What you are suggesting is already implemented in the search box.

afaik the search feature only searches the content of the posts. not their username. so if you search for your username in this thread right now you'll only get my post as a result because your name is written in the quote.

if it is there and I missed it please tell me. it will help a lot.
True, only quoted posts are included in the search. Although another thing you can do (if the thread is small) is click on "All" after the page option and just Ctrl+F the username

Well you can always press CTRL+F and type the person's name and that will take you to anywhere the username is
This will not only highlight posts but where the name is mentioned and where there are quotes from that user

Title might not make much sense, but here's the basic idea.
A small search box somewhere at the bottom of a thread that allows us to search a username, and see if they made any posts in a specific thread (search all pages). I've needed to see if a user posted in a thread a few times but it's been hard because I had to do it manually. Not too sure if this is wanted by a lot of people though, worth a shot.
