I know this project keeps on pumping but I am adding another red flag here.

Today they tweeted from their official account that they were going to be listed on Coinbase (the biggest exchange in the US which only lists BTC, ETH, LTC and BCH).

https://twitter.com/jayden_crypto/status/991759742388256768

They then quickly claimed that their twitter account was hacked.  This was similar to claiming there was a CNN documentary about them then saying it was cancelled last minute.

The supposed developers of a secure, decentralized and censorship resistant internet cannot even keep manage to keep their twitter account secure?

That's really shady.  I would be very interested to see how much the founders dumped after this tweet.  I'm guessing they made a small fortune on this alleged "hacking" of their Twitter.

There is no way we won't be having things like this in the space, when a project collected million of USD without a single line of code, there are more projects like this in the space, substratum is just high profile example. It is not investors push this developers hard before giving them our fund

Interesting thanks for posting.  To clarify one point for those that don't live in the US - University of Phoenix is not a real college with admissions.  It's an online school that is available to everyone.

I feel sorry for you guys.

If you still want to invest in a project aiming for decentralized web, DYOR on SHIFT!

https://www.shiftnrg.org/

https://coinmarketcap.com/de/currencies/shift/

They don't really care about marketing but are focussing on the development. Team members of LISK are involved as well! To my mind, it's a secret gem and strong competitor.

It's really sad that this scam vaporware has paid for shilling in so many YouTube crypto channels and articles and is pumping.  Really a sad state of crypto.

Thanks for the detailed update i am invested in substratum and that CNN coverage was one of the catalyst i was counting on. Did not got the time to verify if it actually happened now confirmed so i will get out of this coin ASAP.
Even myself didnt expect for this thing but somehow if you do have the money you can able to manipulate or use anyone just to shill out your project.Ive seen those things above which do already signifies that this coin or project shouldnt really be trusted. Thanks for the shared up and these would really spread the awareness that this project should really be avoided if you dont like to lose up money.

After a 4 month delay, they release github code that can be compiled for a  vaporware software that allows you to do the following:

  • Allow you to set the DNS - that is all it does.
  • There is no Substratum network that that the "node" software connects to
  • It doesn't even act like a simple VPN, your IP is revealed publicly

They hyped up saying CNN was doing a documentary on them but then said it was cancelled because CNN is not covering cryptos anymore.  So it was supposed to be on Fox News.  Cancelled.  Then on Fox Business.  But it actually turns out to be a 30 second Paid infomercial for a vaporware product

This team is scamming you if you think its going to achieve one of the most ambitious goals in crypto of a decentralized internet with hosting of sites by allocating computing power and resources across nodes through a process of machine learning (their claim) when it took them months to deliver complete vaporware

They have no technical skills, no product and are using a shilling campaign, infomercials and paying John McAfee to promote vaporware:

Substratum CEO criminal past:

Substratum CEO is preoccupied with price and buy an sell walls instead of the product

Substratum CEO has no idea what open source is:

   https://imgur.com/a/PiQNo

  • CEO's is a University of Phoenix graduate who only seems to have a web development background
  • CEO's experience is working at OverridePro which has exactly 2 developers

Be careful of this project.  There are so many other shady things they have done.  Like they were out of the top 100 and dropping out of visibility and suddenly changed their supply on CMC and started pumping again with the fake CNN documentary news.
