Unfortunately it's not only influencers doing such kind of bad reporting. I would say that probably 50% of the online news in my country are being reported in similar fashion, very short and misleading headlines. In the online world it's all about catching the eye of the reader and generating clicks. Fact checking or providing serious news is not the main goal anymore. Generating more traffic usually means getting more revenue through ads. Same goes for the influencers, they are either paid by ads or by the company directly to promote the business. We should be verifying everything we read online before believing it.

Definitely way to promote their own universe! Today influencers and their fake stories; what to say about it. Crypto currency world is completely engulfed by media and social  media influencers these days. If anything that is searched most these days then its definitely the word "bitcoin". Now there comes the experts of hashtags and everything who will suggest to write up nice articles like this, mostly in negative famation so that peeps can easily get attracted to it. I mean most of the peeps always keep an eye on such news so that they can see if they are in good terms with crypto. Its sad, they use such stories to fill their pockets. Cant help it.

I was curious to know that Barclays had invested in Bitcoin! Did a simple search and found the accurate story. If your read the complete article you will know that this investment has nothing to do with Bitcoin.
I don't know what I'm suppose to make out of the link you just referred as, I'm unable to access the site without a registration & subscription fees and it feels awkward as, all I needed to do was verify the story and isn't sure if I should go with that nor of what relevance it would be to me afterwards. It would have been of advantage to have just quote the message and let users have a direct view in these terms.

Although, its not surprising how news are been made these days. I guess that makes the topic click bate enough for all crypto enthusiast or investors looking to invest but then, its never any less disappointing and you just can't help it. It's not much different amongst these so called social media iinfluencers.

This  is a common habit for most cryptocurrency influencers,  they make sure they spice up their stories very well so that it will bring a lot of viewers which will generate good amount of money for them, those who don't make more research about the information they get fall victim for such untrue stories.

Their are many cryptocurrency influencers on the social media and it seems they are competing between themselves, the only way cryptocurreny influencers think they can make it is to bring up stories with lies that are interesting to be more relevant and get subscribers.

I got this notification from a telegram channel which I follow. It is a telegram channel of a Youtube influencer who talks about cryptocurrency in his regional language. When I checked the notification from that channel it stated

I think it is pretty clear even from your quote above what they invested on, i guess you are the one reading and perceiving it wrongly, they already indicated investing on a btc trading platform and never said invested in bitcoin so i don't see the confusion here.

This is not new, much less an isolated case. This is rampant in Telegram, Youtube, etc. This is a thing not just among crypto influencers but also among so many cryptocurrency-focused news channels and online magazines. How many times have we been actually misled by news article writers and publications because of exaggerated, blown out of proportion, or even outright fake news on Bitcoin and crypto? Have many times have we read excerpts from popular personalities that are used out of context just so that they appear to be pro-Bitcoin or crypto supporters?

And you did the right thing. You got some news (info) and decided to look into it further to determine what's going on. I don't blame the influencers, they are misguided half brains that shoot lasers from their eyes, it's a vicious circle. How you approached it is the way any new adopter should, but they usually don't. And then we get hearsay half true info that completely muddies out the really important conversations.

Yeah, such influencers simply love clickbait titles and other cheap tricks to attract attention. They are not interested in the truth, they just want to make money out of everyone's ignorance, but anyone who read the full story can see right through the BS.

That is just sad. By using this tactic, they simply spread the false ideas and information that can lead people to make the wrong decisions. That is not only irresponsible, but it is downright harmful, especially for kids and others who might follow these actors.

Like we already know, what do they care? they don't care whether people lose money or not they just want to put out that title that will attract people to click and most people also don't care to read the proper story to get the info but just react to the Headline. Like you said it is sad but investors will have to learn to verify the information before investing or reacting to investment.

To be honest, it was about the crypto platform, right? Not directly to Bitcoin. So I don't completely understand why you are frustrated with it. To have your peace of mind, maybe, don't follow that TG channel anymore, and you wouldn't be pissed off with his hidden objective or something. I wouldn't want that to continue as well, that additional info that has nothing to do with anything.

I do hope everyone thinks like you. That you research before believing anything else. It's important to have facts instead of fake news in my country; that's the medium now, lol.

I hardly click through those links being shared on telegram channels. Instead, it's better to search directly from Google. Then check the news on top cryptocurrency blogs or sites. Clicking random links these days can be risky as Cuber attack is on the rise. Influencers are the easiest tool used by cyber criminals to lure in their victims. Stay careful

I am aware of the system of other media influencers getting paid when they spread news about the crypto market. It can be said that those who have experience in the news will always have censorship with the information they see, but on the contrary, this news directly affects the new entrants, making them mistaken because it is the information they see and the mistakes followed by mistakes that lead them to greater loss of personal finances. Indeed, warning newcomers is also slowly ineffective for me because of my suspicion to the contrary, and they think that the warning people are trying to hinder their chances. Indeed, for those who are stubborn, it is not necessary to explain to them to better understand. Let future mistakes teach them.

Yeah, a good headline always sell the story, most of these news outlets always does this, make the headlines so attractive and irresistible to ignore and when you are able to look more in-dept you will find the truth. Whether influencers or news outlets are all in for the money, so they will try as much as possible to create an attractive headlines and those who only base their judgement on headlines only will buy the lies. Despite knowing most crypto YouTube influencers are promoting most projects for the money only, many people still believe in them and base their crypto investment on them.

That's why I'm not into the cover page of the story anymore before reading the actual stories because titles are lies and most of the time clickbaits and misleading. But what can we do? this is how they do their work they've just put every lies they know to feed up the people unfortunately influencers are like them and though bitcoins have nothing to do with this kind of people, it affected its credibility due to the fact that others don't really know whos the person behind these lies regarding bitcoins and they also concluded that whatever things that involve bitcoins, it's the same as what the news is.

This has been happening for quite some time already.

Clickbaits, influencers spreading fake news, influencers spreading information just to advertise the projects they are holding etc. There are many Youtube channels are doing that and that is also why I'm not watching these stupid videos because they are just doing it for the sake of money and they don't care if something wrong happens. At the same time, I'm also not reading articles online especially from Cointelegraph.

If they are giving BS notification to their followers then you should stop following them because this won't be the last time you will be seeing a notification like this. I don't know if the current doing their research properly or they just make a different headlines so that it would look like clickbaity to their followers/viewers.

This is just pure BS imo if that's how they were going to tell to their viewers since it seems like they don't know what is real money and for entertainment content only. They should know the difference between that two.

The news somehow is out though. Cointelegraph also published about it https://cointelegraph.com/news/goldman-sachs-and-barclays-invest-in-uk-crypto-trading-platform-elwood

The telegram news seem confirm but its not bout but the crypto platform where they invest. They are investment companies, its only understandable they go with platforms like Elwood technologies.

Blame the telegram channel you're subscribe to not the news coz the news doesn't related to bitcoin investment as quoted.
That's the point, he is blaming the channel and not the news website. However, clickbait stuff do happen in news websites as well, some places are taking it a bit more seriously nowadays and taking it to a level where it's no longer clickbaity and write good articles, and places like the New York times or so have always been very good, those places have stuff written there like some super academic professor has been writing there for many years, because every journalist uses that type of language.

Still, most of the online world is still using it to get clicks, so even though the news itself is true this time around, the logic stands for general purposes.

You can't seriously tell me this is your first time?

I was on Twitter, Telegram, even Discord and Slack, then crypto came and ruined all of it around 2016 onwards.

I deleted all that crap, cause of all the spam. Yes I liked crypto but the spam and scams came to me everywhere, and Twitter I guess saw all my forum talk and internet searches and suggested me 99% shitcoin spam.

This was me without following shitcoin groups. Did you expect different things joining/following influencers?

Clickbait news articles exist since the early years of both the internet and mass media.
Fake news existed even before the internet and the mass media.
There's no reason to get angry at some clickbait fake news. You just have to do the research and try to find some reliable news sources.
Expecting Youtube/social media influencers to be honest and reliable is the same as expecting a hooker to love you forever, for who you are. Grin
Are you desperate to find bullish news about Bitcoin?Don't worry,OP.They will come after a few months.
I've never even heard anything about this Elwood Technolgies crypto trading platform. They probably aren't a significant player on the crypto market.

In a way it has something to do with Crypto currencies because Elwood Technologies is a cryptocurrency trading platform....  Wink So OP actually got angry for nothing.  Wink

Said it before, YouTube influencers are not real. They are just there to make money and nothing else guys. In fact its not worth it to follow such stuff on telegram as well because they could take you to the wrong direction as well. These days all the social platforms are just there to make money. Create some videos keep publishing them until they get shit loads of subscribers who believes in them and keep watching the video on daily basis. They show the advertisement, they get paid believers get screwed in wrong investments.

Its good you researched it before publishing. There are noobs who would just believe in such news and think there are opportunities if we go down to that road. This is just general news, but think about the influencers who would be spread rumours of shitcoin projects.

It's happening all the time and no one can totally avoid clicking such news. At some point everyone will fall for it. It only gets worse when you access some bitcoin content through smartphone and the google app starts tracking any bitcoin content online and notifying you all day long. This is the most annoying way to get notified about the worse clickbait crypto news disponible on the internet.

I think these kinds of news only lose for those claiming bitcoin is dead a new altcoin is going to take its place.

In my country this is something normal, for example the person will hear that in place Z something X happened and when it comes time for the news the person will see something else and then the person will understand that what they saw first was disinformation (fake news) as we have called these kinds of things. In the crypto market this has reached a scary level, it is the same as in my country, that's why I stopped reading news about cryptocurrencies a lot because they are news with rumors and few truths and this trend is not changing and I highly doubt it will change anytime soon

So it was a clickbait thing that you hate @OP, isn't it?  I think we should be used to this kind of trick.  It is widely used in the industry so getting one once in a while should not irritate you.  You can just put them on "ignore".

That is just sad. By using this tactic, they simply spread the false ideas and information that can lead people to make the wrong decisions. That is not only irresponsible, but it is downright harmful, especially for kids and others who might follow these actors.

Indeed spreading false rumors and wrong information is a sad thing that is why we need to verify it through other sources but verifying them is a hard task because often times publisher of these wrong information spreads it on different sites with different publishers' names.  The sadder thing is when reputable sites exaggerate things just to get more views and clicks.

I feel you man, Influencers like this do piss me off a lot as well. Nowadays, as information gets easier to find, more unreliable sources pop up which makes it quite bad to trust a single source alone. Just goes to show that like how televisions were used for personal gains and agenda by the media back then, social media platforms nowadays are also experiencing the same greedy manipulation caused by the same selfishness of the capable individuals or groups. Which is why I never follow any shillers/influencers and only hear about them coincidentally. Although, I still watch sometimes but just to hear about new hypes and all so I can do my own research about how worthy are the ones being mentioned and yes, some are true but not all.

Clickbait news is the truth of the world right now. Just be aware and read all the information yourself. The reality is that if they just make the headline something boring related to the news itself then it would not be getting that much attention. SEO changed the news world too much, the more clicks you get means the higher you will be ranked and the higher you will be ranked means that you will be getting more clicks and that is why they changed all headlines to this clickbaity stuff. Not going to really change anytime soon either because having a lot of clicks results in getting paid more and that's all they care about at the end of the course.

Any type of information that interests you for a reason, then double-checking is of the utmost importance. Doing investigations and seeking the truth from various sources is what I often do. Because swallowing the raw information that is shared will only generate a lot of doubts. Even so what you are doing is a good way and don't trust only one source. Especially when it comes to investing, where you have an obligation to know the truth factually. Think critically and always find out until you get the answer.

Yeah, I understood your problem the first second that I read your first sentence of your post. Rule number 1: never believe any influencer, no matter how influencial they are. Especially when it comes to important matters like investing your money or buying a certain product/coin.

They obviously only advertise something if they get paid or otherwise renumerated for their efforts. Only trust yourself.

A lot of people keep falling for the "influencers" and their scams but see it as an expensive life lesson instead of a mistake. Next time, do your own research on whatever you want to invest in and do not listen to others.

You're right mate, most of the crypto influencers would push bullish news for people to buy.
No one watches a video that says negative about crypto, people would just love to join the FOMO if there is because they believe that Bull run is forever.

here's the reality, when the market is bull run, they hype it more, but when the market is bearish they make people optimistic.

These content creators are making money for the views, that's what click bait is.

If you don't like what that content creator has made, unsubscribe to him and never follow any of his contents anymore. He's just one of the many that keeps on doing that.

It is because the interest for cryptocurrencies, mainly for bitcoin has became huge. So, anything that they can capitalize and twist a story and just use some headlines to catch attentions of their viewers and crypto enthusiasts, they'll do it.

What do you have in mind what this influencer's motive?
Its true that there is no real update from Goldsach and Barclays Bank.

I did some googling since I have not subscribed to FT as well and found out about Alan Howard from this link and he is behind Elwood Technologies.

Quote
Howard joined fellow moguls including Peter Thiel and Louis Bacon in May to put $10bn behind a new cryptocurrency asset exchange, Block.one. He is also an investor in the Sweden-listed digital asset manager Coinshares, and crypto custodian Komainu, which is backed by Japan’s Nomura bank.

I think this is the news you are looking for.

influencers get paid to speak. or tweak their message to whatever drama/trend gets them most noticed in the hope of getting paid due to high subscriber numbers

they are not interested in the truth, they just want to clickbait stories to get more viewers to get paid more

its like TV doctors. if your too busy being on TV selling snake oil's then your not actually being a real doctor treating real patients(dr Oz, Dr Phil, and that idiot paid by alex jones). anyone that has time to do book tours, speaking gigs at conferences and regular podcasts/vlogs is doing it for the money, not for the actual desire to speak honestly/informatively

its like this forum. anyone with adverts in their avatar or footer just want to speak BS just to get as many messages made to earn as much as they can in their campaigns.

This is why you need to do a search before believing anything promoted.
No wonder lately almost all social media, telegram, Youtube, Twitter, Facebook talk about Luna, news about Goldman Sachs and Barclays is not much different, Bitcoin investment.

We are aware, not a few who do not seek authenticity are ultimately caught in the trap of fraud, the lure of gifts and so on, for that what you said I agree, don't immediately believe the news that is going viral, it's not necessarily true that fraudsters have loopholes to take advantage of situations like that.

A little smart and careful thinking, can avoid fraud attacks.

Unfortunately this is how influencers and media has been promoting their hidden objective, that is to earn money no matter what can be the consequences and what it may end up?

I believe some news source were to an entent not to be treated as genuine and reliable and that's why I personally don't give in for reading any whow news that are not from a reputable source, bloggers make use of key words just to entice us read through their articles of earn per click threads, we have to be very care especially some news could appear to be too real to be true, in such scenario then an alternative consult may be made regarding such before believing or spreading such news as well.

There are some also that may come with a malicious attacks embodiments unknowingly, those kinds of punicode sites that targets phishing accounts details, i will advise to also verify a news from source, content and site used just to be in safety and off any form of an attacks and their shit posts.

That's why I never follow so-called experts who are nothing more than ordinary influencers who use cheap tricks to earn a dollar more. It's even worse if you're exposed to them 24 hours a day through notifications, which in my opinion really doesn't make sense and turns a person into an addict who just stares at the screen all the time.

Unfortunately, the article is only for those who pay for the content (at least that's the case with me), so I can't read what exactly it is, but I'll take your word for it that it's a clickbait title.
