well if you define success has having been pumped and also having been hosting hundreds of scams then you are correct ethereum is very successful in both of these things since there are hundreds of scam ICOs that have used this platform and were the only reason why it got pumped.
but when you define success as creating a decentralized and without bugs platform for smart contracts then you can see that ethereum is a big failure.

That is true, however, we should not cross-out that there are still some issues that has to be fixed in the ethereum platform. Sometimes it takes time for the platform to transfer funds, which is sometimes hassle for investors and ICOs.
Up until now, Ethereum is still be the chosen platform for another new altcoin including those scams coins. What i hope is that Ethereum will be come clean from any scam project and became the best altcoin ever.

Ethereum indeed is the 2nd highest in terms of marketcap so what are you trying to say? I think you are pointing out something that we all know like that is how ethereum works. Also, ICO means initian coin offering and it would vary on what blockchain network that coin would run but most of the coins/tokens that are conducting ICO's offers different type of currencies for investors ofc including ethereum.

ICO tsunami effect is not a thing. ICO's come and go, sh*tcoins stay and ethereum has nothing to deal with it and that won't affect it's price. ICO are far from ethereum because ethereum is used for ethereum network transactions, creating dApps, smart contracts, and fast payments with low fees wherein ICO's are Initial Coin Offering that is not yet running on the blockchain and is trying to gather funds to fulfill a certain project.

I am worried too. But we need a trust If we are an investor. ICO's is very risky. But there's a good ICO and not only to get more ethereum and rob. They have more than 100 ICO and we don't know what is legit or who is legit. So please observed before invest our ethereum.
The success of the ethereum from other altcoins is from their good services they offer to the people , and the people in return put their trust and support for this coin ethereum ,the ethereum offer programs that other coins do not have , the ethereum rise up to the top next to bitcoin in the world market of coin.
That's why I really like Ethereum more than Bitcoin. Because most of the ICO's are in the etheruem platform and some of them requires only ETH payment, price of Ether will rise up and it may take over bitcoin in the near future. We are lucky here in the Philippines because in coins.ph, you can easily buy etheruem in an instant and you can easily convert eth to fiat. Before, I really don't know how Eth works but after a long research, I've found out that Eth is a really really good coin, maybe better than bitcoin.
And with that occurrence/reality that has been spoken.. of course, Ethereum will be stronger in its popularity not far away with bitcoin. No matter what idea or news puffs out every coin is independtly saying that they are not dependent in bitcoin but the reality is whenever Bitcoin fluctuates almost all altcoins do the same thing and, watch, when btc price drops ethereum does also, so whatever happens we can say that ethereum is useful but In other words without satoshi nakamoto there is no vitalik buterin , to simplify ETH is just second to Bitcoin.

really, ethereum is one of the coins that will be a competitor for bitcoin. with its technology, can make other tokens using its smart contract. and it helps the development of ethereum coins. 
Of course Ethereum is a good coin but because most coins are owned by these ICOs after the hold their token-sales this could be a disadvantage to us as they have the control to decide on the price of eth, if the hodl price goes up and remains stable and if the dump prices go down hard but for a couple of years they have maintained some discipline of not dumping.

Ethereum dev know about this, so they trying to release Daico protocol as soon as they can. This protocol will keep ico more trust and prevent scam ico to happen. I think with this protocol, Ethereum network will be top coins again
