Of course just focusing on chasing and searching for a 'next' Bitcoin is not logical. Bitcoin has a very long past and it broke many records. People trust in Bitcoin more than the altcoins.

Then if that there is a coin that can surpass bitcoin that coins must have better concepts or technology
Stated that bitcoin gains its value as oldest and most trusted chain its hard for other coins to beat that, It hasnt have to be the tech or concepts but could also be a trust swing.

it's going to take a while but I think another coin will eventually surpass bitcoin.

Then if that there is a coin that can surpass bitcoin, that coins must have better concepts or technology than bitcoin and that coin can cover what bitcoin cannot do. Maybe it's not happening in a short time but who knows, it will happen in the future because the new technology will always come out. There still a mystery for us and there is too many predictions about that because we heard from social media that one coin could lift so high than bitcoin.

People who stopped chasing the next bitcoin missed out on altcoins that did over 100x return.  This will happen again and some of these new projects will wildly out perform bitcoin.  It is much easier to pump a low cap coin than it is to pump bitcoin.

There is never going to be a next bitcoin, at least not in that order of magnitude. There have been some profitable altcoins, but nothing will ever come close to what bitcoin, its simply the benefit of the first.

Actually bitcoin itself should be slowing down as time passes. Yes price should go up, but as time passes price increase is to slow down. This is a so called logarithmic curve:

That's how i see bitcoin price behaving long term.

Altcoins on the other hand show a different kind of curve, more like a pulse graph, which each pulse (pump) getting weaker and weaker. Only a few recover resembling a miniature version of what bitcoin did later, but for the vast majority of altcoins, its a race to the bottom.

There are simply way too many altcoins. No matter what technical merits they have, people are not going to trust yet another newcomer right away. They have to be extraordinary even to not succumb with the rest, let alone get close to Bitcoin. You could say there is an inertia, that Bitcoin is a gigantic flywheel that has been receiving power for 10 years, while the others are yet to start spinning, or are simply too small to matter.

You could even argue its unfair for some projects, but that's how it is.

most of them aren't really at fault. they are just poor newcomers who entered a big market and were suddenly bombarded by a huge wave of advertisement which were promising them riches beyond their wildest dreams so they ended up buying a ton of useless tokens which have been continuously losing value
I Don't really agree with the "Most" part. Although I believe there are "Some/Few" people who got into the sinking ship, most of the people just thought it would be beneficial to invest in the shitload of tokens.
All those shitcoins in Yobit which get pumped daily shows us that there are huge number of people who still take part in the pump and dump and eventually lose their coins.
It's just the greed that drives them to their catastrophic fate. This is the sole reason why bitcoin should be the major part of your investments. I would consider investing 70% of my investment into bitcoin while the rest 30%  into top major altcoins.

For me, bitcoin still worth to invest although the value already consider as high.
And for alternative option, you can try to invest on top 5 on coincapmarket.

But again, this is cryptocurrency and anything can happen so make sure that you've prepare the worst , first !

if you stop chasing the next big thing in crypto, you will really miss them too just like how they missed ETH. come to think of it if you have hundred thousands of ETH now when you have bought eth while the price is less than a dollar.
I wonder if you would say the same thing in the near future when you start feeling what having "unlimited supply" really means and whether you still wish to bag hold your "hundreds of thousands of ETH" when it is worth $1 again.

right now you need at least $5800 to buy 1 BTC, can you afford it? if not then just go to the cheaper coins which likely going to also make you richer later.
nobody is forcing you to buy 1 whole bitcoin Wink

sometimes there are people who don't ever want to learn from other people's mistakes unless they experience things for themselves. it is like wanting to touch something hot and be burnt on your own before you realize that hot things burn although everyone else is telling you so.
in this case I say let them lose money to a bunch of these ICO scams and all the other types of altcoin pump and dumps then they will learn it the hard way themselves and come back.

The thing is, people saw how many Bitcoin millionaires were created from early investors that invested small amounts and became millionaires in the end. They want to try to re-create the same scenario by investing early in "unknown" Alt coins, in the hope that they might invest in a Alt coin that would achieve the same level of success as Bitcoin in the future.  Roll Eyes

We have been in the Alt coin scene for many years and the only millionaires that were created, was "Pump n dump" coins that was created for that specific purpose.  Roll Eyes

I agree, those pumpers, or the people behind the group usually is the only guy that can be millionaire. Although there are a lot of coins. that when xxxx% in 2017 as compare to bitcoin, it didn't reached the amount of gains that bitcoin maximalist got when they invested early and their portfolio is only bitcoins.

We are not talking about coin that will surpass bitcoin in price, but advising investors not to put all they money in bitcoin because we are always warn not to put all our money in any business let always invest what we can lose that is the message since bitcoin is a highly volatile investment.
It's a good suggestion maybe, but when I was invested my money in cryoptocurrency since 2015 ago I just believe bitcoin will not give you a regreted feel when the price high and you bought it at the lower price. I don't believe altcoin maybe, because there are many manipulation or pump and dump that can be happen anytime. Moreover, with altcoin that still have a lower price you just need 1% to get profit that you wanted.

This is the problem for most newcomers here in crypto world. They are just easy to hypnotize by these stupid advertisements telling that if you invest in here, you will get a huge amount of money in a month or the like.

In my portfolio, around 60-70% of my total holdings is Bitcoin. I bought some coins that I know will bloom in the long run but that is a small percentage only compare to Bitcoin. Its ok to buy altcoin but do some in deep research to prevent being scammed.

Still, no doubt and we trust bitcoin.
That is definitely proven, people are looking for a cryptocurrency that has the potential to become the next bitcoin is because they want their money to be multiplied as bitcoin's stuff.

Bitcoin was just a half pizza with = thousands of bitcoin and they believe that another coin would also become the same as the bitcoin.  That is the moment where they are very greedy to invest their finance in different altcoins. The reason why alt coins called altcoins is because Bitcoin will always be the primary coin in the crypto space.

Lol, this is so true. I urge everyone to really put the majority of your investments on bitcoin to avoid getting REKT in the future. Well, you can still invest on some altcoin but at least the your portfolio should be like more than half on bitcoin, just saying.

nah, put it in land you actually own something then that you can call your own.
Why would I use msdos or windows 95 when I can use windows 10.

What you've stated is kind of opposite. However, it is probable that bitcoin will really get you rekt because as our technology upgrades, the possibility of the application of bitcoin will increase. To that end, if I were to diversify my portfolio, I will put 80 percent of my investments to bitcoin.
