Stocks still look very overpriced and they will most likely crash much more.  The next crash will be a lot worse than the one in 2008.

That is really a bad thing. I hate to witness the downs of stock or cryptocurrency. Because I'm an investor in these two areas. But I think the turbulence will soon be over and the technology companies will once again go up fast as the way it goes down. Hope Trump will have reasonable strategies so that the surrounding market is not affected too much.

It is clear that the global market movement is so big that the crypto one is ridiculous.
However, even if the bitcoin has been dragged down, it may be that this shock is positive and leads investors to head for the crypto. Let's see.

I think that some of them will move to crypto. They can be moving as we speak because Bitcoin is no longer falling down and we are in a bear market. We should be going down but there's no volatility so somebody has to be buying the coins that miners are selling. I think that Wall Street is preparing for ETFs and Bakkt and slowly buying coins. There will be big volatility when market finally wakes up.

The stock market crash has raised concerns about the financial crisis.
The downturn in the stock market may lead investors to invest in cryptocurrencies! This may be the chance for the cryptocurrency to get rid of the bear market!
Stock market and financial crisis. Oh please! This is a market and every market is bound to always get to a point that it will crack or hold as the case may be. The stock market has been moving up for a very long time now and pretty much over bought, and in such cases it is a normal thing to see the market retrace as investors tend to start cashing out in most cases when there is no more room to really go up and demand starts getting low.

It is just a norm for every market, which was one of the reasons it gets on my nerves when I see people saying rubbish about the crypto space because of a correction like it is not a normal thing for every single market. I guess so many people just have a lot to understand about a market and the fact that everything still balls down to demand and supply, which solves the puzzle to you and I.

This is a very good news. I think that the US stock market may continue to decline in the future, which is very beneficial to the development of cryptocurrency.

Probably it is a good jews for bitcoin. But as of today, when we see it happens, it does not suit the current national situation. But then lets just be futuristic enough and see that in the future it does not matter anymore and cryptocurrency is the new market people are up to.
Exactly, people are investing here in the crypto coins especially in the Bitcoin for they want to make some extra money or to bring the saved money in use. If investment takes place here in the Bitcoin then it is a profitable investment besides we have other sources as well.

If it is stock market investment then it will also generate profit but it is true that sometimes value of different products get low or high and we should act accordingly if we are looking for profit.

Stocks are usually not green things all the time but only great on some couple days with some horrible days. It is said that if you were not invested in just 20 highest earning days of the stock market and invested in all other days for the past 10 years (afterwards of the stock market crash) than you would have made almost no profit at all, those 20 highest earning days are the ones that make the market what it is today.

Hence, if you are heavily invested in stocks you should always know to stuck with your papers until the market corrects itself. Yes it fell incredibly but it is not like bitcoin where it stays there for a while and swings side to side constantly, it is a steady investment where you do not get out and if you need more cash for your investment than you find one that pays dividends for your investment to it.

The bearish market is blowing all over the trading assets and from this news cryptocurrencies market is not the only one sufa this bearish market.  Stocks,  oil and commodities market are all down.  Are we heading towards another global financial crisis since we have not even recovered from the last one?  That is why I think cryptocurrencies might be another alternative to the formal system we have.
there are countries that have switched to crypto currencies, Venezuela for example. the government dares to take risks with their fiat currency falling. of course if the crypto market recovers, economy in country will recover as well

U.S. stocks plunged to their worst loss in eight months on Wednesday as technology companies continued to drop.

U.S. stocks dropped sharply on Wednesday as a massive selloff in the biggest tech stocks has driven markets this year.

The Dow plunged 831 points, losing 3.15 percent of its value. It was the second-biggest drop of the year for the Dow, which on Feb. 5 lost over 1,100 points in a single trading session.

A particularly sharp decline was observed in the high-tech sector:

Amazon’s paper fell by 6.2%
Apple — by 4.63%
Netflix — by 8.4%
Facebook — by 4.1%
Alphabet — by 4.6%
Microsoft-by 5.4%.

Brad McMillan, chief investment officer at Commonwealth Financial Network, characterized the market’s decline as “normal volatility” and said stocks were “past due for a pullback.”

What caused the fall?

Nervousness had been building for days on Wall Street and here are some facts which caused the panic:

----US markets have a trade war edge over China, which is compounded by Hacked Supermicro Hardware Scandal — A major U.S. telecommunications company discovered manipulated hardware from Super Micro Computer Inc. in its network and removed it in August, fresh evidence of tampering in China of critical technology components bound for the U.S., according to a security expert working for the telecom company.

----The Impact of a FED Interest Rate Hike — The Fed has raised interest rates three times this year and is largely expected to hike once more before year-end.

----China holds $1.17 trillion of U.S. government debt- As the United States and China inch closer to a full-fledged trade war, economists and investors worry about worst-case scenarios that could impact the global economy — and America.

“We don’t know who is to blame here; it’s a little like trying to find what or who is responsible for the dangerous hurricane in Florida today,” says Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at MUFG, Tokyo-based global bank with offices in New York. “But make no mistake about it, the stock market decline, triggered perhaps by rising bond yields, is just as dangerous.”

1. A sea of red washed over not only Wall Street but Cryptocurrency market

No news.. no FUD... but the entire market just literally goes down 5–15% for what seems no reason.. why does this happen? — many people around the internet keep asking this interesting question.

Bitcoin, Ethereum and other major cryptocurrencies have experienced a sudden drop in price, knocking billions of dollars off their value in the space of just a few minutes.

Hyperquant experts think that the US stock market and Crypto market are correlated.

Interest for cryptocurrencies is decreasing. Just look google trends. Lots of good news and stuff that should’ve pumped interest for cryptos in the last 6 months, yet it didn’t move it a bit. Right now there are no much crypto-trends and ideas that many people believe in. The market is open to entirely new ideas and all blockchain enthusiasts are waiting for a innovative growth boom, said Pavel Pavchenko, CEO of HyperQuant project.
We need to be realistic and be aware that most of the money in crypto is people’s “play money” and they will need it back if we get another recession/depression, that caused major recent crypto decline.

2. Trump calls stock sell-off ‘a correction… maybe he is right.

In order to make a rational decision, we have to look at the behavior of the stock market today during first buys. If the market face buys backs there is a chance that we will avoid further decline. If not, we may expect the long-term fall.

“Actually, it’s a correction that we’ve been waiting for a long time” Trump told reporters before a political rally in Pennsylvania.

3. Fed has gone crazy

Stock market sell-off won’t stop the Fed from hiking rates. Many people say that Fed purposely increased the rates in order to affect the market situation, but in reality, when the Fed raises interest rates, it is trying to increase borrowing costs for businesses and consumers to help keep the economy from overheating.

After some time, Fed will evaluate how their decisions have affected the market and the economy in general.

What is going on with the stock market at the moment was just something expected anyway as it has become a market that was already bound for correction and I would not want to make that somehow connected to the drop that happened to cryptocurrency which we all know we have still been in a triangle and the market is trying to pick a direction.

Fed has really gone crazy indeed like Trump said, but the thing here is that there may be external factors apparently affecting the drop in the price of stock, but all I just see is investors seeing an overbought market and cashing out, knowing there is a possible correction in place.

Does it have any link with crypto? My guess is they are all preparing for the rally of crypto that is why stocks drops like that because people are ready to transfer.

It is clear that the global market movement is so big that the crypto one is ridiculous.
However, even if the bitcoin has been dragged down, it may be that this shock is positive and leads investors to head for the crypto. Let's see.
That is actually what I would even like to think at this point in time.

Looking at the fact that the stock market was still moving up hugely when crypto was going down, we could have just assumed that money from crypto was just moved into the stock market and then the market got overbought, and now what we are seeing is a correction.

Was it as a result of trade war in China, or the issue with the FED ? All I just see here is speculations and then at the end, it is just a matter of smart moneys trying to get out from a market that is due for correction anyway.

This is a very good news. I think that the US stock market may continue to decline in the future, which is very beneficial to the development of cryptocurrency.

Probably it is a good jews for bitcoin. But as of today, when we see it happens, it does not suit the current national situation. But then lets just be futuristic enough and see that in the future it does not matter anymore and cryptocurrency is the new market people are up to.
it could be good news if there is much fund moved from stocks market to cryptocurrency market.it will create new demand from that funds.and finally make all crypto price rise.

This kind of decline may happen sometime in the stock market. If it keeps declining may be it will be a good news for cryptocurrencies.
Somehow we saw their correlation but still I won't fully rely that they do really have its connection.
As investors of stock markets are in crash, they would look for some better place to put their money where there can be no manipulation and the closest one would be crypto's.

Yeah but cryptocurrencies were very quick to recover from those losses, I mean it just took a day or two, to reach previous levels.
I do agree that there was a correlation between the sudden drop in the stock market, but we certainly didn't see such a quick recovery as we did with Bitcoin for example.

I definitely agree that we shouldn't automatically think that there's actual causation.

It seems that the stocks havent bounced back yet.
2 possible outcomes, this was /is a slight correction or it is a begining of crash.

I know that there are a lot of crypto enthusiasts out there who are waiting for stocks to crash, thinking that some capital will go in crypto as result.
I personally think that stocks are heavily overbought , especially tech stocks and they will crash , lets see when it wil happen.

Those companies are large enough and they may have been in this industry for a long time. Yet, they are still considering the all time high this year as their basis of the stock value.

That war between china and US is a healthy thing so other exchanges can perform than most of the exchanges made from both of this countries. So what if the fall will continue?  Smaller bitcoin price is much better cause the 24hr all time high and low can be more stable.

“Actually, it’s a correction that we’ve been waiting for a long time” Trump told reporters before a political rally in Pennsylvania.
I agree with Trump here.  The stock market has been booming since 2009 or so when the big crash happened in response to the banking/mortage industry crisis, and one thing you learn when you're a stock market enthusiast like myself is that the laws of gravity apply as much to the market as they do to all the planets in existence--in other words, what goes up must come down eventually.

I don't follow the major indexes as much as I do the stocks I own, but it doesn't look like the Dow, S&P, and NASDAQ are doing badly at all.  Hell, the NASDAQ is currently at 7500 and I'm old enough to remember April 2000 when it crashed from the 5000 range.  And the Dow being above 25,000 doesn't exactly make me lose faith in stocks.  In addition, my portfolio hasn't lost much at all--but I don't invest in tech or social media stocks, and I think those are the ones that have taken the worst hit.

OP, if I may make a suggestion:  those pictures you posted are huge and unnecessary.  It's kind of forum etiquette not to post pics that add nothing substantial to a thread.  We have folks here who tend to quote the entire OP when making a reply and if they do that in a thread like this, it's extremely annoying.

If I change it to "from 5%"  will it make you happy?  Wink

It's not about making me happy, it's about telling the truth.
Saying that only 5 guys died in the ww2 or that Karpeless's decisions affected only 10 customers and the amount involved was only worth 10 BTC won't make anybody happy.

You're simply exaggerating facts, and I'm curious why?
We're six days after the whole "cataclysm", did something radical change? Guess not, just another storm in a teacup!

I'm not yet convinced although I saw it a couple of times even with local stocks, crypto goes down as well. I would say that its a close domino effect, if let's say there's connection I'd stick to crypto's. Recovery and growth in crypto is faster than stocks.

It is true, but it is interesting that - while the cryptocurrencies have collapsed with the stock exchange - then they recovered much faster.
It seems like an encouraging sign to me, so ... we keep optimism!

Perhaps it means that it was just a panic sell. But when everything settles down and understand what's the real reason for the market to suddenly dip then investors starter to flock again.

Although stock market is still in dip I don't think investors should panic again. As others have said stocks has been overbought for the last couple of years so its just about time to make some market correction similar to what we have witnessing to crypto market as well. Its just a cycle and its imminent.

If we all agree that it was 5% what is there to talk about? A 5% drop in stocks isn't something to dwell upon and it's not a huge loss or a crash. It's a correction!
Bitcoin lost 5% a few days ago and nothing is happening. Last month we lost twice that.

I agree with those of you who are saying that stocks are overvalued. It's correct, but so are most cryptocurrencies. Most of them aren't and will never be used in real situations. Their value comes from the sentiment of investors who hope that other investors will see even more value and buy it from them.

A trade war of any magnitude between USA-China will just simply shatter any market and leave a lot of people with nothing. Thus the investment will hit rock bottom, and although I think a trade war directly doen't influence the crypto market, it will affect this way.

Not just U.S. stocks either, there have been crashes internationally across the board with pretty much every global share index having falls in one way or another.

I was actually quite intrigued at the fact that bitcoin also fell because I always thought that bitcoin would be relatively unaffected or even be inversely affected by a stock market crash like this. Perhaps it was emotions playing with traders who both owned bitcoin and stocks, leading to them panic dumping. Who knows. It wasn't that big of a dump anyhow.

Anyways, we'll see whether this turns into real bear market within stocks, or was just a short term correction. But these tech stocks from what I've heard are overbought as hell.

I see that the fall of BTC was irrational and most likely was caused by manipulation and possibly was something like " longs squeeze" .
In my personal opinion , stocks are very very overbought, I mean 1 trillion company- Amazon, this is just pure bubble and will burst some time.

Also Trump has power , he can temporarily calm down stock markets with his speeches.

This was a terrible blow to many stock holders yesterday and this ripple effect also came into the crypto markets as well as we saw Bitcoin and Eth prices plunge again, taking away all the Bullish sentiment we had been building up over the last few weeks. I think we are moving into a very dangerous economical situation and also the prolonged bear run in crypto has also had its effect on many of us. Many people this year in stocks and crypto have lost a lot of money, while others have become rich from shorting everything.

Some say it was like domino effect, but i am sure it is correlated.

There was no 20% drop, it went down in MC terms (which are a bit useless) from 216 billions to 197 which is nowhere near 20%.
Besides, the most important thing, as you can see from the picture you posted, bitcoin only dropped 5-6% unlike the rest of the shitcoins.

U.S. stocks plunged to their worst loss in eight months on Wednesday as technology companies continued to drop.

U.S. stocks dropped sharply on Wednesday as a massive selloff in the biggest tech stocks has driven markets this year.
