Someone can of course just take the full list provided by Casascius and add whatever satoshi they want. But in showing the coin's address so freely on the web one can expect the original bits to be compromise.

It's like holding a sign with your BTC address on ESPN live. Someone will be tempted to send a satoshi or two just to be funny.

Now to the more deeper issue. In the future, would a collector value a coin with the - original bits, original funded date which matches the stamped date, originally funded by Casascius himself, etc., - ORRRRR
would any of this even matter?

Only time will tell.....

Meanwhile I will try to keep my coin as original as possible  Grin

Some collectors believe the coin's collector value will drop when public address is exposed as anyone can alter
coin originality by adding a satoshi.

Yes, this is very true. It's annoying to have 1.0000000135 BTC in there. It takes away from the originality of the coin and thus, takes a bit off from the value, in my opinion.

Heh.

So, you're saying if I post the public addresses to my coins, people will send me free money?  Bonus!   I will create a list now.  Smiley

Yes, I understand privacy might be wanted.  In that case, a buyer could contact the seller directly as I have done in the past (more than once).

Check out the 1000 BTC gold coin

http://blockexplorer.com/address/1Au1PEH71fsKfhgHSGN77CmH9tVmURriAY"

"1000.2332"

If I had that coin the extra 0.2332 bits would be extremely annoying IMO.

Its more about privacy. He might want to sell the coin down the road, and for whatever reason may not want to coin to be associated withthe current seller, etc.

As for sending 1 satoshi, i dont think its a concern. If I wanted to, I could spend an evening and send 1 satoshi to every single Casascius coin ever made.

Any chance you could load some quality pics?

I was going to say that.

Wondering why the coin address is being hidden as well

Some buyers prefer hidden, adds monetary value and privacy.

Umm, giving up the address doesn't give up the seller.
I would PM the OP directly to remain anonymous as I have done many times in the past.  This way, you don't know who I am, ummm, well, except for this coin now.  Smiley

There would be more offers for this kind of 1ofakind when ltc becomes mainstream, or when its @$600.

Litecoin doesn't have to become mainstream for physical litecoins to gain value. Even if litecoin crashed and some other coin took its and bitcoin place, these casascius, lealana, and other coins would still be valuable collectors items. Its not the inherent value of litecoin, but the historical value.

This is garbage. Mocking my listing. That doesn't even look like a heart. Complete joke.
Yep, you have to use alot of imagination to imaginate a heart there.

Tts  bcos its partially covered.
You need to peel off the hologram to be totally mesmerised
Oh i had no way knowing that...it just didn't look like that.

I must applaud this marketing, well done.
While 5BTC or even 1BTC is quite high in this market, the coin is not garbage.
It is clear to me that the mark is original, since it is partly below the intact hologram.
There is a solid case for this coin to be worth much more then 'normal' market value; I recall an instance where a $20 dollar bill had a banana sticker stuck to it, with the ID number printed on top...it went for something like a quarter million dollars! This is a somewhat similar case; a clear anomaly that cannot be replicated.

My suggestion: don't accept a lowball offer, but wait a few years and you might get a good amount for it.

Reading this post gives me new insight, that this could really be the real deal, whats the chances
of the error lying exactly on the line(between hologram n metal)? And needs no proof if its legit or not.
So far only this coin.

That marketing was stolen from me. But that's OK, when it comes to marketing I'm a natural. I can spit headline after headline.  I learned from the best, Apple. Smiley

Out of curiosity, what's to stop someone else denying their coin? If this coin is worth 5BTC because it has a sent in it, why can't I just go and sent one of my own and then sell it as a super rare coin?
I'm not sure if you can call the dent a 'error'. It may have been caused accidentally or through handling. Just my thought. It just doesn't appear to have any error on its production apart from the usual.

Its  not easy getting hold of a coi  like this. I got a bunch but never inspected itt  , decided to have a look at
My coins after seeing someone selling heart shape here,
And whoala, found a gem in it Grin

I too have a rare item for sale.  Cool

5BTC seems awfully steep! Do you have anything to base that price ask off of?

5btc is a quote, based on a similiar sale recently in this forum. in addition litecoin is 2nd, in terms of popularity and market cap cryptos.
i would consider all offers though.
