India  is quite big in regards to IT. And as I understand it, lot's of work is outsources to India. What about using bitcoins more, what about a bitcoin exchange there ?

What is the current status?

Working on it.

Ripple seems to allow INR - BTC/XRP.

It's in a closed beta for now, but this seems to be the best thing for an Indian exchange so far.

Quite a few will be announced in the 1st half of 2013.

I believe it is only a matter of time before an exchange is set up in India for Bitcoin trading.

I think there was one last year, as of now I see one exchange dealing with INR-BTC:

Haven't used them myself though.

Herodes,

I believe it is only a matter of time before an exchange is set up in India for Bitcoin trading.

Right now people like myself are providing/creating some liquidity for India by buying / selling to/from Indian bitcoiners, but out of necessity we have to charge a larger spread and also cover fees from WU / MoneyGram etc.

If there was an Indian exchange system then bitcoiners in India could trade directly. I do believe there is scope for a localbitcoins kind of service in India - I do see that the profile of Bitcoin has been rising steadily in the past 4/5 months (which is also the time of my personal involvement in Bitcoin).

India Bitcoin ke liye tayyaar hai. :-)

Hi Benson Samuel,

absolutely would love to do an article on this. The more exposure we give Bitcoin in India/UK and indeed the whole world the better.

I have PM'd you my contact email so we can discuss further.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards
Tenakha

Hi,

just wanted to advise - I have successfully traded with a gentleman based in India.
I bought BTC from him and was able to make payment to him via MoneyGram.
I sent pounds GBP - which were converted to INR. He was very easily able to receive the money in Dehli.
I bought the BTC at a discount and he kindly paid the transfer fee also - which was only 9.95 GBP.

I am very much looking forward to buying more BTC from Indian bitcoiners.

Thanks.
