How much would a S3 make me? Should I get one from Ebay or here?
Here if you could, currently on nicehash you would get .00375 per day, this currently translates to $1.39 usd daily.

Is it worth it? I wonder if I would ever make any money...

no it isn't, you need a little farm ata least to do somethign at this point, or bitcoin need to skyrocket to 1k to be slightly worth it

if with the money of the s3, you have bought some btc(probably less than one but still..) at this point, you roi was x2 already

It is not really true a lot including myself were profitable at 230.   Price as you mentioned went up to 460+ over 100 percent up.  It is a AMAZING time to be a miner currently.   Do the ROI math if you don't trust, but I think you will see more trying to mine if it keeps going up.

Someone who bought a S3 if they mine more then the amount they paid in BTC...  they have a ROI and better then just buying.  So those who ROI are going to be very happy.

Very little to choose between S3 & S3+ S3 is the earlier slightly speed reduced at 218.75MHz, S3+ is at 225MHz. I would choose on the basis of condition / price. PSU wise I would always go for the price, reliability & efficiency of a converted Server PSU, others would go for the ease of using a Computer PSU. I will leave someone else to recommend as I have never bought one?

Rich

Only thing is some of batch run slower, they did compensation for batch 1 of S3's.  So if you have a choice I would not get batch 1.  But it all depends on the price you get.

With "free" electricity you  can ROI.  Just be careful as some rigs run hot/loud.  For example S3 easier to make quiet then S5, without mods.

If you want to mine, and with the rise in BTC now is as good a time as any in the last 12 Months, then as others have said best value for money / noise for you is an S3. Will you make much money no, but how much depends on your electricity price? Will you loose much no, because S3 are holding their value very well.  Smiley

Rich

Does the S3 come with two fans or Wi-Fi? Will this be a quiet unit for in home use?How much should I pay for one?

Has 2 Fans, and is "as quiet as they come" has WiFi but you will have to add an antenna.

For fun, that means you don't care for profits?
Take a look at antminer S3, they should be cheap and also quite, rumors are some of them have the ability to downvolt.

For profit for sure! Just not looking for a S7 Smiley

hey everyone!

I would like some guidance! So I have a small apartment with free electricity and a extra office. I would like to have a small bitcoin rig/setup for fun! I have a friend who has been running a S5 for awhile but every time I'm at his house the rig is so loud and hot!

I am running a MAC and I would like to mine on NiceHash.com I would like to be under $100 ideally with a unit and power supply $200 max.

I have been looking at the Black Arrow Prospero X-1.5 SHA-256 ASIC Bitcoin Miner. I am really looking for something plug and play.

Any thoughts?
