The sherry casks give off the darker color. Port casks make it even darker but I don't like whisk(e)y from port barrels myself.

Johnny Walker Black Label is a whisky with a light natural color, being blended from Caol Ila, Talisker and grain whisky.  The dark color comes from liberal quantities of E150a (caramel). Caramel dye looks quite different from the reddish brown tint of PX or Port casks or the yellow of the oak. So Black Label is a pretty good sample of a color a whisky should not have. Some very, very old whiskies have similar colors to Black Label, but they are exceptions - no bottler in their right mind would add E150 to a Brora 50yo.

Never judge a whisky by it's (lack of) color.

Correct the Whisk(e)y type is a giveaway for the trader type

so what that makes me if I mainly drink this one, a hodler?

PS nice stuff, I recommend getting a bottle asap if you like islay (and I wouldn't drink that last one if I were you Smiley ).

Ok the 1990 Lagavullin is 23 years old but the years don't count when bottled. It has been double matured so it is 16 years of age (correct me if i'm wrong).
This is a very good whisky that competes with more expensive whisky.

What kind of a trader:
This would make you a Hodler that has been in the game for a while and doesn't have much to lose.
You probably have "enough" bitcoins for hodling and use excesses to trade a little bit (fun money).
Since you do not have much to lose you do short term trading and try to be a "strong trader" which you are not quite at the moment.

Smiley

P.S. Lagavullin 16 year is nice but I've always wanted a distillers edition. Sherry cask whisky is nice Smiley

Correct that's 16 years old as well, the sherry casks add a little sweet smoothness to the excellent lagavullin taste. The color is darker too, not sure of naturally or caramel, but that bottle just looks sexy. You can get it at almost the same price as original 16yr, it is not an expensive whisky (sub-100).

Let's take that sixth whiskey *burp*

Everyone takes one too much, once in a while. Your selection of whisky depends on your choices and your character, however:

....snip...

Correct the Whisk(e)y type is a giveaway for the trader type

"HODlers"
Use a good basic single malt whisk(e)y >10years of age or a good Tennessee/bourbon whiskey since they have to consume quite a lot to keep them from the urge of selling.

You're not getting it. Hodlers never feel an urge of selling, so they don't need whisky at all to suppress it.

People must understand that hodling is not a strategy. It's a religion. Cheesy

ya.ya.yo!

Whiskey is in the definition of hodling (hence the misspelling of holding).

To HODL:

The act of holding on to a financial trade, often a "crypto-currency", while it plummets it value. Hodling a trade indicates that an unusually high amount of personal resolve is required from the trader, due to the possibility of massive financial losses. Such resolve may be found in the form of whiskey or other strong alcohols, hence the mis-spelling.

What is a "strong hand" and a "weak hand"?? Does this imply bitcoin is some kind of investment scheme? I thought it was a currency.

But I think you're right: Everybody that still uses US$ for value comparison didn't understand Bitcoin yet.

that would be the expression of the ultimate strong hand.

who cares about $, all the bitcoins belong to me  Cheesy

My boy! Who cares about $ if you have all the btc you need to soon retire. Fuck fiat Cheesy

On a serious note: one btc is enough to retire in the end.

I propose an alternative to the 'strong hands' narrative:

Remember who panics first panics best!

This has never been true in bitcoin to this point.

The panic sellers get left behind and hang around the board as bitter losers.

Based on your choice of Whisky I'd guess that one of those Bitcoin addresses with a 4-digit amount on it that have been left untouched since 2011 is yours Wink

I wish it was that many digits! Sad But I have I think couple of addresses untouched from '11. I also have some whisky, more of a collector item really, which was bottled the year I was born. Not Lagavulin, unfortunately they only started bottling later Smiley

Once a whisky is bottled it does not age. But great item non the less.

I have very weak hands, right around $5k-$10k and $50k-$200k+. I have others in my family who are just as weak, be careful of our bearishness, our opinions might represent the majority.

They don't drink, but I do when I reach my weak zones.

I might even hold some of my coins so I can be weak 30+ years from now.

"Strong hands"
They are either whales or people better off. The consume 18year or older whiskey. Whales take 30years or older ofcourse. They need the least whiskey since they don't care so quality must be high.

"Weak hands"
They put all of their money into bitcoin and have to drink the really cheap stuff. They have no money for glasses so drink from the bottle in high volume. They also cry-wank when pressing the sell button when selling at a loss.

*crap whiskey a friend got and refused to serve me. Also has a typo on the bottle (Flavour = English not American).

Even strong hands get weaker over time. Gravity.

I suppose your comment has merit. But I think that it isn't a completely proportional concept to price rising.

When the prices rebound and remain stable strong hands get stronger. As they can expect to know the price is going to rebound as it has so many times before. Hence the load the truck with more bitcoins even though the price has risen over 1000% in a year.

Right? I mean gravity is strong and all, but not compared to a motherfucking rocket ship.

You can invest and trade in currencypairs it's been done for many many years Smiley.
An investment scheme is usually a company that trades for you and tells you it will make a good profit and lose your money Cheesy

"Weak hands"
are people who feel compelled to sell when the market takes a small dip, they give into fear or they have invested with money they cannot afford to lose (also fear). They panic sell. (e.g. The market just went down $10 O-NO quickly sell before it goes down $20. If it does I can't afford to pay back the loan I took out for bitcoin)

"Strong hands"
are people who only sell at their targets. (e.g. I will sell at $2500 or if it goes below $200)

"HODlers"
are the ultimate strong hands and go for max profit or max pain. (e.g. I will sell at 100k or go down with bitcoin. Let's take that sixth whiskey *burp* while the market takes a $600 dive)
When we're evaluating forex market trends such as, say, EUR/USD, do we speak of "strong hands", "weak hands", and "hodlers"?

Of course. What did you think, that it was specific to bitcoin markets? It is not the same vocabulary but it is exactly the same.

What do you think etoro was made for? like all others brokers where you can trade microaccount with 200 leverage?

This. Also, I believe that hands are getting stronger at a faster pace than that of the inflow of new coins and new selling pressure on the market. The dive from 1200$ was a huge workout for many, a considerable number of shaky hands have probably matured and grown stronger/more confident by now.

Looks like China has wiped out the weak hands and the strong hands are responding by giving China FUD the finger.  Today has been a good day, I know the price dropped a tad but that's the key IMO.
