I always think about the few knowledgeble people who join the forum and create good threads (example). You could argue a Newbie could buy a $30 Copper membership to be able to open a thread, but I expect that to discourage honest users.

How about a n00b jail for every Newbie who wants to create his third thread? At this point a Mod can review his previous threads, and either allow him to continue, or nuke him on the spot.

I love how hilariousandco started thrashing spamthreads, and spammers started complaining about their post count dropping. I too have reported a lot more posts lately.

I'm talking about noobs posting in crap threads, dude. You don't seem to follow what I'm writing whatsoever, so duly noted. I'm suggesting that when shitposters keep posting in threads like "How bitcoin affect ur life?" or some such, if they keep posting in it, that could be reportable.

But I can see that no one is interested in my suggestion here, which doesn't surprise me. Everything that could help, even just a little, gets shot down because it's not the perfect solution--but nothing is, aside from banning sig campaigns. That apparently isn't going to happen.

Theymos is obviously more interested in offering noobs the chance to pay to post images along with a "copper member" title. I doubt he has any clue how shitty bitcointalk has become or just doesn't care.

As far as I can see in Beginners & Help, there is no problem so far. Threads are automatically moved to the right boards but, as I say, I'm not sure if the bot also move topics to trashcan. I also recognized that possibility but these can be countered (I guess).

I would disagree to this. You should consider some concerns. For example, here in meta, people create new accounts to post that their account is compromised and they would have follow up questions or bunp the thread but by implementing that they can't do it anymore. I think this is quiet discriminatory.

I think this has been discussed in another thread. It is not. I think it will just destroy legitimate discussions due to their shitty post since they can't create topics anymore (a possibility). They will be forced to make sense to the topic they don't even understand.

That's exactly what I'm saying. These threads, IMO, are created for the sole purpose of allowing alt accounts to post ready-made answers to shit that's already been discussed to death.

A shitposter should only post in any given thread once, maybe twice. Cutting down on the new threads would force them to multi-post in threads, which can then be reported as spam. I think not allowing noobs to create threads, while not a perfect solution, is at least doing something that might help. I refuse to let the perfect get in the way of the good. Saying it's not going to work is just throwing up your hands and saying an effort is futile--and it's not.

I agree that guy should be nuked, as should a ton of others. I've never reported so many shitposts as I have in the last two weeks.

Although it's been discussed to not count towards activity I don't think that would affect the threads which are being mentioned here as they would likely be in the alt coin discussion which is one of the most popular boards.

Here's something that drives me nuts. You get threads like this all the time: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--2467953

These type of "list the best coin for ___" are ready-made for shitposters, because all they have to do to be on-topic is write:

"XMR, doge, NXT"

...and call it a day. You don't even need to write any English to answer these. There are way too many of these kinds of topics--they're not useful, and they really encourage shitposting by illiterate spammers. So my suggestion is to ban any thread that asks "What coin should I buy" or any variation thereof. When those threads are created, I think they should be reported and mods should just trashcan them.

I'm interested to hear what the community thinks.
