I do have some alts here - I created Talk Merit because I wanted to try to distance my main account from all the posting about merit, but that hasn't seemed to work. I was also interested to see how difficult it was for a new member to get to member ranking under the new system. I believe that Talk Merit was the fastest account to achieve this. Mainly because it managed to get 28 activity in about 15 days. I started JetAid to allow me to view boards and members that Jet Cash had on ignore. I was inspired by TMAN to start Flash Cunt, but I don't think that it really suits my character. Kuffy was a protective registration, and I'm not using it.

I might continue to use Talk Merit and JetAid to enable me to vary my signature, but I really want to be a bit more serious with Jet Cash. The revelations that are coming out of the woodwork surrounding Brexit are going to lead to some major shifts in world politics. It is also becoming apparent just how much control the morphed British Empire has over America, and hopefully Donald Trump will help the US to regain its independence. We really are living in exciting times, and it will be fascinating to watch the influence that Bitcoin and its siblings will have during the debt and toxic derivative meltdown. You guys are lucky to be here in Bitcoin Talk, as there are some clever and well informed members - hopefully we will be able to draw them into discussions in the future. I think we are going to need all the help we can get to take advantage of the massive shift in wealth ownership that is starting to appear.

When the merit system was first introduced, there were a lot of air dropped merits, and these were fairly easy to earn. I managed to gain a promotion from Hero to Legendary in that period, and I was also appointed a merit source. Merits continued to roll in, and I didn't take much notice until I realised that I was about 20 merits away from becoming a TEMP member ( Thousand Earned Merits Poster ). Suddenly earning merits became a challenge, but many people consider that Legendary sources have no need of merits. The merits seemed to be flowing like treacle. When I was a couple of points away, it took a bit of will power not to use one of my alts to top up, or to post a comment about the frustration, and this may have appeared to be begging for the few required. The other temptation was to flood the boards with posts in the hope that a couple of them would be merited.

So why have I started this thread? I want to show you guys that whatever level you are at at the moment, if you continue to make constructive posts, and to support the forum, the merits will arrive, and you will climb through the ranks. Don't be tempted to flood the boards with posts, as that will be counter productive, and don't give up. As you continue to read, post and discuss, your value to the forum will increase, and you will find that you start to make friends here.

Now to celebrate my new TEMP achievement I'm going on a merit awarding spree for a short while.

Hey it takes courage to admit this and I’m sure many will take inspiration from your journey, they key has always been constructive posts and I’m glad you have emphasised on that. I also believe that many people have the wrong notion that high ranking members are getting merits because of their ranks, it’s false they are getting merits for their posts not rank. I have to admit I doubted if you would have created a alt too lol, read it again and realised it was sarcasm.

I think this is more like an inspirational story and reality opening story of people who have higher ranks because a newbie will always think like this that legendary don't have to do any efforts because they have higher ranks. but obviously every person has its own duties here and tasks to accomplish. I think people with higher ranks should often come up with such topics like about their efforts and success stories so newbies and other people with lower rank can get to know your efforts and will seek guidance.

I don't think I was the first Hero to move to legendary. Some of the  Heroes received more than 500 in the air drop, I just got the basic 500. The real surprise for me was to be the first member in Foxpup's VOM award. I think that there were some more deserving members. It just goes to prove that fate doesn't always reward the good or the needy.

What I would really like to do now is to create more interest in global macro-economics, and the way that true decentralised crypto will help the preservation of wealth for populations, and the improvement of oppressed economies.

Congrats @Jet Cash!. In addition, if I recall correctly, you were the first Hero member to rank-up to Legendary member, needing 500 earned merits in the process. And part of that done on a busy noisy environment which is likely not that easy to concentrate in, amongst burgers and soft drinks.

I know that you are not too thrilled with images on the forum, but a visual summary seems suitable here, and seems aligned with the image worth more than 1K words saying:

Notes:
- Data as of last Friday morning (when you were 5 sMerits shy on 1K). The initial merit shows 502 merits and not 500, probably due to the two sMerits I sent you on the 15th, creating a temporary disadjustment between the merit file and the profile data I retrieved.
-Months are named according to my locale.
- Ranks as of now, not when the sMerits were awarded/received.

don't forget that we still have some mining studies to do Cheesy

I haven't forgotten. I need to get past my current problem with a drive shaft bearing, and then I can get the other bits that I'm going to need. In the meantime, I'll do a bit more research on the net.

Thanks for the encouraging words, although I've been more then a year around, I'm still stuck at 3. In all honestly I know what the biggest reason for that low amount is though, I mostly only do bounty work. Which doesn't result in much merit I found out  Cheesy anyways, trying to be supportive on the forum and post constructive posts. The depth of some of the conversations here can be overwhelming sometimes that it feels like you can't contribute to the conversation since I'm not that long in crypto yet.

I am fairly new to the Bitcointalk forum. Took me a few days to find, read and understand what a merit system is and how it works. I congratulate you on your achievement, as I understand what a difficult path it is even from a newbie perception.

It's a very complicated system. Feels almost like a second work you voluntary take to create interesting quality posts and simply by helping others. So you should feel king of the hill. You have every right to it  Smiley  Plus, for me, as a newbie, every TEMP and Legendary is an example to strike for.

Congratulations Jet Cash on your achievement. You can use another abbreviation like TEAM though which means Totally Expert Amassing Merit or same abbreviation but different meaning like To Earn Merit Professionally/Personally.

I just hope the new Rank will be released soon Smiley so we can now stop from judging those Legendaries that they don't even need a single Merit. But the fact that most of them are the major Merit receivers we really can't blame people from getting mad at them Tongue (They just thought that it is them who must have those Merits and not those Higher Ranking Members )

Anyways, a new achievement for you JC, and also don't forget that we still have some mining studies to do Cheesy

Once a level is reach we strive for the next.
The Hunger for success is still alive congratulations on you progress.
I use to doubt my abilities of gaining a single merit when I joined not until my vision changed and I drop my selfish attitude to consider the forum and work towards making it and not breaking it.
I am not a temp like you but I still derive a sense of accomplishment

Welcome to the self-made Legendary club!
For me it felt like it took forever to get the last few merit to complete the first thousand, now I'm closing in on "self-made Legendary x2".

Congrats! It's a small but growing club.

Congratulations on your achievement, you just joined LoyceV, DdmrDdmr and few other that have earned 1000+merits club. Lower rank users won't understand that the pressure it even much on higher rank users to earn merit because the higher your rank, the lesser your chances of getting merited unless you're lucky to get a fan based (make new friends) that rewarded you previously for your quality posting because most meriters are concentrating on lower rank users to rank them up.

From my merit stats on So.... on which board did you earn most of your Merit? you'll notice B&H is my strong hold for earning merits due to started thread but of recent I have slow down taking my mind off starting any thread on this board and contributing/help newbies when necessary. I'm trying to explore other means of using this forum I feel there's more to Bitcointalk than just commenting on threads.
