I am looking at pools to join and when I got to ViaBTC I (or my virus protection) discovered that they were trying to push "Name: not-a-virus:HEUR:RiskTool.Script.BitMiner.gen" to my computer.

Dose anyone know what this is all about?

If you downloaded a bitcoin miner software from there, then the antivirus is basically correct: it's bitcoin miner. And it also tells it nicely: not a virus.
I think that such flagging comes from the days people tried to use others' computers to mine bitcoin, and it's the same code/signature inside, whether it's a legit miner or not.
So if you intentionally downloaded a miner, I believe that you are fine.

Are you using Kaspersky? I get a similar message for almost everything crypto-related, even when I try to post a stratum pool URL, however, I never got that with Viabtc, anyway, I personally don't take these warnings very seriously as long as I know I only deal with trusted websites, but to be safe I keep my finds off the PC I use for my mining operations.
