I think your suggestion is coming out of from your frustration that you are not able to rank due to merit system (when you are potential legendary on activity count assuming everyone having activity greater than 730 is potential legendary.)

It is not that tough to rank up, just read the lot of good topic started in B&H board. You can find a topic that is not discussed enough, do the good research on it and present here. You will definitely get some merits.

OP There ain't no such thing as  free lunch and you are asking for free lunch.
No dude I am already on Sr member and I am happy with it. The idea/suggestion comes in my mind and I shared with everyone that's all.
Locking this thread as it's already discussed.

Having a huge activities in this forum can’t be guaranteed as a good one because  a lot of users already hit the level of 1k activity and yet their post history are about bounties report so technically it can also become a spam.

The current merit system is fine, its hard but many users now are able to rank up so there’s nothing impossible to rank up if you truly deserve it, keep on working.

what is the difference between this :

If he's active, give him a charity if he donates.

and this

If the person is active, donate a charity to him.

I read it 10 times and my brain almost exploded trying to find out the difference without any luck, I think am getting old maybe it's about time to die already.

OP , if you want to allow someone who made 1000 posts and only got 10 merit to rank up, then it would be easier to cancel the merit system as a whole, i think it is almost impossible for anyone with semi-decent posts ( regardless of where they post) not to get at least 100 merit per 1000 posts.

so even those who don't earn a lot of merit should be able to rank up slowly as long as they contribute even with quarter-good posts - and if someone does not ,then there must be something terribly wrong.

My suggestion;
If he's active, give him a charity if he donates.
If the person is active, donate a charity to him.
At least the merit trade contributes to the forum.

If everyone starts helping each other then who the Hell is going to show their interest in Discussions?
Is it not a discussion?

It's hard for some(mostly) users on forum to get earn merit as they came here to learn related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency
Merits not preventing any kind of discussion.

some of them Join BitcoinTalk to earn cryptocurrency.
Merit isn't required for earning from forum. If they need more earning or good earning then let them work hard and contribute more.

Normal users rarely earn Merit it doesn't mean they don't deserve to get their rank UP.
Rank will not prevent you from any opportunity of forum except signature campaign. And signature isn't affiliated with forum.

Before you even suggest something in the META section you must as yourself how will this benefit the forum in its entirety? or even how will it even make sense for the rest? Because from the looks of it you just want to rank up fast for less work. It's like you are asking theymos to choose quantity over quality here and judging by how the ranking system was mess up back then as if we don't have a Merit system at all with what you are proposing. Plus why would you even reward activity points when it automatically goes up every two weeks naturally just by being an active poster here in the forum.

Ranking is probably overrated, and although it serves as a conceptual incentive to pursue (for ego or campaign signatures), its purpose does not extend much further.

If a person posts 1K posts per year and obtains very little amount of merits, then either his posts are not that good, or the Merit System is not working as it should (perhaps overseeing specific boards). More often than not, it’s the former that applies, and thus the vail attempts to suggest changes in the system. The latter, if found to be true, should be brought to attention with objective proof (perhaps denoting a lack of merit sources on specific boards).

Posts numbers are now not the core measure used to rank-up, but rather their content, and that is measured with through merits as a means to objectively value them through a sum subjectivities. It’s not perfect (i.e a larger sum of subjectivities would make a better objectivity) , but way better than not taking content into account and just using basic post counts.

If I understood you suggestion clearly you're saying irrespective of your rank, each time you earn 10 merits and make 1k post in a year, you rank up the next rank right? So you are suggesting the used of the activeness of a user on the forum to determine his ranking up. That was exactly how the old system was operated, which lead to spammers, spamming their way with alt accounts to new rank. Come up with something different, this one is a NO NO

What we can implement:
If the user is active and posts more than 1K posts on the forum in a year and earned 10 Merits then push his rank to the next level.
This is already implemented: any Newbie or Jr. Member who makes 1000 posts and earns 10 Merit ranks up to Member.
You seem to think anyone with 1000 posts and 10 Merit deserves a higher rank than that. I disagree: if you only manage to earn 0.01 Merit per post, you probably shouldn't rank up any further.
Your stats don't look too promising:

Rank only relevant for those want join signature campaign or often posts with very fast interval between posts.

And as mentioned by other member, it'd be abused by make 1K posts and send 10 merit to that account (either from alt-account or merit seller).
Your idea would be fine if signature feature and spam aren't exist.

Mostly Merits are sent only when someone helps someone

Wrong, it totally depends on sender's reason, intention or standard.

This has been suggested several times, and obviously the merit system is working. It has become harder to earn merits recently, but I believe this is the result of a paucity in quality threads, rather than a failing in the merit system. If you want to earn some merits, then start some good discussions. The crypto world is alive with news at the moment, so there shouldn't be a shortage of good topics.

This is my personal suggestion. Support me if you like or snap it as RDJ did Or simply ignore my post.

The users ranking should also depend on Numbers of posts and Activity and on the time spent on the forum.
It's hard for some(mostly) users on forum to get earn merit as they came here to learn related to Bitcoin and cryptocurrency and some of them Join BitcoinTalk to earn cryptocurrency.

Normal users rarely earn Merit it doesn't mean they don't deserve to get their rank UP. Mostly Merits are sent only when someone helps someone. This forum is for discussion on Bitcoin and blockchain. If everyone starts helping each other then who the Hell is going to show their interest in Discussions?

What we can implement:
If the user is active and posts more than 1K posts on the forum in a year and earned 10 Merits then push his rank to the next level.
OR
If the user is active and posts more than 1K posts on the forum in a year and earn 5 Merits then give him 7 activity. After earning extra 7 merits he will be eligible to rank up.

This is my suggestion, comment below if you have any suggestion.

So basically you are just saying to reduce the number of merits needed to rank up. The discussion over this has already been made and the numbers are exactly where it has to be.
I am a newbie myself and I think ranking up shouldn't be the aim of your life unless you are here just for the sake of money.
Having good discussions doesn't need a merit but a good topic. If ranking up is your only aim then you must try harder as the others have.
