The current ignore system for posts and threads is OK for me, but I would like have quotes from ignored posts suppressed as well.

Try ----> Ignore threads - user script
This script facilitates a lot of work and maybe what you are looking for.
Generally, ignoring topics is far better than ignoring people.

thanks for @NLNico
About it:

Ignore threads
After installing, you don't ignore any thread yet. You can can ignore them with a simple + button next to the title in a thread overview (new posts, forum, etc.) You can also unignore them with a - button. This actually doesn't remove a thread from the overview, it just applies the same style as a "Moved" thread. This way you can still see them and reply if it happens to be an interesting thread, but they are easily separated from the "quality threads" that you didn't ignore. There is also an extra link "Ignored threads" where you can edit the whole list (although Chrome has some issue if the list is too big.)

https://bit.ly/387FXHi lightning theory
I'm sure there was a user script for not showing people that have been ignored.

I kinda like the box to see whether I should remove someone (and to check you're not posting abundently sometimes).

@squatz, there was a script to ignore everyone that hadn't earnt any merit a while ago, that might work if it's the ops you're Tring to ignore from the topics (and I think that obe hid the ignore box too so someike could sample from that for a script for this).

As a side question now: How do you put an entire area like Bitcoin Discussion on ignore?

Profile -> Ignore Boards Preferences

Thanks for this, going to be using it now.

Anychance anyone has a shortlist on what boards to ignore? Might make creating my list a tad easier.

I think this has been suggested before, quite a while ago, but I can't remember if the idea got a warm reception or not.

My opinion is that it's a good one, because I have an extensive ignore list and at one point it had gotten so annoying to see those grayed-out threads that I started putting entire sections on ignore.  I think being able to not see posts or threads by ignored members ought to be an option.  I'm sure some folks don't want something like that to be the standard, but a choice would be nice.

But for some of the people on my ignore list, they post so much garbage all the time that even seeing that little portion of the information is annoying as my page is filled with that.
This is why I put Bitcoin Discussion on ignore, because there were so many spam threads being started by members on my ignore list, and I couldn't even keep up with adding new members to the list.  There are so many spammers and alt accounts of same that Bitcoin Discussion is like a snakepit.  Altcoin Discussion is probably even worse.

Would love to see Theymos or one of the mods/admins come here and comment on if this is possible.

I'm not certain, but I'd take a wild guess that it may have something to do with ad space. The system may have generated an ad for that thread, hence why it still shows up.
Only admins can answer if it can actually be removed totally.

I know in the current system it states the title of a thread the person has posted, or the forum will say that the post is by someone you've ignored. But for some of the people on my ignore list, they post so much garbage all the time that even seeing that little portion of the information is annoying as my page is filled with that.

Would it be possible to implement a change like this? So the people that I've ignored are not even on my screen anymore. Don't know if I'm asking for a lot here, but that'd be cool to see.
