Come on guys - merit discussions are so "last year", we moved on to the DTs, and that one is running to a close. We need a new topic for the summer. Smiley

For anyone who really wants to learn about merits, DTs and other forum stuff - RTFS ( Read The F---ing Stickies ).

Those first merits should be a motivation to you to write more quality posts and help out different forum members... You will be surprised that i no time you will have collected over 10 merits but remember this, If you make a post you feel is very good and it never gets any merit, just don't give up or feel bad. Just keep posting important and relevant comments. People will merit you.

Also, to avoid disappointment/feeling bad for being ignored, every time you make a post or reply, just don't expect any merit for it. Merited post should just come as a surprise to you  Grin
this way you avoid depression when you don't get any merit from a post.

The part from the quote that I underlined is what I consider the best advice when it comes to anything related to merit. Best way is to not hunt merit at all, my approach to this forum is to be myself and that is it.If I help someone, someone thinks I'm fun or funny, whatever the reason might be it is not up to me, but up to fellow members of the forum and their perception and merit does come or it doesn't, but this way I'm always just being myself.

That is the meaning of hard work by giving something that is beneficial to others. Then you will be given a sign of appreciation. Now you have a value that shows your quality. Continue to be creative by posting the best in this forum. Hopefully that value will build more trust in you.

Hopefully the next post will get more, so it can improve rankings. Because I see your activities and posts enough to increase rankings.

Reading the replies and OP again just made me realize OP message kind of sounded like my previous topic titled Re: Stop searching for merits and you will received them.- see Smerit as liabilities the message here is you shouldn't make post because you want merits you'll just end up writing rubbish adding useless colors to you post just because you want to impress some users. Your intentions should be to add value to the forum by being helpful either by answer questions from other users or providing solutions to their problem. You can also contribute by participating in useful discussion.

Chasing after merit is not against the rule or is it a bad thing to do
Paying too much attention on merits will force the quality of posts down dramatically.
Whenever you pay attention on merits, your flows of ideas will be broken, that in turn will reduce post-quality definitely.
Just concentrating on your ideas, then try your best to express ideas to real posts, it's all you need to do.

If your posts are good, constructive (high quality in other word), merits will naturally come later.

And, remember that merits or bitcoin is not your main purpose to join the forum, or should not be the main purpose.

Chasing after merit is not against the rule or is it a bad thing to do is just the way in which is carried out can either be positive(earn you the merit)  or negative(get you in the league of spammers, copy and pasted)
Like the OP has suggested find what you are good in.
The forum has several section and you can get attention from all this section just find your you ecological niche and survive

OP is actually correct and one cannot earn merits through shitposts, you will have to put in enough effort into posts you make on the forum, and definitely you must earn one or two merits.
You've got 2 merit now,and it isn't such a bad thing giving out advice to others, but put more effort and strive for more rank up

@CryptopreneurBrainboss, you are a talented and smart guy. But hey don't you think you should motivate him a little instead of saying that he get that merit out of luck.

I am also thinking the same, He was lucky there. OP still not get the intent of merit. Instead of contributing anything, OP is thinking of "speculating" without any research/facts.

If you are saying you only give merit because of this ^
Then it's not cool bro, it looks like you are only doing this things for your own recognition, but I know it's not becoz you're a good person.
It is just not a good mention hehe! peace Cheesy
I guess you did not comprehend it correctly.

Ow men, that's a rather harsh response from the guy who gave the first merit to you.
Well whatever, you are doing good just keep helping. But on the other hand he's right, remove the thing he quoted it doesn't look good xD

I have decided to help a newbie to get promoted in junior member if they think they have helped someone in some topic and explained the problem nicely then you can reply with your post link or can send me a pm.

Iol, your very first merit and you're already planning a giveaway. I advice you delete this part of the post i quoted and leave the post as an advice to newbie to concentrate on the board they're good at could be mining, technical discussion etc. Your merit was a result of my hunt for newbie without merit, to rank them up that are trying their best with at least a decent post. I don't need a giveaway thread to do this.

This was the reason: [TOP-200] Members who support newbies - Thanks!

I have been very active in Beginners and help board trying to find newbie with quality post and post history but so far it has been discouraging. I'll start exploring new boards to find those newbie with quality or decent post.

As I already said over and over again, the easiest way to get merit is to read more than you write.

That seems to be hard for most people here, as they want to make lots of posts to get paid...

In my previous days of posting in bitcointalk I was waiting to get merited. So I did posts after post but after some time I realized that all the posts which I did were just shitposts. One of my post
   was this - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.49583116
This post made me very disappointed due to the comment from the senior members. Later that day I made up my mind that merits couldn't be achieved by me. So, I decided to help others by
replying on other's thread but surprisingly I got merited for helping others.

This was the time when I realized that I am best in speculation section and help people to solve their problems. So, try to post where you are best and also which could help people to get some information from it.
