I also want to let you know that... It can be difficult to continue engaging with people or groups who have caused us harm or discomfort in the past. Sometimes, it can be best to move on and focus on other things, rather than continuing to engage with people who may not have our best interests at heart. Being that you are a competitor and this is a free market I understand that you are well within your rights to flame, troll, and spread FUD. But I do not appreciate these actions you are taking as it is very hostile and we have been threatened before and you are scaring me a bit as you have since taken action on our team members off of the site. Braiins OS+ has not a single whitelabel. Yet vnish has many names. We don't add fees, partners get a cut from the dev fee itself. You should learn from that instead of summing fees on top of fees... And more importantly, Braiins wrote bosminer from scratch and actually works to support the hardware directly, unlike you who leech on the work of others. For me it is the same. I use the miner as a lottery miner during the heating season, since I have to use the energy anyways to heat the house. Can you explain your feature more and tell me if it is possible to have the fans not ramp up to 100% even if the power was cut before?

You realize your your autotune is based off our presets logic right we invented the feature you guys brag about the most and also implement worse than even MSK LMFAO. Don't even get me started with you use every exploit we created for the antminers but I mean we don't blame you because it's the easiest ones we use on the public. Their is a reason behind the presets but you haven't yet figured it out granted it's a small advantage but we rather keep that internal. Also no it does not have better efficiency that using two s9's powered by 1 psu and 1 control board and 2 fans. This has been proven years ago. Explain how using more fans and powering a full control board for 3 boards vs 6 makes it use less power

What memory leak caused by ourselves? I mentioned their is a memory leak in the most recent version. We don't need to stop cgminer or reboot it? I think your talking about your firmware I was told it reboots dozens of times of day. Actually hold up I got a photo of it from one of your old customers for the s19 who switched off because it damaged one of their miners and he sent me a photo of what it was doing for the past 2 weeks. I was shook when I saw that.

Like i said, its nonsense. Apparently you can just warn reboot the control board but you can never do it from cold as power reaches the fan before the fw has a chance to do anything. We never copied anything from you because everything you tried sucked (and involved modding cgminer anyway), yeah in 2019 all you did and see was thrown away since bosminer was developed and cgminer removed completely.

Of course because you can't do things efficiently, you want people to do the useless mod. Braiins OS+ has much better efficiency using two S9s with no modding. Because you take shortcuts with "profiles" you will never reach peak efficiency for the specific miner. Besides you are messing with software that is not yours and unexpected things do occur like when you were blaming Kano for memleaks caused by yourselves. Which is why you need to restart cgminer or even reboot before everything freezes, and hence that silly "idea" of dropping fan speed when doing that...

I have told vnish and i tell it to you in case your are not the same person: Get to work and stop the FUD campaign. Until you replace cgminer you are pirating software, this is a true fact and you can say nothing against it, that is what you are selling.

Yes our fan quiet at startup works quiet well. It was a feature I requested to be made for a friend of mine in Siberia who was using his miners to heat his house (very common as the power is almost free out there) and didn't want the fans to ramp up too quickly. So we start the fans at a low speed and increment in small steps until temp is within desired range. So don't say it is impossible or an urban myth it's been a feature since March 14th 2019 for the Asic.to or Vnish firmware version 3.9 for the S9. I am honestly surprised braiins didn't copy this feature from us like most of the other features 

So an alternative is to just uninstall and try ours. But I would recommend if you have 2x S9's to do our Dual mod where you run 2x s9 off 1 control board 1 psu and only 2 fans to get 72w/t or lower if you are lucky! (It's a great quiet space heater)

But to be honest set our core temp to 90c on an s9 and it will be very quiet and fans won't ramp to fast anyways.

ps. Use quiet fan mode at your own risk as temps can spike too quickly and fans will ramp up very slow so don't use it for a large overclock.

It is totally possible that there is no "test", since the miner needs a few second to boot up and in this period of time it can obviously not control the fan speed. Anyway the result is the same and will make the fans run at 100%. If you log into the dashboard when the miner boots up you will even see that it shows fan speed of 100% for a few seconds even if I set constant speed of 1%, thats why to me it seemed like the miner controlled it.

I won't pretend to know anything about how those fans work, but I am sure the quiet fan start-up works on Vnish, I can't recall the exact % the fan spins at when the miner starts, but it's too quiet, probably something between 10-20% because it was a lot quieter with that option enabled, of course, I don't know how they manage to do it (just in case anyone asks me).

However, the theory of fans running full blast as soon as they get power is true and I can confirm that. It has been a while since I mined at home so I don't use the function anymore, but IIRC, the fan would spin at full speed for a very very short period of time, and then quickly drops, so my guess is the fans start at 100% as soon as they get power, and then immediately after the firmware boots and starts controlling the control board it will command the fans to spin at low speed, but generally, the whole process does sound really quiet since with the stock firmware the fans continue to spin at full speed for a very long time (until the miner starts hashing).

You people seem to be misled about something, this is sounding like an urban myth...

There is no "test". The fans do that themselves, apply power and they go to 100% before the firmware is even loaded to tell them to slow down (You can remove the fourth blue wire, and see for yourselves, its their default behavior).

Yeah a hw solution (external power) would work since, it can immediately force them to whatever speed. Other people just replace the fans with either low rpm phanteks/noctua 140mm with adapters or a large duct inline large fan (external cooling).

It is powered by a 6 Pin PCI-Power plug that can be connected with a simple splitter from the existing ones. Another great benefit is that it is possible to use an 120mm fan that you want since the miner is not responsible anymore for the fans.

In the miner the setting was changed to immersion mode, which doesn’t require fans at all. It will simply shut of the miner at a specific temperature (I set 85 Celsius), that temperature will not be reached since my fans are going at a fixed speed that keeps the miner at around 60-70 Celsius.

Also I asked in the official Brains OS support thread, if there is a software solution to stop the „fan test“ at the beginning but apparently there is none. So for 11 USD I think it is a quiete good and simple solution.

What OS do you currently using? Is it still Braiins or stock firmware?

Because if you revert to stock firmware without bypassing the fan check you will always get some error and the miner will not work properly. If Braiins then it still has an error fan so you still need to bypass or disable the fan check.

Would be great if you could post more details and/or pictures showing how you did that, I am also curious if you did ask BO+ support for help, that firmware seems to be full of features, I wouldn't be surprised if they had that already built-in and just needs some sort of activation via CLI since there is nothing in GUI for that feature.

I actually solved this issue with an external 12v fan controller. As soon as the PSU gets power the fans will spin at my chosen rate. If the miner gets to the „hot“ temperature set by me it will simply turn of instantly.

The risk comes when the room temperature or air circulation changes for whatever reason and the miner gets to the point where it needs the fans to be spin at say 5krpm but then the "untested" fans can't perform which will cause the miner to overheat.

If you control all those variables and you are pretty sure the miner won't need high fan RPM then that is a different story and the risk does not apply much.

Thanks for the Tip! What do you meant, that the move is risky? My S9 is configured that it can run at 1% fan speed at all time, so there should not be an issue?

I think you missed the keyword here which is "startup",  the fans will spin at 100% when the miner boots/startup, the firmware does that to check if the fans meet the required RPMs or not, it's standard on all firmware version both stock and custom, Vnish has an option called "Quiet fan mode at startup" which would bypass the full fan spin and starts at the required or specified static speed, I don't think Braiins has that (I don't remember seeing it at least on the GUI) but maybe they have some command for that, keep in mind that move is a bit risky and I would advise against it.

If the units doesn't have abnormal temp rise the fan shouldn't  run at high speed unless if its set to auto with low target temp.
You can switch it from auto mode to manual mode if you want to run the fan at fixed speed.

Is there a way to stop the fans (Antminer S9) from going to 100% at startup. I use Braiins OS+ and have the noise level very low because I use only 600W. Since I need to restart the miner quite a few times depending on availability of power, this would be very helpful.
