My understanding of the bitcoin core app is that I need to be running a full node which is not advisable on my macbook air.
It really doesn't matter which wallet you use when the transaction is already broadcasted.
My understanding of RBF is that it needed to be enabled from the wallet that I originally sent the transaction from (so too late for that I think).
Yes.
My understanding of accelerators is that they are hit and miss (and expensive with no guarantee).
The accelerators are mining pool so they will include it only when they mine a block.
This as I understood it, was a double transaction attempt. Now it keeps saying it's there one minute and not the next and keeps trying to push the transaction over and over. What's going on? Where are my beloved BTC? Please help shed light?
Since your original transaction had a really low fee, the transaction was not propagated well through the network. Its possible that Copay hasn't seen the transaction yet but the rest of the network has already and hence its hard for it to be relayed well over the network. What is the transaction ID of the transaction that you have used for sweeping.

If I don't mind waiting, will it eventually clear for sure?

Another bit of info as of recent.
I also have CoPay app installed since way back. I scanned the original private key (from original paper wallet) and CoPay said the funds were still there (contrary to what Blockchain says). I decided to try to sweep the wallet into my CoPay wallet (different key than first time using blockchain app). at a higher transaction fee. This as I understood it, was a double transaction attempt. Now it keeps saying it's there one minute and not the next and keeps trying to push the transaction over and over. What's going on? Where are my beloved BTC? Please help shed light?

Viabtc, com accelerator will never work if the fee is really low viabtc only accept minimum fee of 10k sat For transaction..
the only thing that i think could increase the speed of your transaction is to find some miners and asking to confirm your transaction or pay them for confirming our transaction..
There are some people are offering it but they are asking for high fee..

Try this i just found a free service to accelerate your transaction here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/freep-bitcoin-transaction-accelerator-for-unconfirmed-txs-2204426

On viabtc,
If you make a pool account the minimum fee gets removed.
The other minimum fee is 10sat/byte if I remember and I think they even accept that on their public one.

There's a free one for bitmain as well.

If you sent the transaction to an address that you own yourself, you could try CPFP, but it's a bit tricky to set up.

I mentioned I am using the Blockchain app for iPhone.
My understanding of the bitcoin core app is that I need to be running a full node which is not advisable on my macbook air.
My understanding of RBF is that it needed to be enabled from the wallet that I originally sent the transaction from (so too late for that I think).
My understanding of accelerators is that they are hit and miss (and expensive with no guarantee).

It's already been over 3 days stuck but I didn't realize I was re-broadcasting it every time I opened the wallet. I suppose now I can try waiting a number of days without opening any of my wallets, and checking the progress on the blockchain website only.

For the blockchain app, it doesn't matter how often you open it, as the transaction is broadcasted by the backend servers of blockchain.info anyway. Your iPhone is only a client to their webservice, which operates independently. You can open it, it's the same effect.

Yes RBF has to be supported and enabled. Don't know if blockchain has it enabled.

If my goal is to get it off the network ASAP, Is it better to stop broadcasting the transaction or keep it going?
If it's better to stop, how can I do that? Simply by not opening my wallet(s) to check every 5 mins??

What wallet do you use? If you use a wallet like Bitcoin Core, then it's best to use an option like -zapwallettxes that drops all pending transactions. Else, your transaction will get re-broadcasted as soon as you open your wallet again.

If you have a wallet that sends coins with RBF option, you could replace the tx by a new tx with higher fee.

Third option is to use a transaction accelerator.

I used blockchain mobile wallet and chose the fee they suggested.

Really, they suggested 4 sat/byte???

If you can wait that long. It'll probably confirm within 3-7 days. If it doesn't you should try making another payment from the same address with a higher fee.

You can use accelerators like: pool.viabtc.com/tools/txaccelerator to accelerate your transaction. Or search CPFP and RBF double spends and see if you would be able to do one of those.
Also, these don't need the same wallet to be used, they need the same private key to be signed - there's a difference.

Noob here. First post but I really need help so I'll save the formal intros till later.

I have a stuck transaction because of low fee. (sorry)
I have read on this subject for hours and it seems my best (and only) option is to wait for it to drop from the mem pool and hopefully return to the original wallet from which it came..
So my question(s) is...

If my goal is to get it off the network ASAP, Is it better to stop broadcasting the transaction or keep it going?
If it's better to stop, how can I do that? Simply by not opening my wallet(s) to check every 5 mins??

Thanks in advance. Obviously a huge cause of stress in my life ATM. I used blockchain mobile wallet and chose the fee they suggested.
